Eeeek I did it, 20 mins of non-stop running. I’m so chuffed Grin. I did a mapmyrun after and worked out I covered 3k in the running time. Bloody knackered now 😂

Dancergirl · 10/05/2018 16:42

Wow well done avon

Helpmeplan · 10/05/2018 16:57

Well done Avon.

CatNut2017 · 10/05/2018 19:07

Avon well done! I hope that will be me in a week's time.

RocketPockets · 10/05/2018 21:04

Well done Avon!
I did that run a few days ago and it feels so good to have done it doesn't it?
I did W6R1 tonight (I think) next running on Saturday and then Monday which I believe is a 25 minute run! Not looking forward to that...

AvonCallingBarksdale · 10/05/2018 23:07

Thanks everyone Smile. It definitely feels like a turning point.

PoopMaster · 11/05/2018 07:14

W4R3 completed, definitely feels like my left foot is not very happy. I also need to change routes - this one has a few up/downhill bits which I think might be hurting it (more on the downhill).

Great to hear others' progress, and hope you're on the mend catbingo

Travellinghopefully2018 · 11/05/2018 16:13

Nice one avon! That’s definitely the most satisfying run imo as it’s such a leap.

Was meant to be running this afternoon but sitting with a coffee and a caramel biscuit Blush must get up and out tomorrow. Might try and run Sunday as well.

User10661815 · 11/05/2018 18:50

I'm going to get some new trainers this weekend. Worked out that mine are 6 years old now; they've taken me through training to do the 3 Peaks Challenge, several aborted C25K attempts, training for and doing the moonwalk as well as a billion dog walks. I suspect that's why I injured my foot because they are so old now. They've worked hard but need retiring.

Helpmeplan · 12/05/2018 06:53

Well. I ran 1.5 miles in 14 minutes this morning, so I clearly need to increase my distance now.

Cat when I was fit and doing 5k 3 times a week I changed my trainers every 6 months I killed them that much.

Really not liking my mid section right now, so I have to get on top of my calorie consumption asap.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 12/05/2018 07:54

Catbingo I just googled and it said trainers should be changed after 300-500 miles Shock Rather a broad range but I reckon 6 years will have covered that Grin
Helpmeplan that’s a great run you’d be on for a 30 min 5k wouldn’t you? I actually think I’ve shed some attractive back fat but I need to reduce calorie intake too. DH is marathon training and I seem to think I need to refuel in the same way Hmm

Helpmeplan · 12/05/2018 08:49

Yes. I think I would but no way I'd be able to keep that pace for 5k right now. Going to do 1.5m Monday, then up it to 3m Wednesday and Saturday next week. See how I get on.

Hope everyone is well

Travellinghopefully2018 · 12/05/2018 09:18

Just done w8r2. Feels like it’s getting harder rather than easier! I’m definitely slower than I was a couple of weeks ago. Had to walk (an unexpected and steep!) hill today which disappointed me. Should keep focused on how good it is to be running 28 minutes at all though but for some reason instead of endorphins I just get a big ‘you’re not doing well enough’ slump Sad

Luuby86 · 12/05/2018 15:06

Just completed w7r3 this morning. Been a bit of a funny week this week, and ended up having to do 4 runs this week, including one on the sweltering Bank Holiday Monday. Hadn't managed to complete any of the previous 25min runs without any little walking breaks until... Today :)

I definitely think I am an early morning runner.... My mind seems so much more willing first thing.

Can't believe how close to the end we're getting now... 😬😬😬

Helpmeplan · 12/05/2018 20:15

Just had to buy new trainers because my arches and lower legs are killing me. Back to Nike Winflo 4. Did try Brooks Ghost 10 which feel immense but I've always trusted Nike.

How is everyone?

CatNut2017 · 12/05/2018 21:02

Hi all,

I start week 5 tomorrow. I am amazed & proud that I have stuck to it so far. I still don't know how i will run 20 mins non stop on Thursday morning but am choosing to believe in the process.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 12/05/2018 21:47

Luuby86 wow that’s great 😀. I’m doing w6r1 tomorrow - seems weird to go back to intervals after the 20 minute run this week, but I guess it’s all part of the plan.
We should have a virtual “graduation ceremony” whenever one of us finishes W9R3 Grin

DianaT1969 · 13/05/2018 08:44

Can I join please? New to running and just did w1r2. I did the 1st one on a treadmill and the 2nd in a park. Treadmill was definitely easier. Very proud that I ran in the rain. Never thought that would be me. Am going abroad for work today, so have packed trainers to continue next week. I think I'll need to do wk1 twice, before moving on because I really don't have much stamina yet. About 1.5 stone overweight, so it should get easier as that comes off.

mikado1 · 13/05/2018 08:49

I'd like to join too- I'm on week 4R2 tomorrow. Delighted that last week's 3 min run now seems easy enough. Dying to progress but believe completely in the programs so will be nexr sat before I move on to week 5. Definitely feel in more svelte!

GingerIvy · 13/05/2018 10:45

Complete beginner here. We've walked 2 junior parkruns now, so this week I'm starting C25K so I can keep up with the dcs. They have SNs and are unable to run the entire way, so it's a work in progress for all of us. I'm overweight and really need to get in better shape.

User10661815 · 14/05/2018 16:36

Looks like I'm off running for a few weeks due to foot injury probably caused by ancient trainers with inadequate support. Gutted.

travellingwithoutmoving · 15/05/2018 06:11

Just done w8r2. Long runs aren't getting much easier but just battling through, knowing I am capable does help get through it. Starting to have problems with blisters, worried my 2 year old (but until this almost unused) trainers are going to need replaced. Only 4 runs to go though!

Haven't lost any weight (am at very top of my healthy BMI so could do with dropping a stone to my pre-DC weight) as haven't really changed diet but feel a lot firmer and stronger.

Keep going everyone Smile

CatNut2017 · 15/05/2018 07:08

Does it ever get easier? W5R2 later today.
Sometimes I am tempted to go back to week 1 just so it's easier.

mikado1 · 15/05/2018 09:19

Wk 5 looks like the first big jump tbfair,,I have one more w4 to go before that.

tell myself it's still hard because that's how fitness is built and if it was easy, everyone would be doing- this is the time for pride and self congratulation! Grin

Travellinghopefully2018 · 15/05/2018 09:53

catbingo so sorry to hear that. You must be so frustrated. You’ll get back on it though, I hope your recovery doesn’t take too long.

W8r3 complete. Feel a bit better about today’s run, turned off map my run and just ran, no information on times or anything which helped me. Feel like I’m going to finish on a whimper and not a hoorah at this rate, as I still don’t feel as confident as I should be. I’m always out of breath for a start, surely by now I shouldn’t be panting for the entire 28 minutes?!
