Trying to be “socially distant” and also now the gyms have closed I could do with some things to do at home. Any suggestions?

Peloton are offering 90 days free...lots of virtual exercise classes.

Fallstar · 21/03/2020 17:11

YouTube is your friend! I like Fitness Blender and PopSugar for free workouts (lots of them don't need equipment) but there are loads of others.

ToniLouise90 · 21/03/2020 17:37

Sportingtouch.com all the way!! I recently purchased some home workout items from them, resistance bands and a resistance tube, love them, lots to choose from and came straight away! I noticed them on Hanna Oeberg’s Instagram account, she does really good workouts too ☺️

I have a concept 2 rowing machine I bought years ago. Going to get much more use I think!

OhioOhioOhio · 21/03/2020 17:47

These sound good thanks.

I have a mat and nothing else but want to use the next 12 weeks as a major stepping stone to losing weight!
Does anyone have a clue what exercise class I can do at home every day that will tone everything and help me lose the weight?
Thank you!

Lordfrontpaw · 22/03/2020 10:41

I’m in a small flat - but if i can find something that involves jumping up and down I’m will happily do that (my neighbours are very very very loud and annoying!).

Check out Strong Like Mummy on Facebook. m.facebook.com/stronglikeMummy/

She's a stay at home mum who does fitness routines and healthy living advice/recipes etc. Very realistic advice and ideas.

I did various of the Jillian Michaels DVD's a few years ago, that sort of thing is pretty good.

Lordfrontpaw · 22/03/2020 16:09

I’ve just had a look at she Jillian Mitchell app and might give it a go!

Todayisanewday75 · 25/03/2020 08:00

Heather Robertson has a 12 week plan on YouTube, you need weights and a stability ball is useful but not essential

Thickmuthafuckers · 25/03/2020 08:03

PE with Jo Wicks! It’s only 30 mins a day and it’s a great workout!

HermioneWeasley · 25/03/2020 08:05

I’ve cracked out jillian Michaels 30 day shred again. Ow.

randomsabreuse · 26/03/2020 11:57

PE with Joe Wicks is way more of a workout than I expected. Probably up there with the first two 30 day shreds (never done 3 properly!). More variety of exercises too as it has changed each day with only a couple of overlaps!

inwood · 26/03/2020 12:01

Joe Wicks has loads of free content on You TUbe not just the PE with.

notacooldad · 27/03/2020 19:32

Davina's Own your goals is free for 30 days. It is really good.
I did the intermediate work out and my thighs are feeling it! The yoga is good.

Sturmundcalm · 27/03/2020 20:47

I like Jillian Michaels but you do need to watch as some of them are quite intense if you're not particularly fit to start with - you just need to do more stretching than she does at the end IMO... Banish Fat Boost Metabolism is cardio and doesn't require any equipment at all, but most of the rest you could do with a couple of water bottles or tins of beans as weights. I did the Shred for 2 days on Tues/Wed and still feeling my upper arms.

Have also been doing Yoga With Adriene in the evenings to try and help me sleep!

DS has been doing Joe Wickes PE session every morning and has enjoyed it, and a friend has raved about Oti Mabuse's dance sessions but I'm not co-ordinated enough for dance!

dementedpixie · 27/03/2020 20:48

I've done body combat a few times from youtube

MaMisled · 27/03/2020 20:56

I have 2 x 1kg weights, stairs and dance music on Spotify! I just dance madly and badly, run up and down stairs, jog on the spot and stretch and box with the weights for 20 to 40 mins a day. Coupled with 2 x hour long, brisk dog walks daily, i stay pretty toned and it all lifts my mood and reduces my appetite. Completely free!

Squidsister · 27/03/2020 20:59

Just joined the Davina website for the free 30 day trial and liking it so far!

Sharpkat · 27/03/2020 21:01

The FitOn app has loads of free 15-30 min workouts. Some are live, some are prerecorded. I am going to try some of those.

BelfastSmile · 27/03/2020 22:14

I love cycling, so bought a turbo trainer for my bike. It's basically a stand, you slot the back wheel into it and then there's a roller thing to provide resistance, and you pedal away. Our back garden is small, but it doesn't take up much room. I got it second hand from a local bike shop for £25.

dementedpixie · 27/03/2020 22:27

w8gym.com/collections/all

I bought one of these today in the hope I can cobble together a body pump routine using it as I cant find weights anywhere else

Womenwotlunch · 28/03/2020 00:43

Doing my Insanity max30 DVD’s.
Intense , but it works

SingingSands · 28/03/2020 00:58

I've signed up to Davina's 'Own Your Goals' website as it's free for 30 days. Started yesterday with the intermediate workouts and it was good, although I couldn't follow the yoga at the end!

I also follow PureGym on Instagram, it's the gym group I'm a member of. They have free content and the legs, bums n tums class on Monday was really good - much harder than my usual class!

I follow a couple of PureGym "insiders" on Insta, as week as Joe Wicks, Fitness Blender, Blogilates and Yoga with Adrienne on YouTube. It's good to have a few accounts to follow just to mix it up.
