Hi all - going to make this my challenge this month, assuming I don't get injured Hmm.

Did 10km this morning so off to a good start.

Anyone want to join me?

Just back from 11.17k - furthest I've run in a long time! (With a couple of walks up the steep bits) so now on 71.3k with 10 days to go

This has really pushed me to keep going out even when I didn't feel like it

Iamblossom · 20/06/2020 09:59

Well done Chocolate teabag!

Just finished an 8ish km slow run with my friend in the rain which takes me to 93km.

The pace I do with her, nice and steady but I can talk, is soo much better for my back than when I run alone.

I think I could do further than I usually do at that pace too, might try it on one of my solo runs next week, and try and get to 15km.

11.23km this morning, so am at 104km for the month!!

Now what shall I do? Hmm

Well done @lamblossom. I did 5k Sunday and 10K today so sat on 80k now. But the last few runs I have felt I am running on empty both have been hard slogs which is quite frustrating . Not sure why as I am sleeping/eating/exercising the same , Maybe it’s just running overload as until lockdown I was firmly in the 5k park run once a week bracket and have slowly increased my distance to running 10K at least twice a week I think in July I might reduce my distances down a bit and see how that goes. Anyone else ever feel like that, where each run feels like a hard slog despite being able to do it quite comfortably the week before?

Chocolateteabag · 24/06/2020 08:01

Good going @Iamblossom
Just done a hot 5.5k so along with the 5 I did on Monday I'm now at 81.6k - DH now has to go away with work Sun to Tue so will be finishing off the month running with DS1 who really hates it so maybe lots of hill reps while he watches complains

Chocolateteabag · 25/06/2020 08:25

Got up earlier this morning - it was still baking at 7am! Managed 6.94k(I hate that I didn't get that last bit!)
So at 88.5k with 5 days to go

I'm more than a bit glad the weather is going to break after today!

Iamblossom · 25/06/2020 12:45

Well done @chocolateteabag 👏🏻

Well done @lamblossom ! Maybe aim for 125km now?

After another couple of runs, my total is 92.5! Very close :)

Brimful · 25/06/2020 13:45

Anyone else ever feel like that, where each run feels like a hard slog despite being able to do it quite comfortably the week before?

@Stirmecrazy Yep! Sometimes it depends what I've eaten/drunk the day before, hormones, the weather, time of day, my mind-frame; so many factors.

The hard slog runs REALLY pay off in my experience though; they solidly build your fitness and endurance, and it doesn't mean you're going downhill - you'll bounce back on another run and smash a PB :)

bluebluezoo · 25/06/2020 13:47

Just seen this thread title- not been what I’d call running but making a real effort to get on the treadmill every day and walk/run/jog for an hour, sometimes 2.

Added up my km on my health app - i am very sedentary and if i don’t do the treadmill i do less than 1k post lockdown.

Anyway I am averaging 8.1k a day, 25th june so I’ve done just over 200k?

That’s quite inspiring. I’m still fat though Grin

Iamblossom · 26/06/2020 10:24

A very huffy puffy sweaty 5ish km this morning.

Somehow managed to get 10k done this morning - it rained, then burst of hot sun to get me super sweaty and red faced to then walk back up the hill through my village ConfusedGrin
So I'm now on 98k! It's all to play for on Monday!!

Iamblossom · 27/06/2020 15:02

Yes!! @chocolateteabag!!

I know weird weather this morning. I did 10km with my friend, rained for half of it. Longest run she has done in ages and she is slower than me so I found it very easy, but it's a great steady pace to run at and being able to chat all the way round is very pleasant.

126km

Chocolateteabag · 27/06/2020 16:20

@bluebluezoo good going to get to 200k in less than a month!

I keep rewarding myself for running with treats later, so have only maintained my weight rather than reduce it. But realistically I don't have a lot to lose (that last half stone that is the bugger) so I'm not stressing

Iamblossom · 27/06/2020 19:10

I have gained 2 or 3 pounds since lockdown. No change to diet, same wine consumption and much more running. Go figure

OP posts:
Stirmecrazy · 28/06/2020 10:40

Well another 10K done today so just one more 10K on Tuesday needed to get to 100k. As usual leaving things to the last minute to finish.
My weight hasn’t changed either . More running but more snacking too so I have to keep a fine balance otherwise I could easily pile the pounds on

Brimful · 28/06/2020 19:37

Woohoo! 110.5km completed, with one last run (prob just a 5k) planned the day after tomorrow.

Just to mention, if it helps, I've cut out all booze and treats/snacking this month and I've lost half a stone - I wasn't overweight but it's nice my jeans are looser and I look more toned. :) not getting any faster though!!

Iamblossom · 29/06/2020 07:35

Well done @brimful!!

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

And to the half stone. I could do with ditching the booze, become a nightly habit but its my only (nutrition) vice... 😭😭😭

OP posts:
Brimful · 29/06/2020 07:46

Iamblossom honestly same here, lockdown really bought out the boozer in me! I used to drink at weekends only but I was having one or two G&Ts, ciders or ports every night. Blush I'm very healthy otherwise.

I felt so bloated and gross, cutting it out totally has made a huge difference. Not drinking has eliminated my snack cravings too. Was amazed when that much weight dropped off this month, 1.5 inches off my waist where it was hanging on.

It's worth a try!

Iamblossom · 29/06/2020 12:52

I'll think about it. I might try alternating nights. I "only" have 2 drinks per night but I know it soon adds up.

I'm 8 stone 11 at nearly 5 foot 4, so don't really want to lose half a stone but I know it's not doing me any favours 🙄🙄🙄

7km this morning, think it might be my fastest pace yet? 5 42.

134km for the month 🙌

OP posts:
Chocolateteabag · 29/06/2020 16:04

I did it!!! 100.8k
Had to do shuttles back and forth round DC1 and a limping dog (she tore her dew claw on Saturday so had it taken off - she only limps when she remembers she has a bandage on)

DH not back til late tomorrow so won't get out again - but that's ok. Will save myself for July's 100

@Brimful - I need to cut down on drinking - I don't drink loads but it's the 1 drink on a week night here and there which I could do without
Plus I am a snacker!

100km running in June anyone?
bluebluezoo · 29/06/2020 16:37

I’m up to an average of 8.7 k/day on the treadmill, so 250k in june. Probably will do another 5-10 k tomorrow

I’m always bitter because I am teetotal, how I wish i could cut the alcohol out and lose half a stone Grin

I’m about 2 st to 2.5 st overweight which is why My distance is mainly walking- if I run it will be short sprints. I’d rather walk a 5k than run, even if it takes longer. Mind my running speed for anything over 2 mins is about 6km/hr, yet I can walk comfortably for long periods at 5.5 km/hr.

Plus my joints stay healthy walking!

Stirmecrazy · 30/06/2020 09:27

Well done everyone on completing . I did my final 10K this morning to take me over the 100K ( I think final tally would be around 102k for the month as my route is slightly more than 10K) and am I glad that is over!
I have enjoyed the challenge but I think the distances/frequency needed were just a little too much for me at my present fitness level. I will definately still keep running in July but probably nearer 6/7k a time which is more manageable for me and hopefully means I am not staggering around all day as my legs seize up!

Iamblossom · 30/06/2020 16:03

Well done everyone. 👍🏻🤗

I’ve just checked my Garmin as this made me curious! I have done 282 km in June 🤦‍♀️😬 crikey
