Yes she's very pretty. I ran out of time and didn't get as far as investigating Epic 1. I might try the first epic 2 workout tomorrow (because I printed off the timetable!). Yes I also saw some workouts were an hour which is quite long as I don't always have an hour to spare.

Saying that it would be nice to share with you so perhaps I should look at epic 1 if you're going to do that.

roonetta · 02/02/2021 19:30

I am up for either one Sophie. Let me know what you think if you do the first Epic 2 tomorrow. I have printed off both schedules so happy to do Epic 2 😀

I slept badly last night and the weather was atrocious so I did an easy low impact cardio thing on YouTube today.

SophieLion · 03/02/2021 07:51

Hope you slept better MotherForkin and weather improves.

Today I did day 1 of Epic 1 (bodyweight and dumbbell lower body). Decided to do that Roonetta as wanted to work my lower body rather than whole body (day Epic 2 was cardio and HIIT) as did that yesterday.

I enjoyed it but it's quite different to what I'm used to. Was expecting more HIIT (don't know why....!) but really it was all strength (like JM's NMTZ). She was using 12.5kg dumbbells but my heaviest are 5kg and DH's lightest are 10kg (plus the weight of the little bar - so 11kg maybe). I used 5kg throughout except for the Romanian deadlifts. -used the 10kg ones for those and they were so heavy for me that my arms hurt!!! My legs feel a bit wobbly now (and were shaking away on the final sumo squat exercise) and will be interested to see how I feel tomorrow because it was pretty intense (but manageable - perhaps I need heavier weights?). had to google to check what she meant by hip extensions with squats (it's just "squeeze your bum at the top"). I'm also used to the trainers talking and enjoy the talking too whereas Caroline is silent throughout. Let me know what you think Roonetta!

Hope you had a better night MotherForkin.

The heaviest weights I have are 5kg Sophie - do you think that won't be heavy enough? Thanks for the tip about hip extensions Grin. I have done a couple of her shorter workouts and found it strange that she doesn't speak throughout. I found I had to keep looking up at the screen to see when the exercise was finishing, even though there is a beeping sound. I also like the trainers yelling talking so I am not sure how I will get on with this. Maybe I will create a playlist to keep me going. I'll be starting next week so I will let you know what I think.

KB&T L1D9 and 30DS L3D5 (65 min)

Lots of traipsing around to get my step count up. Life is soooo dull at the moment.

Epic day 2 (upper body). Having now done upper and lower body, for sure I need heavier dumbbells for lower body. My lower body is much stronger compared to my upper body too so today felt more of a workout for me. Problem is that everywhere seems to have sold out of dumbbells (checked numerous places online). Wanted to buy 8kg ones. Will just have to try with DH's 10kg ones for now.

Today's workout was nice. But, so many varieties of push ups (all done on my knees of course!). Had to google a scapular push up..... I really felt my arms and upper back but not so much lower back - I'm wondering if she includes that with abs and core (will see tomorrow!).

Sorry to hear things are dull Oubliette. To be honest, I'm just waiting for our schools to shut again... we are just going round in circles: cases drop, things open for 2/3 weeks and then we spend 3 months in lock down to get cases down again.....

It is dull Oubliette - hopefully things will start to improve soon Flowers

I like the sound of day 2 Sophie. I really want to work on my arms, they are the part of my body I hate the most (apart from my tummy of course but we won't dwell on that). I know what you mean about dumbbells being like gold dust at the moment. I was looking for some 4kgs but they are either non-existent or ridiculously expensive. I can't bring myself to pay twice the price for something. I have a feeling that the 5kgs might be enough for me to start with anyway Grin. How is the vaccination roll out going in Greece? I am hoping this will be our way out!

I think it was having to get takeaway for DS’s birthday on Tuesday that really hit me. We’d usually go out for a meal. I really miss being able to do that.

30DS L4D6 and KB&T L2D9 (70 min)

(30/220; 31h 55min)

And I’ve managed over 14,000 steps despite the pouring rain.

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 04/02/2021 21:00

God yes, the never ending dullness. But I hope your ds had a nice birthday in spite of it, Oubliette. Does that mean he didn't go back to school?

I got my swim yesterday afternoon it was bliss. Turns out I'm addicted to it Blush. My planned evening run was scuppered by having to pick up some home schooling necessities and ending up with a flat tire. I could've bothered after the hassle of changing it and getting home.

My run today was hard but I'm glad I went.

They're doing the vaccines here Roonetta but there is a whole EU shortage so no idea how fast it will go. Just waiting for next lockdown really.

Day 3 of epic (abs and core) plus a 10 min Caroline girvan glutes workout.

Short run and short swim today. My legs were like lead this morning, I think I might need to break up my running days... or maybe just get some sleep.

I skimmed through a couple of those Caroline Girvan videos, they look tough but good. She's a beast! My shoulder still isn't up for any resistance or weights work at all, is it worth doing just body weight?

SophieLion · 07/02/2021 10:06

Day 4 of epic. Was just over an hour with the warm up so felt like it took ages (but was enjoyable).

I think it depends which workout you dod Motherforkin. The lower body one literally didn't touch the upper body. She had a mixture of bodyweight exercises and weighted ones (just holding the weights - not moving them). I hate out when I do a run and my legs feel heavy like that.

Well done for keeping up with the programme Sophie. How are you liking it so far? I can’t wait to get started.

Two rest days for me this weekend.

Two more days of BS and then I will start Epic Grin

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 07/02/2021 18:41

Thanks, Sophie, I might have a go when the snow hits later in the week and I can't get out for a run.

My back was tired and achey yesterday so I had a short sea swim but nothing else. Feeling fine this morning so I did my hill run and a legs and core routine.

SophieLion · 07/02/2021 19:12

Actually I'm really enjoying it Roonetta. Even looking forward to the HIIT session tomorrow and wondering how it will be (because so far I've only done strength).

I also watched a Q & A session with Caroline girvan on you tube. She was talking about exercise and diet etc and I really like her approach - i share a lot of the her views. She also isn't gimmicky at all which I like.

Glad your back is feeling better MotherForkin. Kind of nice you will have snow. It's been summer weather again here. Yes you should try Caroline girvan. I saw on her you tube site that she has loads of different workouts so I am sure you will find something that works with your shoulder.

OublietteBravo · 07/02/2021 20:11

I had a rest day yesterday (although I did hit 20,000 steps). I’ve just done 30DS L3D7 and KB&T L3D9 (65 min).

I’m on 17,000 steps. Twice round the block would take me to 20,000. But it’s so cold and I can’t be bothered.

SophieLion · 08/02/2021 07:24

Epic day 5 (body weight HIIT). That was so tough.

No weights MotherForkin but quite a few planks, push ups and burpees so not sure if that works with your shoulder.

Well done for being bothered Oubliette! 👏🏻😆

Glad you are back at it Motherforkin. Brrrrr to the sea swim 🥶
