I don't think this is helpful but after debating same for months I got a Apple Watch and love it. Far better than my old Fitbit.

nbee84 · 30/07/2020 07:22

Also have a look at Garmin. I moved to one from a fitbit and love it.

ilovespinach · 30/07/2020 07:30

I've had a Charge 3 for a week and it's great!

MrsJamin · 30/07/2020 07:31

I went from a fitbit charge 2 to a Garmin vivoactive 4s, it's brilliant. It depends what you need it for, can you explain what you do and want to do exercise wise and then people could help you find a suitable one?

Letsnotargue · 30/07/2020 07:32

I really like my Versa 2. It does everything I want without being too clunky

Normalmumandwife · 30/07/2020 07:33

I wanted the Apple Watch but it doesn't track sleep patterns

Nonagoninfinity · 30/07/2020 07:46

I got the charge 4 recently which I love. I found a questionnaire online which helps you choose which one works for you (based on what you'll use it for). I wanted a step counter, GPS, heart monitor and something I could control my Spotify with when running. I initially looked at Apple but to run without a phone would cost too much and the Fitbit did everything else I was looking for at a cheaper price.

lookatmememe · 30/07/2020 07:47

Don't bother with iconic, DH is on his second one and that's got the same non charge fault as previous one . I have the Inspire HR it's ok . Daughter had Garmin one, much better. So I'll be replacing our fitbits with Garmins this Christmas.

Endlessmizzle · 30/07/2020 07:48

I want to know all about garmins! What do they do that make them so great?!

After a back injury and long years of minimal excercise I am trying to become more active (walking as can’t run, pilates, hiit) and generally healthier - how will it help me?

lookatmememe · 30/07/2020 07:54

Daughters Garmin seems More accurate for a start, no problems charging, charge lasts longer. The three of us did a long walk together. Purposefully all noted steps before and after walk and compared afterwards, all three were wildly different despite the three of us staying together the whole 90mins. Garmin was most accurate when we googled the route.

RiseUpWiseUpEyesUp · 30/07/2020 08:08

I’ve had my versa for about 2 years and I wouldn’t be without it, I’ve never had any issues at all. It’s waterproof. The only time I had to replace it was when I lost my first one Blush

I’ve had both a garmin vivosmart hr and an Apple Watch (admittedly first gen Apple Watch) and would still choose the Versa!

nancybotwinbloom · 30/07/2020 08:12

@confusednortherner

What's the battery life on the Apple? I have a Versa 2 and went with that as the battery life is about five days.

acatcalledjohn · 30/07/2020 08:13

Snap @MrsJamin! I switched from the Charge 2 to the vivoactive 4s last month!

For me it was a case of wanting a GPS watch for running, but also something a bit more non smartwatch like. All of fitbit's smartwatches are square, I much prefer a round face. If only the Apple Watch came with a round face I would have gone there.

ditavonteesed · 30/07/2020 08:19

I went from Fitbit to Apple Watch and although I love it it drives me mad that the charge doesn't last long. I am considering switching back or maybe a farming, I only do walking.

cherrypiepie · 30/07/2020 08:22

I have had versa lite for 4 weeks. Its great for fitness tracking and can wear I shower, useful for notifications.

Love the sleep tracking. Like the look of it - went for white strap and silver case. Silicone strap can get a little warm but easily replaced. Easy to use. No gps.

I had loads of connectivity issues in the first few days and was super annoying but it's fine now. I would have got the Apple Watch if had known it was on offer at £195 (at the time) for Series 3.

PerfectionistProcrastinator · 30/07/2020 08:22

I have the inspire HR. I’m not sure how many fitbits now are waterproof as I’ve had this one a while now but that was my reason for choosing it. My hands are in water a lot at work and I wanted to be able to swim with it on.

Whymustyoubringinthebirds · 30/07/2020 08:24

I've got a polar ignite after having a fitbit for years and I love it, much better than the fitbit and has the option to pair with a chest hr band for more accuruate hr monitoring during workouts

confusednortherner · 30/07/2020 08:27

@nancybotwinbloom that was the thing that worried me but it's actually ok . I get about two days out it and it charges in about a hour.

confusednortherner · 30/07/2020 08:28

@Normalmumandwife I track sleep with a app on it and it's fine.

JaJaDingDong · 30/07/2020 08:28

all noted steps before and after walk and compared afterwards, all three were wildly different despite the three of us staying together the whole 90mins.

You probably all did do a different number of steps on the same route. Everyone's step length is different, so the total steps over a longish walk could be very different.
Was the distance they recorded similar?

nancybotwinbloom · 30/07/2020 08:33

@confusednortherner thank you.

I think I will keep this Versa for a bit till they get a bit more battery in the Apple.

SepticTankYank · 30/07/2020 09:22

I have an Apple Watch. If I do a heavy workout i don't get a full days charge and if I leave my phone at home and use the data/cellular bit, even less. (For example, I got up late today and put it on at 7am and did one 40 min workout. I'm already at 87%) It drives me mad. 0/10 would not recommend. I can't get rid of it tho because I really do love it and it cost me the earth. £500 plus £100 on the house insurance when it smashed.

I know a lot of people who have the versa (possibly 2) and have no issues. They are very happy with it.

JacobReesMogadishu · 30/07/2020 09:29

I went from garmin vivosport to the newest fitbit charge and regret it. The fitbit has a better battery and does stuff like show me what my HR was on different sections of a run or ride but it's so glitchy. It often turns itself off the exercise tracking after 5 mins so I get home with no data. Customer service just say to keep resetting it but it needs doing several times a week.

fellrunner85 · 30/07/2020 14:51

Garmins are the best in the business IME. Even the cheaper models just work. They're intuitive, simple to use, and are by far the most reliable bit of kit for tracking runs, rides, etc.
Fitbits are ok for faffing about with fitness data, but no good for tracking proper exercise. Apple watches are expensive, notoriously glitchy, and again not as good for run tracking etc. I know several Apple devotees who went for Apple watches as they thought it would sync better with their iphones and so on, but they ended up trading them for a Garmin.

Wtfdoipick · 30/07/2020 14:55

What do you want out of the fitbit? Which features do you actually use?
