Here we go. X

OP posts:
TabbyStar · 04/05/2021 07:21

I always used to hate the tai chi, and I am crap at it, not at all graceful and often going in the wrong direction, but the coordination from side to side is really good for your brain, and also as I've got older I find it a much better warm up for my dodgy back than going straight into yoga.

kittykarate · 04/05/2021 09:09

I don't mind the Tai Chi warmups - I have a real soft spot for the one on BB#86 as that was the first thing I managed to do after my hip injury. There was a bit of a kick off about the vanishing Tai Chi on the Facebook group, with people split between love it/hate it/huh whatever. I wonder if it depends who is presenting? The last few have been Jackie/Diana/Kylie only gigs, so maybe they're not massive fans of it.

TabbyStar · 04/05/2021 09:37

I did 88 yesterday, I'm working back down them again, missing the ones with no tai chi, so I'll take note at 86! I wonder whether they'll bring it back. Are there other changes in the recent ones, I noticed someone commented underneath it that it was more yoga-y all round.

kittykarate · 05/05/2021 11:11

Core Nano this morning. God it kills me, I had to keep taking rests in the side plank section.

sociallydistained · 05/05/2021 12:32

I like to do my own mash up once or twice a week so today I did Tone #10 (preferred 7 but still fun), Combat upper body (the lovely scenic one) followed by the final 8 min track of Sprint, this kills me off lol. Goes so fast when mixing it up.
My legs are absolutely killing me from a leg session at the gym yesterday.

Campervan69 · 06/05/2021 19:32

I do the body balance every morning and I don't like the new ones because I much prefer warming up to tai chi. I love love love BB.

I'm at the end of fastburner and wondering what to do next. Really pleased with my increase in fitness. I can hold a hover for about a minute now, I know it doesn't sound that long but considering at the start I could only do 12 seconds I'm happy. I've got a barbell arriving on Monday so going to try some bodypump next week.

I moved on to Stronger after Fastburner but I think Gamechanger is actually a more logical next step! There is also the new Fastburner advanced programme but no BP in that.

I got up at 5:45 to do Grot this morning. What have I become Grin

zobalina77 · 07/05/2021 10:07

5.45 for grot!! Madness 🤣 I got up at 6 the other day for BA but don't think I could do grot at that time in the morning.

Might have a look at game changer. Looking forward to trying bp.

moiraswigs · 07/05/2021 10:23

@rosettesforjill did you enjoy stronger? I've got 2 weeks left of game changer and debating either stronger or burn amplify.

I did - it was pretty tough but rewarding. Not a lot of cardio compared to other programmes though if that's your thing.

sociallydistained · 07/05/2021 12:06

Grot at 5.45 is the ONLY way to do Grot in my opinion 😂 your body is thrown into something your brain doesn’t have the time to comprehend properly lol.

EggyBread4me · 07/05/2021 13:33

I am considering signing up to this, looks like you all love it which is great 👍 Can you talk me through how it works? How would I watch the videos on my telly 🤔

NowYouListenToMeFella · 07/05/2021 13:44

Stronger challenge sounds right up my street. Going to start that on Monday.

kittykarate · 07/05/2021 14:17

Hi EggyBread -

Les Mills On Demand is available as an app on some smart TVs (but not many!).
You could also use something like an Amazon Firestick or a Roku to run the app. If you have a compatible phone and telly you can cast from your phone to the TV (on my samsung this means the audio has a slight lag which is a bit irritating) . Or you could go really low tech, and run a HDMI cable from a laptop or your tablet to your telly.

I just tend to watch it on my tablet so I do get more grumpy about the releases where the cameraman gets bored and swoops around.

That makes sense, thank you!

Looks like there is a lovely supportive community here as well 😍

Think I will give it a go 👍

kittykarate · 07/05/2021 14:34

@EggyBread4me - we have a great community here, and there is also a good international community of people on Facebook (though they are at times worryingly obsessive)

There is usually a 2 week free trial period when you sign up for LMOD, so take good advantage of that. If you don't have any equipment (weights, stationary bike etc) then you'll probably be looking at doing Body Combat (martial arts inspired boxercise), Body Attack (old school aerobics to donk-donk dance music), Body Balance (yoga/tai chi inspired), Sh'bam (dance routines), Core (eventually you'd need resistance bands but the first few weeks) or Barre (ballet inspired). Oh and Grit Cardio (regularly known here as Grot). Hiit training. Crazy intense.

They have challenges and plans that you can sign up to - these give you a schedule of workouts to do which try and balance the types of work you're doing. Most of the newer plans have a 'no-equipment' option where possible.

MsMartini · 07/05/2021 16:37

@EggyBread4me, do give it a go! This is a lovely thread, and there is so much to try in LMOD. I use it as a top up to strength training and running and love the variety and flexibility, it is really good value IMO even if not your main exercise.

sociallydistained · 07/05/2021 17:16

They have just put up a lot of new videos up about nutrition, breathing exercises and meditation. I’m always in awe of the new and bonus content that is constantly added. The value and quality is top notch. I’ve been a subscriber for 4 years and it is the top of the list of things I feel essential in my life.

YeahNahWhal · 08/05/2021 01:55

I just finished Tone #6 - it's so fun! Hope lots are watching it, so they release more of them. I loved how the alternative moves were always there. So good, I'm so sweaty!! Grin

HermioneWeasley · 09/05/2021 19:48

Yes @YeahNahWhal, I’m really enjoying tone.

BP 115 this morning followed by core 35.

MozzchopsThirty · 09/05/2021 22:15

I haven't tried tone or core yet

Is it worth tagging one on the end of a 30 min body pump???

Core is different to CXWorks?????

rosettesforjill · 09/05/2021 23:03

Core is the same as CXWorx. I think they renamed it for some reason.

Might try Tone at some point - there are quite a few classes like barre etc that don't seem to be on the challenges so I was thinking of taking a couple of weeks to try them all!

Rest day for me today Smile

NowYouListenToMeFella · 10/05/2021 09:08

Morning All. Starting the stronger challenge today. Looking forward to not having to pick a workout and it's a good chance to try things I might not have chosen myself.

kittykarate · 10/05/2021 11:20

Core this morning for me - I guess they renamed it from CXWorkx to 'Les Mills Core' as it's a bit more obvious what's going on in there.

Next week I'm going to pick a 3 days a week no equipment workout plan, and put that in my diary. Basically low impact options initially, building up. I don't think jumping lunges will ever be back on the menu though. On the other days, do Body Balance to try and build up my strength.
