DS goes into the boarding house on Sunday, DD goes back to sixth form college on Monday. Although we have some covid tests to navigate first. I think they’re looking forward to seeing their friends again.

Epic day 22 (shoulders and core). Yes the full body workouts are tiring Roonetta. Think that's why she always has a rest day after them.

Good luck to all the DCs going back to school 🍀🍀

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 02/03/2021 15:29

Hope all the dc get back to school without too much fuss. We've been out since the end of the Christmas break, and ds really needed to get back to some routine. Dd is due to go back on 15th so fingers crossed the numbers stay steady.

I ran the school run yesterday and got another longer run at lunchtime today. Ds has started a boxing club (on zoom, could be interesting 🤔) and has to do a 1km time trial so I'll do that with him later.

roonetta · 02/03/2021 15:56

The school has now decided that they are staggering returns so DS is going back on Wednesday and DD on Friday for one day. Still maybe a slow return back will be better for them as I expect a full week would be tiring.

Like the sound of the boxing club Motherforkin.

Epic day 16 back and bicep 💪🏻 ✅

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 02/03/2021 16:07

I like the sound of the boxing too, I'm hoping to start a class myself when my shoulder allows!

OublietteBravo · 02/03/2021 19:43

DD and DS both have covid tests at their respective establishments tomorrow. DS has a second one on Sunday before being allowed back into the boarding house. All being well they’ll both be back at school from Monday. Plus it looks like DH has found a new job - just waiting to hear the details of the offer (should hopefully be tomorrow).

It feels like the rest of the family have excitement in their lives, whilst mine just continues on in limbo. Earliest date for being able to return to the office is currently mid-September. Ah well.

Just one DVD tonight. Cardio: BFBM D5 (50 min)

Epic day 23 glutes and abs. She did use the resistance band a bit today Roonetta but she either gave alternatives or the band was optional (eg squats without the band).

Good luck to your DH for the job oubliette 🍀

Our lockdown here is going to be made stricter. My eldest DCs have spent 1.5 weeks in proper school since beginning of November Sad

Great news on your DH’s new job Oubliette. Your excitement can begin when you finally get the house back to yourself Grin

Thanks for the heads up on the band Sophie. I’ll get one I think seeing as they are pretty cheap. Sorry to hear your lockdown is becoming stricter. Are your cases rising?

Epic day 17 leg day with dumbbells- pretty much 45 mins of lunges. My knees will hate me tomorrow.

OublietteBravo · 03/03/2021 19:39

I think he’ll still be WFH @roonetta - so no chance of getting the house to myself just yet! At least he’ll be busy.

Oh no @SophieLion - that doesn’t sound good Sad. My kids have been at home since the end of the first week in December (so pretty much 3 months) and that already seems like an eternity.

Exercising was hard work this evening, but I still did it. KAbs L2D3 and Ri30 L2D4 (65 min)

Well done Oubliette - it really is getting harder to summon up the motivation at the moment.

Great news for your dh, Oubliette, I hope he gets a package he's happy with. Further lockdown is tough Sophie Flowers. We are theoretically coming out of the current one on 5th April but I don't see it happening. At least they are trying to open schools this time.

I've been doing a lot of walking the last few days and ds's 1km time trials (spoiler, we're slow Blush ) but I'm bloody tired this week no matter how much I sleep.

OublietteBravo · 04/03/2021 19:42

I always seem to have a dip in my motivation in March @roonetta. I’m also bad in November. Not really sure why!

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 05/03/2021 16:32

Running again this morning although I slept really badly last night so it was hard work. I did ds's 1km with him on the way home from school and we were 15 seconds faster than earlier in the week which was a great boost for both of us!

Happy weekend Smile

OublietteBravo · 05/03/2021 19:53

Ri30 L2D5 and KAbs L3D3 (65 min). That’s a really difficult way to add 900 steps to my daily total!

Rest day yesterday.

Today day 25 epic (HIIT) - halfway through Epic now! - plus a Caroline girvan abs and core workout. There were some Jillian moves in the HIIT today and I realised how much stronger I have got Smile

Well done to your DS (and you!) for his 1km time MotherForkin 👏🏻

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 07/03/2021 20:57

Thanks Sophie, ds was thrilled with himself, he was 7th fastest exactly half way in his group.

