@Nsmum14 glad these threads have been useful for you- do join in with the chat! I have been banned from the fb group- I have no idea why- I am relieved not to have to read all the arse licking chatter though . 🤣 on the old days of that group people actually discussed weight lifting- don’t think that happens any more. I think it is just a way for her to promote her business.

Welcome to the thread @Nsmum14. I agree some programs on the App are a bit samey with far too many hip thrusts but I’ve been redoing Beastmode App workouts and they definitely kick your arse in terms of cardio and strength. I did day 17 Beastmode then Day 6 Fuel CGX lunge day and Beastmode was much tougher, no comparison. CG is definitely not lufting as heavy as before, probably to avoid injury as she’s always mindful of that. How is your toe @BigButtons?
@Fibroushope you get back to normal exercise soon! Caroline has bunions too which is why she’s wearing thick soled trainers, my HOKA Bondi have saved me from painful lunges due to bunion pain, I no longer dread them!

Fibrous · 17/09/2026 09:22

Thanks @samthebordercollie - I think you've mentioned Hoka's before. I'm going to go and try some this weekend, the soles have come off my workout trainers and I've glued them back together once already, so I think it's time for an upgrade 😄

Fibrous · 17/09/2026 09:32

Welcome @Nsmum14 !

Yeah I think a lot of us never lifted weights as a priority, I always thought cardio was king. I used to run a lot, cycle, snowboard (I lived in the alps for five years), but never followed a proper weights program, just the occasional bit on the weights machines in the gym. I am very short and stocky but it has been interesting to feel some solid muscles firming up under my coating of lard. Even in the height of my fit days I can't recall really feeling any solid muscles. I think maybe because my upper body was completely neglected. It does feel like the narrative on weight training for women has completely shifted for the better this last decade or so.

Nsmum14 · 17/09/2026 12:50

Thanks guys.

@Fibrous yes that's it exactly, I had very strong leg muscles from years of training, but nothing at all upper body, I've always had this daft belief that I've no upper body strength - when obviously it's that I never worked the muscles! After two years of strength training they are developing slowly, specially back and shoulders. I really love back exercises and wish I'd know about them years ago!
It also took me by surprise that after not too many months of training with Caroline (mainly epic and epic 2), I had abs! Have never had abs, even when I used to do lots of crunches and sit ups. Lifting certainly strengthens the core.

Minesril · 17/09/2026 15:17

Did Heather 3.0 day 12 today, upper body, felt very much like one of Caroline’s old workouts (but a tiny bit of cardio because she can’t resist it, and a particularly nasty movement called ‘scapula squeeze’ which I’ve never seen in a CG video). Felt nice to be lifting heavier - I often don’t go above sixes in Heather’s workouts but chest presses need the tens!

TessTickle0 · 17/09/2026 16:31

I remember liking that particular move in HR vids.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 17/09/2026 18:24

Can I join you please? I did CG iron a few years ago and loved it, and I don’t know why I never carried on. Well, a few years later here I am, I have made the decision to cut back on the endless hours of running (as was not getting anywhere, always exhausted, getting slower and fatter every month 🤷‍♀️) and have decided to prioritise strength training again. We had a home gym out in in the summer but I’ve really struggled to motivate myself consistently, but then I remembered Caroline and how much I loved it! 😻

just done day 2, I am determined to do the full 30 days although I don’t lift anywhere near as heavy as she does

samthebordercollie · 17/09/2026 18:30

Hi and welcome @thenewaveragebear1983- I remember you from the running threads of the old days! I’ve stoped running now, sadly the 100km a week and numerous marathons eventually caught up,with my knees so I lift with CG and cycle/swim for cardio plus lots of walking. I’m in far better shape, moving well and eating more even at age 60 than I did when I was running lots, I hope it’s the same for you!

BigButtons · 17/09/2026 19:03

How lovely to have new folk- welcome all!
my toe still hinders me- I am on string Ali killers just so can walk and they make me tired. I will lay off any more weights until next week.
also have some sort of bug ( thanks autumn and kids at work) and just want to sleep all the time🥱🥱

Hi @samthebordercollie, I’m still really struggling to make the switch, but this last year I have just really found running less and less enjoyable and the toll on my body is immense. I was not running anywhere near as much as that even at my peak and certainly not now. But I was putting off strength training in case it made running even harder, which means I have really got stuck in a rut. I also know that I need someone to tell me what to do! I go to a bootcamp but it’s just endurance muddy cardio, it’s not progressive overload so while i love it, I need to try something else as well. Glad to hear you are feeling so good though, that’s so promising 🤞

I remember liking that particular move in HR vids.

I’m sure it’s very good for me!

BigButtons · 22/09/2026 17:58

hi all- how are we doing? Now I have let the app go and am banned from the fb group I have no idea what is going on in caroline land- updates would be good from those who still have access!
I am still working my way through hero 2 and really liking it- love the tweaks and challenges he has and I certainly feel worked in those 30 mins- I am pushing the weights and lifting ,on average, heavier than with caroline,. today's challenge were hollow hold, single arm chest press for example

Morning BigButtons and everyone else on here. I too have cancelled the app and things on FB seem to have calmed down a bit Fuel-wise (could just be my feed though!).

