Hello all,
Well, I have just had three weeks off Blush, I was off work for two weeks (so spent the time on nice walks outside and eating and drinking too much), and then when I got back to work I was crazy busy catching up on the two weeks holiday...
But I got back into it yesterday! Thought I would ease my way in with the Advent videos, 20 minutes is quite long enough for me this week Grin. Full body yesterday was not too hard at the time, but I'm feeling it today! Core and Abs today was hard at the time (I do not have good abs!!).
So I think I'll stick with the Advent videos for a while; I won't do seven days a week so they should keep me going for most of January too!

BigButtons · 14/12/2021 14:27

Squat and RDLs just done- quite like that.
Am going to do last week’s shoulders and arms after a short rest🙂

Anjelika · 14/12/2021 14:56

Did my first Advent one today - think it was today's - Upper Body Circuits. Really enjoyed the shorter workout (no surprise there!). Felt it gave me energy rather than tiring me out.

BigButtons · 15/12/2021 08:28

I spent last night in bed aching from the squats and RDLs ! Will do the body weight legs one that is out today. I should really do some glutes. Not the endless hip thrusts though- will do the callisthenics one.

BigButtons · 15/12/2021 08:29

It is amazing how quickly my legs and arms have firmed up again after a week off though😃

OP posts:
BigButtons · 15/12/2021 21:21

Dead bug core exercises tomorrow- my favourite core exercises.
Did the body weight leg day today plus 15 mins biceps and 10 mins triceps.
My hamstrings are complaining bitterly.

OP posts:
Melassa · 16/12/2021 13:07

Did the dead bugs this morning and the bw legs yesterday. Just missing the upper body as had a scarily early meeting and no time to fit it in. I’m not finding these too taxing, which is fine by me right now. Might finish Heat over the Xmasbreak, only 10 days to do!

Anjelika · 16/12/2021 15:02

I did Day 12 of Heat - an upper body one with some dead bugs in it!

BigButtons · 16/12/2021 22:35

I really like the dead bug abs. Fake I has worked my abs in a way they hadn’t felt for a long time .
My right hamstring is pulled 😔

OP posts:
BigButtons · 17/12/2021 18:07

Dead bugs again today and last week’s full body( which I found easy).
Am now on antibiotics for a sinus is infection I have had for 2 weeks already so am not doing any cardio until my airways are clear!

Melassa · 18/12/2021 13:48

Oh my that glute session today with the ankle weights, I will just say thank goodness I didn’t have any ankle weights! I did think of using resistance bands but am glad I didn’t take the plunge. Although I might try it on a day I didn’t just do a full body beforehand (to catch up on yesterday). I needed to do a 2 minute reclining pigeon after to unblock my glutes.

I am enjoying the bite-size sessions, I wish she would do an EPIC Express series, with lots of short but intense workouts. I can more easily manage to fit those in my day and am more likely to keep it up.

BigButtons · 18/12/2021 14:34

@Melassa I’ll try that one. Had my booster this morning and was fully expecting to be feeling crappy. Atm all I have is a sore arm though.

OP posts:
Melassa · 18/12/2021 17:13

I’ve got mine next week. If you’ve had Moderna it does seem it has a delayed reaction, you feel a bit unwell a day and a half or 2 days later. Or at least that’s the anecdata I gleaned from people I know who have had it, it’s what is being offered locally for the boosters. So by that reckoning I’ll feel crap at Christmas. Better get something oven ready and easy that others can cook.

fishonabicycle · 18/12/2021 17:25

Hi - did yesterday's full body and today's glutes this morning.

I'm in the countryside near a place called Waldron - Brighton is about 40 minutes away!

BigButtons · 18/12/2021 17:40

@Melassa ah- yes I had Moderna. I had AZ for the first 2 and felt crap at the 12 hour mark- so I will not be celebrating my side effect escape too earl then🤨
@fishonabicycle not so far from me then- I am in Lewes🙂

BigButtons · 19/12/2021 10:06

My jabbed arm is torture, any movement is agony- even if I’m sitting down and someone moves in the sofa without touching it it really hurts . No exercises for me today. Mind you that hiit looks awful.

OP posts:
stilllockeddownnowheretogo · 19/12/2021 14:15

@Melassa, I am also really enjoying the shorter workouts. And I haven't even been trying to squeeze in more than one to catch up!
20 minutes is great - I'm much less likely to make excuses that I don't have time. And I still feel like I've had a workout - my muscles ache!
So I would also really like a series of shorter workouts that fit as much as possible into 20 or 30 minutes. Grin let's hope Caroline is reading!!

fishonabicycle · 19/12/2021 14:18

Lewes is not far at all! I've never really been there but am planning a visit to check it out soon. I did the full body and glutes yesterday, and nothing today (planning on drinking a lot as a friend is over from Canada).

BigButtons · 20/12/2021 09:15

@fishonabicycle let me know when you are planning to visit!
I am going to attempt a body weight leg one today. Would love to do today’s arm one but my jabbed arm is still unusable and very painful and I still feel all achey.
This is just as the antibiotics are kicking in for the sinus infection i have had for weeks. This never seems to end.😡

OP posts:
stilllockeddownnowheretogo · 21/12/2021 12:12

aahhh @BigButtons, hope you are on the mend soon! It sounds bad for sure. Hopefully now you're on antibiotics they will help.

My glutes and hamstrings are really feeling it after the (surprisingly!) glute and hamstring workout. I think it was day 5 of Advent. So clearly the short workouts are still having an effect!

Itsnotdeep · 21/12/2021 14:27

I think the advent workouts are quite good. I did 2 today - the Very Hard Upper Body one from yesterday and an abs one from the first week.

I'm having to avoid the leg ones - I have very weak knees and have noticed the muscle above one of my knees (what is it? A quad?!) has a really huge bulge in it. But just one of my legs has that bulge. And it hurts a bit. And looks a bit odd.

Sorry to hear you're unwell @BigButtons - I had to stop for a couple of days when I had my booster. My dd has had hers now and she is in alot of pain!

BigButtons · 21/12/2021 14:49

Thanks everyone. I am finally on the mend. Today is the first day for month that I haven’t had to take any pain killers. Jabbed arm still very tender to touch but I have been able to lift weights.
@Itsnotdeep that is odd re your quad- do you think it is swelling due to a muscle strain? Does icing it help?
@stilllockeddownnowheretogo I pulled my hamstring doing that one- those RDLs, Ned to be careful!
Today I repeated the advent back one from a couple of days ago and today’s leg one. Might do an abs later.
Looking at racer back vests for the summer. Anything to chase away the gloom!

Anjelika · 21/12/2021 15:37

I did Day 17 of Epic Heat today - Compound Legs - and would recommend it as a good all rounder with plenty of variation. Yes it had some hip thrusts in it and yes there were Bulgarian lunges but not excessive amounts of either. I need a good upper body one now for later in the week.

BigButtons · 22/12/2021 10:41

Today’s advent triceps. I really had to grit my teeth. Literally. That hurt. I used mostly 5s and 6s. Gave up on the skull crushers and did the one dumbbell ones. Form was all over the place. Triceps certainly aren’t as strong as I would like them to be.
Think I will do the wall sit challenge later. I have hammered my legs already this week.

OP posts:
Itsnotdeep · 22/12/2021 13:08

The tricep one was tough @BigButtons ! I had to go down to 5s and think my form was a bit lax too . But at least no tricep push ups, so that's good.

I did an advent week one abs too - 15 minutes but it's hard! I must have great abs, although they are buried under several layers of mince pies at the moment.
