Hi, I am on week 2 run 1. I enjoyed week1 run 3. Anyone want to join. My motivations are weight loss, mental health and improve my fitness. I'm a mum of 2 little ones and have had depression before, am feeling on the verge of it again. I'm also the heaviest I've been in my life.

Me!!! I’ve been stopping and starting this for a while and need to just get moving. I’m going to start tomorrow.

I’ve lost weight using WLI but have hit a stall. Hopefully this will help me get things moving again.

well done on making time for this with 2 little ones

Alwayslearning25 · 25/08/2025 19:30

What is WLI? My DH is a keen runner. I could probably bring my eldest along with me sometimes....

Sorry, it’s weight loss injections.

tryingtobesogood · 25/08/2025 19:34

I will be on the treadmill, I love a treadmill as I broke my ankle a few years ago stepping off a curb and worry I will fall over if I run outside. I’m hoping to get fit enough that I will feel more confident by the time I finish C25k

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 25/08/2025 19:37

Yeah, me, please!

I started it a while ago and stopped when I was a bit unwell. Haven't restarted and feel a bit shit about it, some accountability would be good!

I got to week 6 I think? It was a 20 minute run anyway.

It really does work, I was able to run for 20 mins, and I struggled with week 1 run 1.

I'll probably start at about wk 4 if that's ok? I bought a treadmill so I don't have to worry about people seeing me all red faced and blotchy and asking if I'm really sure I'm ok... 😅

dilemma2516 · 25/08/2025 19:42

Me please ! I shall start tomorrow
prob on week three 😊

tryingtobesogood · 25/08/2025 19:43

I have to admit, I do like that about a treadmill

Alwayslearning25 · 25/08/2025 19:45

@tryingtobesogood I'm a Radiographer and few a fair few people for ankle injuries when they took up running outdoors when the gyms closed in lockdown! Getting out of the house is important for me though. I have found a decent route with a new footpath to run back and forth along.

tryingtobesogood · 25/08/2025 19:49

@Alwayslearning25 I wish I could say it was from running, I was looking for a turning in a busy street and didn’t see the curb 🤦‍♀️

The radiographers were so kind when I had my X-Ray.

Alwayslearning25 · 25/08/2025 21:42

Will you have 3 set days a week? I'm not sure yet, as we're at the end of the summer holidays. My DH works in a school, when he goes back it will change. I did two days in a row and it didn't feel good. So I'm thinking Saturday, Monday and Wednesday.... although Sunday morning is a nice time to run....

Also I like running in the morning best

OP posts:
tryingtobesogood · 26/08/2025 06:35

Morning, my days will be Monday, Wednesday and then Friday or saturday depending on work. And like you I prefer mornings, get it done and get on with my day.

tryingtobesogood · 26/08/2025 09:41

WK1 D1 done.

Alwayslearning25 · 27/08/2025 18:16

I just remembered I set this evening for a run. I'll post again when I'm done

Done, my knees hurt during, I have some excersises from the phisio for hypermobile knees I should do. Also, I think in a couple of weeks it should be less painful as I get stronger.

Keep up the strength training exercises along side running it really does make a difference. I run loads and have to make sure I get at least one good strength training session in a week or I end up injured! Well done for getting started!

dd1 is in her final week of c25k and she proudly showed my her pace earlier (it was a good pace). She can now manage a park run in a reasonable time despite being asthmatic. C25k really does work. 4 years since I did it and now I’m running a marathon in October. Never thought this would be me!

good luck with the rest of the plan.

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 29/08/2025 14:17

Just did wk4 r1, and I didn't use the treadmill for the first time ever! I'm at home with DD (8) so made her come with me for a run around the village. It rained, which was quite nice as I find it's often overheating that limits me more than anything else.

Feeling OK, but it was hard. I find the constant pace of the treadmill keeps me going, I had to keep giving myself a kick up the bum to speed up a bit today. But some of it was uphill, in my defence!

Alwayslearning25 · 29/08/2025 15:52

Well done. Id like to take my DD (7) with me for a run. She can be a bit stroppy and excersice helps. Maybe after school one day.

Week 2 run 2 done

WarriorsComeOutToPlayay · 01/09/2025 10:30

Can I join please. I’m doing my first run today.

I did C25K 6 years ago before I got married and I loved it but fell out of the habit. I’m trying to get fit and lose weight without doing anything too gruelling or drastic as I am undergoing IVF.

Alwayslearning25 · 01/09/2025 12:19

Welcome warriors. I have decided today is c25k day but have not gone yet. I woke DD up at 7 am to get her back in routine for school starting on Thursday and DH is not feeling very well. Should have run earlier, it's heavy showers here. I think I will at about 4pm.... it's a nice gentle program. I went on a big bouncy castle with my toddler two days ago. Didn't think I injured myself but my shoulders still feel achy. It was good excersice and fun though. I was probably a bit too into it.

First run done!

It’s somewhat disheartening to realise how unfit you are as running 8 times for 60 seconds really shouldn’t be that hard, but I know I felt exactly the same when I did it years ago and I got to 5k by following the app so I can do it again.

Alwayslearning25 · 03/09/2025 11:48

Week 3 completed last night. I was going to do it yesterday morning and I didn't really want to go yesterday, but it felt good

OP posts:
ew1990 · 16/09/2025 18:05

Can I join,
Have no previous running experience but did week 1 run 1 today, I thought I was going to keel over after the first 60 second run!

Alwayslearning25 · 16/09/2025 20:30

Hi ewe, welcome. Don't feel discouraged by the first, who will get fitter when you keep going. I got it wrong and on 3rd finished week 2. I've done 3 weeks now and it's definitely easier. First day of week one and first day of week 2 I found the toughest. I am not getting in my 3 times a week always though.

OP posts:
ew1990 · 17/09/2025 12:56

Im having a rest today and doing run 2 tomorrow, i was looking at the weeks and I never see myself running the 8 minutes never mind the 30 but we will see
