Love that 50 mins is a short session for you oubliette!

Strength for me today: day 13 of the challenges, butt/thighs and back followed by a short Cat Meffan yoga practice.

Unplanned rest day yesterday. Our lunchtime run/pe class was cut short by a minor bump horrific scooting injury which necessitated a return home for a plaster field dressing. I was working late so didn't have time to catch up later. I got out early this morning for my hill run so no pesky children could interrupt me today.

You probably got more out of NMTZ to be honest Oubliette - I would say you picked the harder "short" workout.

I feel for you MotherForkin - without fail, one of mine would always fall off their scooters when they went out on them. Getting them in the bath that same evening would be like you were putting them in acid.

BS WO5 done. It wasn't too bad although there were a couple of exercises where by the time I figured out what she was doing, she had moved on to the next exercise. Next time will be better.

You two made me laugh with the scooter
Incident and the acid bath!!! Hope your DC is recovering now MotherForkin.

SophieLion · 13/01/2021 15:38

Meant to say hardbody DVD is a bit like that Roonetta. Combos are really complicated so at the start always ended up winding it back so I could do the exercise and the whole Thing took twice as long Angry so I sympathise.

SophieLion · 13/01/2021 16:34

Final post for today: there is a show on BBC1 tonight at 9pm: the truth about getting fit at home.

Was reading a review and it sounds very interesting. Looks at HIIT, running, yoga,
dumbbells v resistance bands. It's a bit late for me (11pm here) so will watch tomorrow.

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 13/01/2021 18:33

God, yes, the acid bath last night. And whimpering today at the horror of me suggesting the trampoline with such a traumatised limb. Hmm (I do a good act at being a sympathetic parent in real life, I promise)

That programme sounds interesting, thanks Sophie.

OublietteBravo · 13/01/2021 19:16

I’m not at all convinced that NMTZ is harder. I’ve just done 30DS L2D1 & KB&T L2D4 (70 min). It was brutal. I’d far rather do NMTZ.

HIIT today: ripped in 30 L4 plus day 14 of my challenges.

Oh I meant to say that I watched that programme Sophie (on catch up as it clashed with Married at First Sight Australia Blush) and it was really interesting. I especially found the parts about resistance bands and sports bras interesting. Must get myself a proper sports bra!

OublietteBravo · 14/01/2021 19:31

I watched the programme too @roonetta. I agree that the bit on resistance bands was interesting. But I’m not adapting my Jillian workouts to incorporate them Wink

I really don’t enjoy level 2 of 30DS - but I'm pleased I’m persevering with it. KB&T L3D4 & 30DS L2D2 (1h 05min)

I managed to watch most of the fitness programme yesterday evening. Yes the resistance bands part was interesting - I guess we have to make sure we have proper form with dumbbells.also make sure the resistance band is the right resistance - might not be as easy as knowing which dumbbell to use. Also found the running technique interesting and how little strength you actually need to do each week!

Anyway today was day 15 of my two challenges plus a Cat Meffan yoga flow (which turned out to be quite hardcore and feeling wrecked now ....)

roonetta · 15/01/2021 13:38

I won't be adapting Jillian either Oubliette Grin - I might start doing extra short resistance band workouts though.

Sophie going by how much work I have put in, and the results I have gotten since starting in May 2020 (nowhere near where I want to be), I can't allow myself to believe only 6 minutes of strength gets you any results! Oh my God, what if it does though, and we have all been killing ourselves for nothing Shock

BS Cardio 2 done. I am giving myself a star today as when I watched this workout yesterday, I didn't think I would be able to get through it, but I did and am feeling proud GrinStar

SophieLion · 15/01/2021 16:35

Well done for getting through your workout Roonetta! Always good when you manage something that you didn't think you could do. Have a star from me too! 🌟

I have to say I'm not convinced about the 6 mins a week is enough. And even if the scientist is right, I am choosing to ignore! Don't think I could have achieved, for example, restoring my core strength and abs by doing only 1 min of abs a week.... (or maybe it just would have taken a lot, lot, lot longer..... Grin)

OublietteBravo · 15/01/2021 19:34

@roonetta, @SophieLion - I don’t think the only 6 minutes a week is meant for us. It’s for people who aren’t currently doing any exercise - to make them think that a manageable amount can make a decision. They surely don’t expect to encourage people to exercise less (well - aside from recommending a rest day each week. I think I’ll take mine tomorrow).

This evening did 30DS L2D3 & KB&T L1D5 (65 min)

(14/236; 15h 00min)

Currently on 11783 steps, so should be at 12k by bedtime.

7km Fartlek run plus day 16 of my abs and glutes challenges.

Tomorrow will be a rest day - looking forward to it!

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 17/01/2021 11:58

Ugh, I'm really lagging this month. I was in a lot of pain after my physio session on Thurs and then a migraine hit so I had two days of feeling pants with that. Fingers crossed this week will be more energetic. I got out early today for my hill run and then I went for a 5 minute dip. Water was definitely colder today. I don't know how you rub your face with ice, Sophie, I haven't put my face in the water since early November!

roonetta · 17/01/2021 13:33

Sorry to hear that MotherForkin - glad you are back to your awesome self today 😁

Two rest days for me. My body is definitely feeling the effects of Body Shred and I felt like a couple of days off would do it good.

OublietteBravo · 17/01/2021 18:45

Rest day yesterday. Back to exercising today. Cardio: BFBM (50 min)

Sorry to hear all this MotherForkin Thanks and hope you will feel better and have a better exercise week this week.

When I rubbed the ice cube on my face, we were having the warmest January for I don't know how many years. Today it's snowing so there is no way I would run an ice cube on
my face!!! Grin

Today was a strength day: did days 17 and 18 of my two challenges for abs and glutes plus extra strength for core, butt and arms and back.

Thanks for the nice wishes. Feeling better today. We had our PE lunchtime run then I got on the trampoline with the dc for half an hour. I was wrecked after it!

Day 19 of the two challenges plus a 5km fartlek run.

We used to do trampolining lessons at school MotherForkin and I loved it.
