New thread!

The 6 Bells is great - we went up to the tractor run on boxing Day (all the tractors went past our house!). Had a couple of days off - my shoulder blade/neck got so uncomfortable this weekend I went to the osteopath this morning - I'd knocked 2 ribs out of their position, so he popped them back and advised no weights today.

stilllockeddownnowheretogo · 25/01/2022 06:02

Hi all,
Its great to hear that you're all smashing Endgame! I have been too scared to start yet - I'm doing odd videos every other day at the moment.

One reason I'm too scared to start: My shoulders have got huge; particularly the part at the base and around my neck (trapezius?). It looks so bulky. And I have a strapless dress to wear for my wedding soon. My upper half is not looking good in the strapless right now!
Any suggestions of how I can fix this? Get 'long and lean' instead of short and bulky Grin Please help! I'm wondering if I should make a separate thread asking for advice...

BigButtons · 25/01/2022 06:45

@stilllockeddownnowheretogo I know what you mean. I have this issue with my legs. It takes some getting used to. All I can think of it really reducing the weights you are using or switch to another coach and do more cardio than strength for a while? X

@fishonabicycle deffo no endgame 16 for you! Hope you heal quickly.
I see that today’s finisher is 100 ffing Bulgarian lunges and she is using 20kg weights for some of the earlier exercises. I’m not going heavier than 11.5. I haven’t got heavier than that and that will be enough!😳😱

Itsnotdeep · 25/01/2022 19:03

Bloody hell shoulder day was hard! I did it with 5s and 4s. So hard. They feel like jelly now.

BigButtons · 25/01/2022 19:47

@Itsnotdeep I know! It was a shocker. Today was mega - lots and lots of Bulgarians and RDLs.I did actually manage the finisher of 100 Bulgarians.

OP posts:
Anjelika · 26/01/2022 08:41

Wow yesterday's left my legs feeling like jelly. That finisher was something else!!!

Itsnotdeep · 26/01/2022 12:45

I've got to do the legs one today. But will substitute the lunges for something else (phew! no bulgarian lunges for me!).

BigButtons · 26/01/2022 13:21

She is upping the game I think.
Biceps and triceps for me today.
I can’t do tricep push ups - so I will do one of those lying on your back overhead tricep extensions.

OP posts:
fishonabicycle · 26/01/2022 16:46

Am going to do day 9 full body today, but mostly body weight I think. And oh my god - I jokingly said to husband that one day would be 100 Bulgarians! I flipping hate them!

BigButtons · 26/01/2022 16:57

I used to really hate bulgarians. As my legs have got stronger I don't mind them as much.
Day 18 done in parts. The finisher was done in many many parts!! i did however manage 7 proper tricep push ups and that is a first- made doubly difficult by the fact that the press up section came in at about 70% in after all the weight lifting.

OP posts:
StrikingMatches · 26/01/2022 18:08

My legs don't feel like mine today after yesterdays leg day. I managed the finisher even though I started out telling myself I'd get to 50 and call it a day. But I'm feeling it today.
I switched my active test day today as I like to do a particular spin class at my gym on Wednesdays. I thought I might do todays work out afterwards but I was just too tired, so I've saved it for tomorrow.
Is anyone else hungrier on this Epic than previous ones. I just want to eat ALL the food!

BigButtons · 26/01/2022 18:30

@StrikingMatches I was hungrier during heat than I am now. This one is tough on the muscles but not on cardio. I kind of miss that feeling that everything was getting a work out.

Itsnotdeep · 27/01/2022 19:05

Leg day for me today which was fine, but I cut out the lunges. (I did the squats today). I did message CG via instagram asking for some alternative exercises for lunges that target the same muscles - I got a nice response from her assistant (Freda) saying she'd look at this. I did a fair amount of wall sitting during the workout today.

Ridiculously busy at work and my youngest has covid, so have been limited in my ability to do add-ons or any other exercise (including dog walks).

