Apple Fitness Plus

Anyone else started Apple Fitness Plus?

I've used the Apple Watch for almost 4 years now & I'm pretty bought in. My life is ruled by the rings etc! Saw Fitness Plus come up this week after a software update & decided to give it a go.

I haven't been a fan of home workouts (never done Joe Wicks etc) but these short mini sessions seem really good. I enjoy yoga in RL so tried a couple of them first then a short 10 min strength on this morning. I've chosen some core for tomorrow.

I've no one to share this with in the real world so wondered if any Mumsnetters are doing it too?

I absolutely love it!! It's so much fun, easy to use and the workouts are brilliant! There's so many to choose from!

OohImBlindedByTheLights · 06/01/2021 22:52

I particularly love the treadmill work it's with Scott :)

OohImBlindedByTheLights · 06/01/2021 22:52

Workouts*

Tigresswoods · 06/01/2021 22:57

Yay! Someone else who loves it! I'll look Scott up...

I'm trying to give it a go but had to update both watch and phone. Thought I went through this process the other day and was ready to go tonight. Signed up and bloody watch is not updated so have spent last three hours trying to get the bloody thing to update. Aaaargh!

Am in my gym clothes now so don't want to give up without having done something. And need to burn off the stress caused by fucking Apple Watch.

Grrrrr!

RavingAnnie · 06/01/2021 23:40

Well that was worth the trauma! Just did my first one with LaShawn. Was fun and full of energy. Not too hard as I am super unfit! Loved it! It was fun and I don't really like exercise so that's a good sign 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

OohImBlindedByTheLights · 07/01/2021 10:13

@Tigresswoods Scott makes it so fun and easy to do it! I can't run the length of myself and he's really helped keep me focussed.

Tigresswoods · 07/01/2021 13:30

Did another yoga & tried my first core this morning. Think I'll do another core later. Was good fun.

Love these little workouts! So positive & fun. And short for my rubbish attention span!

Did 3 more workouts after finishing work at 5pm. A 20 minute yoga & 2x 10 minute ones. Core & strength.
I really like it in this horrible lockdown world. It's the right mix of challenging & gentle.

Well done @Tigresswoods!! I got my covid vaccine today so my arm is a bit tender. Will get back on the treadmill tomorrow hopefully

rubyslippers · 07/01/2021 22:03

I really like it - have done something daily
The dance is great and the HIIT and strength are pretty good (and challenging)
The 10 min core and cool downs are helpful
I tend to do 20 mins of an activity and then a 10 minute one to get to 30 mins
There’s a good variety of instructors and they show you how to adapt all the routines

EasterIssland · 07/01/2021 22:10

How can I get it ? I think I’ve rhe latest version of ios on my watch. It did mention it but can’t find it

Tigresswoods · 07/01/2021 22:40

@EasterIssland I had to force my phone to do an update first. Took a while. Anyway it's then in the Fitness app where you can usually look at your rings, workouts, awards etc.

@EasterIssland it's a subscription service too x

I've been using the Peloton app for about 6 months, and really like it (it actually got me enjoying spinning), so although I've tried Apple Fitness +, at the moment I think it needs to improve before I make the move. DH likes it though, he's done some HIIT and treadmill workouts on it. I'd like to know what the intensity level of the workout is before I start, and I can't really get a feel for that at the moment, but once my free Peloton trial is up, I'll probably explore Fitness + a bit more.

Tigresswoods · 10/01/2021 22:01

Did my first 45 minute yoga workout. Interesting as I go to a normal real life yoga class & the watch regularly give me about 150-160 on my move ring. (I've found my people here!). 45 minutes with Dustin gave me 215! It was a very "flow" class but who knew it would be such a difference?!

Been doing some of the 10 minute HIIT! Omg haha! So hard going! Done the 10 minute core with Molly too!

OrangeSunset · 16/01/2021 22:32

I’ve been really enjoying this too - got 3 months free with new watch.

I’ve done strength, like the way they build in layers. I’ve done a few dance ones with DD, and a few cool downs after running.

I agree the intensity and equipment should be specified so you filter along with time. I thought they were 30mins max so good to see a longer yoga one - they must be adding to it. Having these little ‘bite size’ workouts so accessible is helping keep up my move streak.

Anyone know if you can throw it to a chrome cast? That’s what we have in the garage where the heavier weights are...

Tigresswoods · 17/01/2021 17:18

Glad you're liking it too. I've spent the week making my way through Dustin's 45 minute yoga classes. So nice & chilled & a great workout. At the moment I'm far away in the lovely fitness studio & not in my kitchen trying to make the best of lockdown.

Hoping they release another one of his on Monday.

Is yoga the way to go to tone up all your muscles?

The only way of having Fitness+ on a tv is getting an Apple TV. It doesn’t work over AirPlay. I think a iPad Pro with usb c to hdmi works but lightning to hdmi with other iPads doesn’t work. It’s infuriating really. I’ve been enjoying the workouts especially hiit and rowing but I’m not paying loads of money for another device.
Pimlicojo · 17/01/2021 21:33

I'm thinking of upgrading my watch as I've only got a series 2 and it doesn't support Apple fitness. Would I be able to use my MacBook or just my IPad? Does anyone know?

OrangeSunset · 17/01/2021 21:50

Thanks thecapital, we’ve got Apple TV in the lounge and it works brilliantly in there.

I think you need the watch as it links the biometrics in your watch to the workout.

17CherryTreeLane · 17/01/2021 21:57

I love the workouts, but not being able to play it on the tv is infuriating! It's too hard to do them in my tiny phone, which is a shame.

You need a compatible watch. And it doesn’t work on the MacBooks. Only iPhone, iPad and Apple TV. And you can’t have more than one person working out at a time which is a shame - I’d love to do some of the hiit workouts with my husband.