I am on Week 2 of Sydney Cummings' Program 75 (I'm way behind the live program) and am enjoying it. This week the workouts have increased to about 40 minutes in length with 4 sets of every exercise. I am writing down my weights and at the moment am planning to repeat the program (it's only 4 weeks long) or at least repeat Week 2.

Glad to hear Jasper is still hitting the spot. I may well return to Hero 2 at some point as I like Jasper and was enjoying the tweaks and twists he puts on things.

Hope everyone else is doing OK.

Fibrous · 23/09/2026 11:13

how's your toe @BigButtons ?

I have cancelled my renewal for Caroline, which was due in October. I am going to give Jasper a go after we move on friday. I will try that for a while and might re sign up for caroline at christmas - will play it by ear.

TessTickle0 · 23/09/2026 15:48

Everyone leaving 😪
Im only a year into my CGX subscription so will definitely be renewing this dec.
Im slowly working through the Fuel programe,I dont seem to have the same energy or enthusiasm for working out lately (menopause maybe?!?)so just doing what I feel like, when I feel like it.
The whoop whoop pair have been very absent so im wondering what's up this time (perhaps he will drop by and let us all know 😉)

samthebordercollie · 23/09/2026 16:50

I’ve got no intention of unsubscribing because there are too many good programmes and individual workouts on her App. I don’t mind repeating workouts, in fact repetition is better for progressive overload and checking strength increases.
On Reddit someone questioned Fuel saying they weren’t feeling the love for it as they’d hoped and quite a few people agreed it’s not really similar to the YouTube version at all. I think it’s the easiest programme she’s brought out, weights too light for the 30 second rest period and even when I’ve increased the weights it’s not been challenging in the cardio sense. Very disappointing. I’m not sure if Caroline’s either been il/injured or she’s just lost enthusiasm for doing it. Maybe it’s the lighting and not so much face tan but she doesn’t looked as ripped as she did in some previous CGX programmes.

BigButtons · 23/09/2026 19:22

@samthebordercollie glad you are finding things you enjoy- I do wonder how fuel is being received generally. Caroline is getting older and despite her protestations that peri will make no difference to her because she is fit and healthy and active - I very much think it is already having an affect.
As far as progressive overload is concerned - for me showing up and challenging myself is what is making the difference. I had plateaued badly with Caroline and needed a shake up. Her app format had become completely tedious for me- it was like doing the same leg, glute, chest, whatever day over and over. I love that Jasper offers tiny tweaks each session to a standard move- it really challenges me and keeps things fresh. I am learning so much about which positions my shoulders work best in for chest press and shoulder presses for example 🙂

OP posts:
BigButtons · 24/09/2026 07:25

@TessTickle0 maybe the whoop whoops aren’t into fuel style training? Still I am sure their absence is a blessed relief for many.
@Fibrous toe is slowly getting better as is the Achilles tendinitis - I still have it buddy strapped but after a month on naproxen my guts are not happy so I am having to go without pain relief🫣 you are finally moving? 😍🥳🥳. That is such good news . Hope the move day goes as smoothly as it can. Do try Jasper- he is great!

SpaceRaccoon · 24/09/2026 08:18

My app autorenewed, so here I am, but tbh I would have anyway, I'm still getting a lot out of it and there's some programmes I've not yet done, and I did look at some of the other recommendations and they were a bit too talky for me I think? I like Caroline's demeanor.

Abra1t · 24/09/2026 09:19

I'm quite enjoying Fuel and find it easier to keep to the programme. It could be the lower weights and shorter session length suit me more, or my age (62). I'll try to get back into a heavier lifting programme once this one finishes.

I get bored with anything over about 35 minutes, I've come to accept. Doesn't matter what it is, unless it's walking or cycling. Perhaps that's a disadvantage of doing it at home by myself.

TessTickle0 · 24/09/2026 09:26

I've only done 5 sessions of fuel so far.
I dont find it too easy.the first leg day my legs felt dead during the workout and after a upper day my butt and legs ached the next day!
Or it's the fact im nearing 50 and been ill 🤒

samthebordercollie · 24/09/2026 12:47

Not sure it's age related finding Fuel challenging, I'm 61 and it just isn't doing it for me, for endurance or strength
I did Beastmode day 17 legs again this morning and used Day 13 Fuel as add on, again, heart rate up and windows open for Beastmode, but for Fuel even usins a slightly heavier dumbell than Caroline heart rate right down and windows closed:
If I was only doing Fuel I'd be worried about losing any gains made previously: I just can't understand how anyone is a 'sweaty mess' after today's session as most commentors on the App appeared to be, when using 1 x 10kg dumbell with supersets of that and bodyweight:

TessTickle0 · 24/09/2026 13:47

@samthebordercollie no it's probably not age related, but strenght 🤣 you lift a lot heavier than me,particularly lower body which i do struggle with, and I HATE squats.(never feels comfortable holding weights high for me)
I am making progress though, but now you have me worried with this programe I won't be

samthebordercollie · 25/09/2026 13:57

@TessTickle0 Please don't worry, if Fuel is challenging for you then I'm sure you won't lose any muscle! I've been lifting over 3,5 years now so it's not the same, I've doubled the weights I used compared to when I started with CG, her programmes work!
