Hi, how long do you think it would take to tone my flabby belly? Say if I did plank for a minute every day and another 10 mins of yogary type stomach exercises?

I eat well, and I’m trying to drink more water and despite being slim and reasonably toned everywhere else, I’ve always had this soft belly 😩

If you want visible Abs then you need very low body fat. Probanly at the very bottom of the healthy BMI range, if not lower. Not really a healthy goal on its own.

If you want a strong core for health reasons then yes, yoga will help with that but I'd say you need to do more than just the asana that obviously focus on the core. Go to a class to get some help with the basics or look at some of the 'Yoga with Adriene' beginners videos. She also does 30 days of yoga series in Jan each year, day 6 is the '6 pack abs' day that concentrates on core work. But the more yoga you do the more you'll realise how much you use your core. I'm really aware of it when swimming but e.g. a strong core is really important in sports like football as well. What sport do you do currently?

BubblesBubbly · 30/07/2019 12:48

Thanks @CountFosco.

Yeah, I would prefer a strong core more than the 6pack abs but would like to lose the flab 😀

I used to do a lot of kayaking and canoeing so have residual strength particularly in my sides and back.

My main sport atm is Mountain biking and running but I’m getting back in to rock climbing which I used to do more of in my 20s.

I love adrienne!!

You have a great belly!

I want one like yours. I need to loose about 5 lb (not much) and tone this. It’s disgusting.

Im 5’2”
Weigh 8st 13
Size 10
And look pregnant.
Im fit, i run for miles but this is getting me down. Been planking for about 2 months and see no difference.

@Lindormilk I’m pretty much similar to you, same height, same size, but I weigh more - 9 stone, or I think just over now.
Never been as heavy as this.
Got to just under 8 stone about 5 years ago, but always had a slight tummy even then.
I’m 42, and feeling like it gets harder every year or two to keep weight off, and the only way to shed it is be ‘all or nothing’ about dieting/fitness.
Anyone up for going all out on the fitness and healthy eating?
I’ve seen an offer at a local gym - pay £400 for unlimited personal training over 8 weeks.
I’m in London, so that seems like a good deal, if I went every other day.
I find that if I pay upfront to have someone motivating me, that works well.

desperatesux · 03/08/2019 16:47

Tracy Anderson ab floor mat workout. Takes about 5 mins but you need to do it every day. Within 2 weeks you will see a huge difference and in 6 u will have definition in your stomach- it’s amazing. I got lazy after the summer and stopped but the affects still lasted a year. You need to watch it a few times before you do it as she moves quickly through it

CheekyFocker · 03/08/2019 16:49

Mine looks like that (late 40s) and I am starting to think it is just excess skin as nothing I do makes it any smaller and there have been times when I've been super fit!

StyleOfTheTimes · 03/08/2019 16:50

If you go to YouTube and search for Lucy wyndham-read her workouts are fab. She explains how each move will help with certain muscle groups

Lindormilk · 03/08/2019 16:51

See im 44. Nearer to 45. And i really think its age. I eat healthily, but i like my bread. I dont snack. I used to be skinny, 3 kids (lightest 8lb 1oz heaviest 9lb 2lb).

Today for example:

7:30 coffee just milk. 2 slices of toast with jam.
1:30: 2sluces of Mediterranean bread with flora, 6 cubes of cheese, bits if chicken tikka.
Water through out, tea will be chicken breast panfried, veg and sweet potato mash.

No alcohol as i have a 10 mile run at 7am.

Lindormilk · 03/08/2019 16:52

Just done these. 3 sets.

Andallofasuddenitsover · 03/08/2019 17:06

I have this problem. I’m tiny, toned, my arms and legs are very very defined but my tummy just won’t tone. It’s driving me insane.

Leakinglikeacolander · 03/08/2019 17:12

You do realise OP that for many people your photo is the 'after' picture rather than the 'before '
Grin

BubblesBubbly · 03/08/2019 17:15

You’re lighter than me @Lindormilk. I’m 5’5 and 9.3stone.

It seems to be a tough bit to firm up. I’ve changed my diet, cut out bread! Hoping it’ll help

BubblesBubbly · 03/08/2019 17:16

BubblesBubbly · 03/08/2019 17:22

Oh @Lindormilk that sounds like a good day of food Grin... I have noticed a difference cutting out bread. But I love toast!!

OP posts:
BubblesBubbly · 03/08/2019 17:23

Haha @Leakinglikeacolander I know it’s not that bad in comparison but it really bugs me!

OP posts:
Lindormilk · 03/08/2019 17:39

I love bread. I also think that us a problem. Tried fruit for breakfast but i was still hungry 😆

Could do pancakes with fruit instead of toast. I dont really like porridge but i force myself to eat it for morning runs. Tried overnight oats too🤮

BubblesBubbly · 03/08/2019 17:49

Yeah overnight oats are vile! Not sure what the fuss was about!

OP posts:
Leakinglikeacolander · 03/08/2019 17:52

@BubblesBubbly Thought it was just me who hated overnight oats.

tigerbear · 04/08/2019 22:38