I spent yesterday cleaning, even took the couch apart to move it and get under it. Today was a hill run and the weather was perfect for a very cold sea swim. I think it was the coldest of the year, water was 6.5c. I'm delighted I have got through the winter without using a wetsuit.

OublietteBravo · 07/03/2021 21:01

I have had two consecutive rest days for the first time in ages. I plan to resume my normal exercise schedule tomorrow.

OP posts:
roonetta · 07/03/2021 21:22

I’m embarrassed to say I have had three rest days Blush. In my defence we have been laying a floor all weekend so no time or energy for a 1 hour full body workout. As Oubliette has said, I also plan to resume my normal exercise schedule tomorrow.

SophieLion · 08/03/2021 07:48

I don't think it's bad to have rest days. And yes the one hour full body ones feel so long Roonetta- at least it's only once a week.

This year so far I've been only taking one rest day a week whereas last year was taking two a lot I think. Probably because I'm following this programme and although she allocates two rest days, I miss doing yoga and running so tend to do them on one of those rest days. My body feels ok though - I don't feel like I need time off at the moment. And the exercise is keeping me sane because lock down.......

Today Day 26 epic. Full body. I was concentrating so hard on counting the reps that I didn't look at the % counter until it was at 84% - sometimes I'm so wrecked so quickly and I look and it's on 7% or 9% !

That's very impressive to swim all winter with a wet suit MotherForkin. Are you still using your walking sleeping bag?

Days exercised 57

roonetta · 08/03/2021 15:33

Well done to you and your DS on the faster time Motherforkin. Glad you are still managing to get your sea swim in.

I prefer to do the hour workouts at the weekend. I thought today’s would never end. Well done on getting over halfway Sophie!! Star. Did you manage to get any heavier weights? I’m still using my 5kgs but think I could manage heavier for some moves. Are you seeing a difference anywhere?

Here’s me moaning about one 1 hour workout a week and Oubliette does over an hour each time Grin. Must have a word with myself.

Epic day 19 done

Days exercised 47

OublietteBravo · 08/03/2021 19:58

I didn’t used to do an hour each time @roonetta - I built up to that over several years. And there are definitely days when I have to make myself do the second DVD (and days where I do NMTZ or BFBM to ensure that there is no DVD to change).

Anyway, after my 2 rest days I thought I’d better get back to exercising before I got out of the habit and lost motivation. So this evening it was 6W6P L1D4 and Ri30 L2D6 (65 min)

(56/194; 58h 40min)

OP posts:

An hour always feels long to me too Roonetta. I find that if I'm stressing to finish because I've got things to do afterwards then I don't enjoy the workout. Maybe that's because I work out in the morning before I do any of my Work for the day.... do you have this problem oubliette (because I know you work out in the evening and you always do an hour plus)?

I've ordered 8kg dumbbells Roonetta. Wasn't sure whether to get 7 or 8. And forgot to order a yoga block - my poor dictionary has been stood on several times now for elevated lunges etc and I'm sure it will be ruined soon.

I've found the 10kg are ok for my lower body but I struggle with them as obviously I need to hold them and my arms aren't strong enough. Eg with Romanian deadlifts, my legs can handle 10kg but my arms start hurting after a while. I can make 6kg dumbbells by tying my ankle weights on my 5kg s.

I think I am getting a lot stronger generally. I've never done this style of strength and I like it. Some workouts do feel quite cardio though. Thank you for pointing me in this direction Roonetta Smile

Day 27 epic (triceps and abs) today.

Days exercised 58

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 09/03/2021 13:00

Busy day yesterday so I only managed a very quick swim. I had a run this morning. My lack of strength work is becoming a problem and I'm starting to get plantar fascitis so I'm taking inspiration from you all and I'm going to try the epic intro sessions on YouTube. I've a physio appointment later so hopefully she'll give me the ok to start some resistance work, even if I have to modify some of the sessions.
