Trying to be “socially distant” and also now the gyms have closed I could do with some things to do at home. Any suggestions?

Our leisure centre is offering free Les Mills on demand

Sorry for the hijack but are there any online classes that would be good for a 16-year old boy? DS going nuts, as am I

SimonJT · 28/03/2020 06:56

Insanity is very good.

Do you have any gym equipment at home?

Todayisanewday75 · 28/03/2020 06:56

Have a look at Joe Wicks PE on YouTube. Its more of a workout than I thought it’d be. I’d imagine a 16 year old could do any of his workouts too

SybilWrites · 28/03/2020 07:03

I'm going a bit overboard - do Joe Wicks in the morning with the 11 yo, and Jillian Michaels 30 day shred at lunch with my 17yo. A bit of yoga when I feel the stress building too much.

I also run outside every day. I'm aiming to set up the bike roller (currently hidden in the cellar).

Something has to counteract all the chocolate and wine I'm consuming.....

I already have kettle bells and weights so am using them and have been doing press ups and sit ups. but I do not feel achy or anything so I think it's probably not enough.

I bought a vertical stepper to use indoors. It’s sturdy and pretty compact.
Managed 30 mins today, will try that every day

@ItsNotAboutTheChocolate I can recommend the Joe Wicks PE sessions with teens. I’ve done it every day with our 16 and 17 year olds and they are following that up with a group chat yoga and conditioning sessions with friends. Joe Wick has almost killed me but they are really enjoying it, especially doing it live, because they are then up and ready to do some of the mountains of school work they are being set!

I have cracked out my two Davina DVDs and doing one of them every other day. I am also running every other day and walking my dogs. I am going to be a FitasFuck Raging Alkie by July.

MrsJBaptiste · 30/03/2020 16:21

I'm used to going to the gym 4-5 times a week although I do admit to doing the same routine quite often.

Seeing as the gyms are shut (and I'm stuck inside for 12 weeks) I dig out JM's 30 day Shred and bloody hell, I forgot how hardcore this is if you stick to it rigidly and don't take any breaks within the half an hour.

I'd better see some difference in 30 days though!

BIWI · 30/03/2020 16:23

Bought myself a skipping rope and have started doing that outside on our patio.

10 minutes of skipping = 30 minutes of jogging, apparently.

ritzbiscuits · 30/03/2020 18:02

Would highly recommend Les Mills on Demand. I do Body Balance, Body Combat, Barre (a ballet one), Sh'bam (a dance workout) and Body Step.

You pay about £10 per month, but the quality and range is so much better than most of the workouts on You Tube.

Sharpkat · 02/04/2020 17:33

I did 30 day shred today. I had forgotten how tough it is if you keep up. Going to keep doing it. Bought the dvd when it came out and had only ever done it once so nice to finally dust it off!

myidentitymycrisis · 02/04/2020 17:39

I’m in an upstairs flat with virtually no sound insulation. Any ideas what I can do indoors that won’t make me very unpopular?

ritzbiscuits · 02/04/2020 20:34

@myidentitymycrisis Yoga with Adriene on You Tube. Obviously not noisy/high impact but so good for you.
