I try to do four gym sessions a week, one yoga class and walk my dog for an hour every day.

Sounds like you're off to a good start Halo

Aebj · 15/06/2017 13:53

Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 60 min boot camp
Tuesday evening volleyball about 45 mins game.
Beginning to walk more with ds2 as we plan on doing a 12 km run next year. We did a 12km walk last Sunday and will do one 12km over the weekends now till we've done our run.

Kursk · 15/06/2017 13:59

Walk dogs 2 miles every day
Cut and split firewood.

Other than that we are just active people always doing something, we don't sit down in the evening until 8:00

SapphireStrange · 15/06/2017 14:00

I'm not THAT fit, but am noticeably more toned and strong, and can walk/climb hills etc better, than without/pre-exercise.

Yoga most weekdays for about an hour.
Zumba twice a week for an hour.
BalletFit twice a week for an hour.

The secret for me was finding exercise I liked, and finding sessions that fit into my life.

Ooogetyooo · 15/06/2017 14:03

Tues metafit and body combat
Wed bodypump
Thurs spin hit and weights
Sat hit and abs class
Walk dog for an hour and a bit every day

ArgyMargy · 15/06/2017 14:06

2 or 3 10k runs per week. Other days just normal activities, clocking up around 5-7k steps daily. Plus weekend extreme housework &/or gardening 😬

skyzumarubble · 15/06/2017 14:10

Powerwave Thursday Saturday and Sunday.

HIIT class on Friday.

2 x 5k jogs a week.

Walk dog every day but he's not exactly speedy and school run is a mile each way.

Still overweight though!

Sirzy · 15/06/2017 14:14

I walk 12000 steps at least every day. Run 3 times a week (around 10k most times) and gym once or twice.

FauxFox · 15/06/2017 15:16

My 'official' exercise is 3 x 12-15k runs per week. Also walk the school run and go for family walks at the beach quite often too.

Mominatrix · 15/06/2017 17:28

I walk the dog every day whilst doing the school run/errands. That usually equates to 4-5 miles a day of walking. The only day which I don't is Sunday when DH takes over the walk.

On top of this, I run 4-5 days a week and usually clock up 30-35 miles a week. Core work twice a week, and general weights once a week.

BrexitSucks · 15/06/2017 18:37

I don't know if I'm "fit". Other people say I am, so maybe.

Cycling (mostly commuting): 50+ miles/wk
Running: about 14 miles/wk
Walking outdoors: About 4 hours/wk
Swimming: about 10 miles a month

Some gardening & that type of schiz, too.

What is a HIIT class, anyway? How do you know, no class seems to be called "HIIT".

Badgoushk · 15/06/2017 21:26

Thanks everyone! That's really useful for me to see what's normal amongst a group of fit people.

Also, really interesting to see that so many of you have dogs.

Monday - body pump
Tuesday - rest
Wednesday - Body Pump
Thursday - rest
Friday -yoga
Saturday - body Pump
Sunday - yoga & short run, maybe 3k

Plus I walk average 14000 steps every day and live on the third floor Smile

disastrouslee · 16/06/2017 06:44

Daily dog walk up hill and down dale.
At least 4 sessions of Group Fight (exercise to music class concentrating on boxing and MMA moves) - going for my qualification so more than usual.
Another 2-3 sessions of either tabata, weights, HIIT or pump.
Soon to add in spinning when our brand new studio opens next week.

LittleWitch · 16/06/2017 06:45

Brexit HIIT is High Intensity Interval Training. They are short classes of up to 20 mins, using bodyweight at maximum effort for many short bursts. It's intense and demanding but very effective. You may see it branded as MetaFit or similar. Google MetaFit and you'll probably be able to watch a class on YouTube.

Pollyanna · 16/06/2017 15:52

I cycle to work every day (10km each way) , try to do a long ride at weekends. Sometimes I get a long ride in during the week as well.

Run most days usually (this week a bit crap) - aim for around 30km a week, sometimes do more if I do more than one 10km run.

I don't find that walking does much for me really - I really need to run to see results in terms of fitness/toning/weight loss or maintenance.

BrexitSucks · 16/06/2017 20:00

So, to be HIIT class, it has to be called HIIT? Or can some things be HIIT but not be called HIIT.

LittleWitch · 16/06/2017 20:02

Some things will be HIIT without being called it.

revolution909 · 16/06/2017 20:06

I do strength training for 45 mins 4 times a week. 90 mins of weekly yoga and run an average of 50k throughout the week. I have one full rest day (Saturday)

BrexitSucks · 16/06/2017 20:06

How do you know they are HIIT if not called HIIT Confused

I imagine a good old-fashioned "Aerobics" class is HIIT, so is Zumba & spinning, but Aquafit or Yoga will not deserve to be called HIIT.

Bodypump? Body Combat? Circuits, Bootcamp, Kettlebells class...

LittleWitch · 16/06/2017 20:08

The class will be short - the workout is between about 17 and 23 mins. That's what will tell you it's HIIT. MetaFit is the most common "branded" one. "Insanity" has HIIT elements to it.

Thinkingabouthowlifechanges · 16/06/2017 20:11

I average 15 000 - 20 000 steps per day

My exercise varies for example I sometimes travel for work so exercise suffers. I also have a health problem which sometimes means I do less exercise.

But just to give an idea over the last week I've done:

  • Saturday 40 miles steady cycling
  • Sunday 60 miles more intense cycling
  • Monday 4 mile cycle (part of commute)
  • Tuesday 20 mile cycle
  • Weds 15 miles cycle
  • Thurs 25 miles cycle
  • today nothing, day off exercise

Tomorrow I'm planning a 5k run

LaGattaNera · 16/06/2017 20:21

Mon yoga & body pump
Tues rest day
Wed run 5 miles & body step
Thur run 5 miles
Fri run 5 miles & body step
Sat run 5 miles, body step class & body pump class
Sun body pump class

that is a typical week

BMI 22 however, I do watch what I eat too - 80% is diet, 20% exercise. Lost 6 stone a few years ago and don't want to put it back on.

LaGattaNera · 16/06/2017 20:22

Sorry I mean lost 3 stone 6 years ago!