BigButtons · 30/01/2022 09:20

Hello everyone. How’s it going? I will attempt the dumbbell hiit today and then go for a ramble across the South Downs.
I need to try and get more cardio in my week😃

OP posts:
fishonabicycle · 30/01/2022 17:03

We did day 10 plait day yesterday - the finisher was probably my poorest effort so far - it was sprawls (half Burpees), and I only did about 50 in the time!

Itsnotdeep · 31/01/2022 09:49

I did the full body workout yesterday and then a 2 hour yoga workshop focusing on chaturangas (which are basically tricep push-ups). I can't move my arms today and my legs feel like jelly. Had an abortive attempt on the peloton but my body was just too tired (also had a restless night sleep).

Is that Hiit @fishonabicycle ? They're hard!

I do find that 48 minutes is just a little bit too long for my attention span. I start to get a bit distracted at around 30 minutes. I like the 100 finishers as it re-engages me.

BigButtons · 31/01/2022 11:28

@fishonabicycle the sprawls were really awful. I think I did them in sets of 10.

OP posts:
fishonabicycle · 31/01/2022 16:43

Did legs (including calves) day 11 today! Pretty tough, and went for a 5 mile walk in the sunshine - beautiful. Saw deer in the field behind our garden yesterday!

Melassa · 31/01/2022 20:24

Hello all, I fell off the wagon a bit as been super hectic at work plus a little under the weather. Nothing I can put my finger on but just feeling a bit yuk and stomach crampy. I’ve also had half the household poorly, including the cat, so lots of steps running back and forth to the pharmacy. I had hoped to rejoin today, but alas it wasn’t so.

I think what I’m finding a challenge is the45 minute format, not enough time in my lunch break to exercise, eat and have a shower, especially if I add on a warm up. With the advent ones I had time for all 3, even in the evening I could manage 20 mins before my aperitif and while cooking. Now I risk burning my dinner! I will need to find a way of working it in, or else taking another few days off. Oddly enough I’ve not been catching up at weekends either, although we’ve been going for long walks and hikes at a steady rate so I do feel a bit less guilty.

Maybe I’ll try to do some of the advent stuff again, just to get back into it. I’m supposed to be skiing mid February so I don’t want jelly legs. Although to be honest I’ve never noticed any stiffness from inactivity to a week of skiing every day. Probably because I tend to stick to the less challenging pistes nowadays.

BigButtons · 31/01/2022 20:38

@Melassa wondered where you had got to. Sorry you have all been feeling poorly☹️.
You could always try heat again? I am missing it tbh and realise as much as I really enjoy endgame I miss the cardio aspect,
To day I did the legs but reduced the weight to 6kg and did double reps. That got my heart rate up!
Endgame weights were really bulking out my legs- not great.
@fishonabicycle leg day and a hike wow! I did the hiit and a hike up the downs yesterday- a near vertical climb. Love these hills😍

OP posts:
Melassa · 31/01/2022 22:07

Are you finding endgame more “bulky” to be honest I hadn’t noticed, probably because I’ve missed most of it. Maybe I should keep the weight low and not increase then.

I might go back to Heat and finish the last 10 days, good idea. I will see. Got an early start tomorrow as need to travel but I should be back at a decent hour, if I’m not craving wine then I will do one of them (I realise what that sounds like! I don’t normally crave alcohol but after a trying week it is most welcome!)

BigButtons · 31/01/2022 22:32

@Melassa I don’t know. Maybe I eating too much bread and certainly drinking far too much wine. Endgame is certainly more weights focused, a slower pace Which allows for heavier lifting. My legs are so much bigger and I don’t like it. I do really like endgame though and love the finishers. I also miss heat🤔
My top half is great- so I am adapting leg days with lighter weights to make it more cardio- like heat and hopefully lose weight and reduce the bulk. My thighs are rock hard solid it’s a bit scary!
My mum is dying so I really need to exercise atm and get proper out of breath tired.

OP posts:
Melassa · 31/01/2022 23:00

Oh no @BigButtons your poor mum! I understand the need to kick it out of yourself to let out the grief. You’d probably find it helpful to throw your weights at someone but I appreciate it may not be practical. Flowers to you and your mum

Itsnotdeep · 01/02/2022 20:32

Oh no @BigButtons I'm really sorry to hear that.
