Alicatz66 · 19/08/2018 10:38

I'm on it this morning !! Off to a rebounding class then my W6R1.... my DP is hungover so should be comedy element too !!
Good Morning all !

PetraDelphiki · 19/08/2018 19:10

W2r2 done total distance 3.17km...not sure about this 90s running lark tho!

squiggletea · 19/08/2018 19:35

Sorry to hear about your cat Alicatz. They are a special part of our families.

Well done on the run, especially when your plans had to change.

Running does provide a mini escape from life , doesn’t it?

FATEdestiny · 20/08/2018 08:25

PetraDelphiki, give it a couple of weeks and you'll look back at you're struggles with 90 seconds run (when you can run gorgeous 5 minutes) and be proud of the amazing progress you've made.

Just keep going!

Alicatz66, how was your week 6 run? It's not unusual to struggle a bit with the return to intervals runs in W6R1 and W6R2. It's easy to go out too fast after the massive confidence boost that W5R3 gave you.

Alicatz66 · 20/08/2018 19:21

I did struggle a bit yesterday FATEDestiny ... very humid and did the hill ... noticed such a difference from 6 weeks ago .. I was holding a conversation with DP on an 8 minute run which I couldn't have done before !! W6R2 is Wednesday and run 3 in Spain on Friday ... will have to do it early and flat !

PetraDelphiki · 21/08/2018 12:17

W2r3 done....didn’t die!!

DropZoneOne · 25/08/2018 11:12

Well done Petra keep going! Have you done W3R1?

Ali how was the rest of week 6?

I'm onto week 9 now, and today did my first parkrun! I chose a small, local one ... and quickly realised the reason it's fairly quiet is because it has a bitch of a hill in the middle and you run it 4 times 🤣 By the third lap I'd worked out I could walk up the hill faster than I could run up the hill, but I ran the rest of it and I think my time was about 37 minutes but waiting for the official results.

MrsMarigold · 25/08/2018 14:43

I started and did the first two weeks then last Sunday I was so exhausted I really felt hideous and then on Tuesday I came out in hundreds of spots - blooming chickenpox. I've been in bed all week and totally inert. I guess once I'm better I'll have to start again with week one. So annoyed and my seven year old and six year old want to do it too, do you think they'll be ok?

DropZoneOne · 25/08/2018 15:10

Hi MrsMarigold, sorry to hear you've been poorly.

I'd go back to week 2 and start from there. If that's too much, you can drop back to week 1 but you might find that you're fine with the 90 seconds running. And if week 2 feels good, jump back in to week 3.

I think it's fine for children. There was an 8 year old at Parkrun this morning, she beat me! My official time came in at 36 minutes, which I'm pretty chuffed with for a tough course.

Alicatz66 · 25/08/2018 15:23

DropZoneOne .... I did Runs 1 and 2 of week 6 ... I'm now in Spain and I bought my running stuff but I just can't face it in the heat !!! When I get back I'm planning W6R3 .. do you think that's ok as I will have only had one week off .. or shall I start week6 again ?

FATEdestiny · 26/08/2018 19:17

I would probably run one of the week 6 interval runs before the 25 minute run. So either redo W6R2 or both W1 and W2.

I mentioned earlier that my DH started C25K recently, having not done exercise for 20 plus years. To be exact he started 20 days ago, doing a run every day. Today he did one of the Week 7 25 minute runs, decided to carry on running instead of doing the cool down and did his first 5K run! In under 32 minutes, so a good fast pace too!

DropZoneOne · 27/08/2018 00:13

Fate wow, well done to Mr FATE! That's a great time.

amy85 · 27/08/2018 14:50

Hi, hope it's ok to join...I started c25k a few weeks back..I do most my runs on the treadmill at the gym but today went out for the run instead....I have just completed w6r1 this morning and feel amazing about my progress so far but can also feel myself psyching myself out of the w6r3 run just like I did with the w5r3 run,it didn't work btw I smashed the 20 mins run and got all the way to 15 mins before I thought is it over yet lol..need to figure out how to stop the psyhcing myself out rubbish lol

PetraDelphiki · 27/08/2018 15:09

W3r1...yay!!!

FATEdestiny · 27/08/2018 16:03

need to figure out how to stop the psyhcing myself out rubbish

I've come to the conclusion that 80% of running is psychological. It's all about thinking you can't do this, rather than physically not being able to.

That carries on by the way. Psycing yourself out of a running aim (or Psycing yourself into achieving) isn't just the domain of C25K or near runners. Most of the runners I know are constantly having to fight their own self doubt over their running. You just get better with time at knowing that even though you think you can't do it, you can and you will do it!

DropZoneOne · 27/08/2018 16:09

Yay, well done Petra

Amy W6 is fantastic! If you go back a few posts, you'll find Fate's pep talk to get me through W5R3. Your body can do this, so tell your mind you can do it. You are a runner now, you can run for at least 20 minutes. You can smash 25 minutes, it's just a little bit further, keep a steady pace. Imagine all of us on this thread cheering you on!

amy85 · 29/08/2018 15:25

Just about to start w6r3 eeeek!!!!

amy85 · 29/08/2018 22:17

I survived lol

PetraDelphiki · 30/08/2018 20:25

W3r2 yesterday - although I was running really slowly (my friend was brisk walking to keep up) - I did at least have running movements and kept talking!

Next one tomorrow...

squiggletea · 30/08/2018 22:26

Well done Amy and Petra.

Week 6 run3 is when I started to feel like a runner.

Running is running, Petra. You’re still lapping you on the sofa. Sounds like you have a good friend supporting you Smile.

I’m struggling to get out at the moment. There’s a dull ache in my shin - at rest not when I run. I think I’ve worn my trainers out!

PetraDelphiki · 31/08/2018 10:51

Today was really hard for some reason - second 3 mins seemed forever :-(

Alicatz66 · 31/08/2018 17:13

I'm going out to do W6R3 tonight ... after a week on holiday with no running !!! Will see how it goes .. if can't do will re do Week 6 next week

Alicatz66 · 31/08/2018 19:12

Just back from W6R3 ... managed it .. but not easy !!!
