Anyone fancy doing a triathlon training thread? Sprint or Olympic or GOTri or Ironman or whatever? Compare training, schedules, competitions and the mega kit fest that is triathlon.

There have been a couple of threads in the last year or two but they’ve dropped off the radar. Please join me! Smile

Triskirun99 your pool sounds fab, I've seen quite a few triathletes going down the tethered swimming route. Our local lake reopens at the weekend and I'm booked in for Tuesday night. I can't wait! Although I might not remember how to swim...

Can't believe it's almost a year since Staffs. I should be in the final peak training phase for IMUK but that will have to wait until next year. I think it's a blessing in disguise in a way as I've been trying to improve my base running fitness and bike power so hopefully I've got more chance of finishing it next year.

We got a bestway pool from Argos Grin I’m luckily short so I can swim in the 10ft one ok. I’m slightly worried we are due to pick up a puppy in 3wks time that the pool may have to come down again though 😔or risk it damaging the sides. I’ve kept the water clean with a basic chemical set & making sure the kids were clean before going in, so we treated it like a swimming pool rather than a paddling pool which would normally get full of grass in a few minutesGrin it cost less than one months family swim fees so a relatively cheap investment.

My local Open water sea swim Triathlon has been cancelled such a shame as it was small scale, local and all outdoors off the beach but the council won’t give them a licence even though it’s in September when the tourists have mostly gone. I was using it as my summer training goal as it was forcing me to work on my sea swimming which I find nerve wracking but I’ve been building my distance slowly.

Think the local go-Tri and sprint is going to try and go ahead in early Sept. it’s my back up one, we’ve done it, my daughter and I, the last 3yrs so we were going to do a different one this year but that’s been cancelled so hoping this one is all go now. Anyone else got an event going ahead?

The Castle Triathlon series say they’re going ahead with Chateau Chantilly at the end of August and Hever Castle tri in September. Fingers crossed!

Ahhh! French quarantine just introduced so I guess we won’t be doing Chateau Chantilly. Merde!

Hope you still get to do something sleep, I’ve signed up for a small group doing a longer sea swim with an instructor in a couple of weeks. I’ve been slowly working on getting more confident on sea swimming out further from the shore so this will really test me as it’s a point a - b swim. It’s not so much the distance but the deep water and you don’t get to stop & push off from the side feeling of a swim pool just have to keep going or float if you need a rest.

Yah our mini Tri went ahead today it was good to be at a socially distanced event with my daughter in the sunshine. Still waiting for final results but I did it 1min30 faster than last year and that included a swim I had to walk a couple of times as the snake start meant a couple of folk really didn’t estimate their swim times very well with head out of water breaststroke 🙄in the middle of the pack and front crawlers coming after them... beautiful sunny day for it though. I’m in SW where CV cases are very low at the moment.
Anyone else lucky to get an event in before we all locked down again?
