Can't advise in the treadmill but I had to calorie count (1200) & do the exercise took 2 years to shift just over 5 stone. One didn't work for me without the other.

safetyzone · 25/03/2025 11:42

You will need to look at what you eat in order to lose weight. How's your diet? You need to look at how much you eat and work out a deficit from there.

Colourfulltrees · 25/03/2025 11:49

Yes I've stopped snacking and not having sugar in my diet. I just thought walking / jogging may help lose the weight quicker

Sorry but for pity’s sake. Loose weight is a really unpleasant visual image. Please, it’s lose weight. My advice is use Myfitness pal app.

I follow the slimming world plan and they have some brilliant workouts included on their app starting from 5mins so you can easily fit them into a busy day around working and childcare. Also i do just dance at home with the kids when I can too or put music on and have a dance with them in the kitchen, just anything to get moving really. Doesn’t have to be a set walk outside as I can’t fit those in easily in my daily routine right now. These things work for me anyway :) good luck x

Bet you feel great about yourself for flagging up that mistake. How very condescending.

PoppyBaxter · 25/03/2025 12:13

Losing weight will be 90% down to your diet and 10% down to exercise. And I say that as an exercise nut.

Eat clean, eat nutrient dense foods, reduce your portion size. Any walking and so on that you can do in addition is a bonus.

Colourfulltrees · 25/03/2025 12:27

Thanks everyone I will look more at the foods I am eating

I’m sorry, I really don’t. I knew I’d get this type of comment but honestly spelling is important. ‘Loose weight’ reads hideously!

Like I say it was a error I tried to amend it but it would not let me edit the title no need for the nasty comment above

It’s really not nasty. I prefaced with sorry in my original post. Your foul language towards me broke MN community guidelines. I would recommend checking before you post, the new feature encourages this.

I no it did and I am glad you saw it before it was taken off. I only wanted ideas about losing weight and I get this because of a typing error. To be honest it puts me off even writing on here due to people like you.

I was actually trying to help, you called me a disgusting name which is the type of behaviour this site does not tolerate and puts people like me off posting.

ffsgloria · 25/03/2025 12:46

I don't understand the flagging of another user's misspelling or grammar; it's so pedantic, pointless, a waste of time, not to mention outright rude.

OP I would focus on cutting down on upf, sticking to whole foods and keeping it simple. Eggs, meat, fish, fruit, veg, greek yogurt, nuts.

A treadmill will speed weight loss up but diet is really key.

You should look at the way you help people because the way you wrote that was disgusting just like you so I will not be posting on here anymore as I am now worried I will get my spelling wrong and have people like you pointing it out in a horrible way

I lost weight (to pre baby weight) both times by breastfeeding, increasing step count and doing a spin class at the gym once a week (starting at 3 months). I didn’t have to calorie count at all (thanks breastfeeding 😂) but I appreciate we’re all different.

treadmills are pretty big do you have the space? Static bikes like pelotons are much more compact. I think there are walking treadmills too that are smaller but I don’t know anything about them. Also consider toddlers aren’t really safe in the same room while you are on a treadmill/bike as they could injure themselves on it.

There is absolutely nothing disgusting about anything I have said. Your intonation is extremely hurtful and aggressive.

jellyfishperiwinkle · 25/03/2025 12:56

I would drive somewhere nice to walk with the baby - will be nicer now in spring and summer. If they fall asleep you could listen to music or an audio book.

Some people do find walking mills very good to do something regularly in the evenings. Post natal yoga or a gentle yoga class may also be useful. I did mum and baby yoga for a bit too. There are lots of free videos on YouTube if you can't get to a class. Don't pick a strenuous one though, yet.

Mostly, as others have said, it does come down to what you eat. If you are breastfeeding you may find the weight comes off gradually anyway. It takes your body at least a year to get over pregnancy, probably more like two years.

@Colourfulltrees I would ignore the goady poster we all make typos at times . YouTube is brilliant for access to all sorts of exercise routines and it’s about finding ones you like , my personal faves are Fitbymik and Eleni fit but there are thousands to choose from . Try and do some weights and cardio you can look for body weight exercises at first if you don’t have any weights
