I did the first run today, it was quite tough Blushjust looking for some reassurance and encouragement really. I have a tendency of not sticking to things/making excuses and would love to see myself get fitter over time.. motivation/tips/stories needed!

Thanks x

Just finished Week 4! The last run I did I felt like I set off too fast and it was quite hard going. Today I went much slower and steady and it was so much easier, and I'm trying to focus on this rather than the fact that my per km speed has dropped.

Well done Zohz. I have just finished week 4 as well - it feels great! I am almost feeling quite excited about the different runs next week.

It is tempting to think the pace always has to be increasing but with the time increasing so rapidly on the program it is bound to go up and down a bit. The main thing is to keep running for a bit longer each week.

SkiBike007 · 13/05/2017 11:41

I found I had to slow abit to run further and then once I was happy at the distance my body naturally speeded up abit. Once you get to the 5k mark the NHS have couple more apps for stamina and speed which I've found really good.
I still remember Micheal Johnson telling me "I was a runner" on the NHS C25k app when I did the 20mins nonstop it was such a buzz Grin. ...(I tried not too think about my jiggly bits& red puffing face Smile )now I run 5k+ normally twice a week, your all doing great!

Zohz123 · 13/05/2017 14:41

SmileSmileSmile lol I also have Micheal Johnson leading the way for me on the app. Hopefully next Saturday he'll tell me I'm a runner!!

I liked his nonsense encouragement Grin I tried a couple of the other voices and they were just too wafflely!

SkiBike007 · 13/05/2017 14:55

NO nonsense!

BowiesBlueEye · 14/05/2017 10:14

Well the repeat of w5d2 went very well! I felt like I could have carried on running after the second 8 minutes. Starting to really get my breathing under control and I did a 14 pace which is the fastest so far.

Couldn't do the 20 min run at parkrun as I helped a friend who was a first timer get round.

Thirtyrock39 · 14/05/2017 10:16

Wk 4 day 1 done today. Hardest bit was first 3 min run which is silly really as I've done thAt distance a few times now . Calves still feel like dead weights think it's a trip to the posh trainer shop at payday as am currently wearing crap trainers bought in 2011!!! Dh has decided he's going to go for run later which will be slightly annoying as he will no doubt sprint round the whole village without stopping and put my 4 minute sense of achievement to shame !!

Thirtyrock39 · 14/05/2017 10:16

My posh app doesn't do the pace what app tells you your pace?

BowiesBlueEye · 14/05/2017 10:27

Thirty it's my Fitbit that tells me my pace.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 14/05/2017 10:31

I use MapMyRun. Every time I finish a k it gives me my overall time, time for that k & current pace.

Yesterday I did my final practice 10K before the big run at the end of the month. I'm going to do Parkrun next Saturday, gym workouts every morning & keep my fingers crossed.

But not my toes because that would be asking for trouble when running.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 14/05/2017 10:31

I get my pace from my i-watch but have just downloaded map my run which is free and I think will do the same.

Zohz123 · 14/05/2017 11:10

I use Strava!

Well, I can say it now - I am a c25k graduate!! I did my first 5k parkrun yesterday and finished in 37.25. All running, no walking, no stopping. So c25k worked for me, still can't believe it!

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 14/05/2017 12:59

Congratulations ThePerfect!!!!

Doesn't it feel great?

Zohz123 · 14/05/2017 13:13

Wow! Well done- I aim to finish by the time the school summer holidays start! Currently Week 5 now but I'll have to take a months break after Week 6

Fantastic perfect!!!

ThePerfect1IThinkNot · 14/05/2017 17:05

Thanks for your lovely comments, feeling really chuffed - under 9 weeks ago I could not run for 30 seconds...!

Thirtyrock39 · 14/05/2017 17:38

Well done perfect I'm in awe

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 14/05/2017 19:35

Wow, well done Perfect - that is a brilliant acheivement! inspiration for those of use still working through the weeks.

user1492286030 · 14/05/2017 21:42

Anyone know when or where the next couch to 5K training sessions will start?
Thanks
Alison

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 15/05/2017 05:54

Hi Alison

You could google running clubs / Parkrun in your local area if you're thinking of real life groups, or download a C25K app & join any of the MN threads.

LooksBetterWithAFilter · 15/05/2017 08:19

Wow Perfect well done. That's me heading towards the home stretch now. This Wednesday I'll start week 6 so that's al the walking tests gone and just pure running. Still feeling like it's a big jump from 20 to 25 minutes but I felt that about every jump so I'm trying to stay positive.

Can't yet imagine doing a run and not feel like I'm about to pass out but logically I know it will come with time. Feeling both nervous and excited about the next few weeks.

Zohz123 · 15/05/2017 08:46

Started W5 today, so far so good! Will have to take a break after Week 6 and I am so gutted about it! I really hope my progress doesn't go down the pan SadSad

I've officially graduated! On the 5-10K plan now, but I've just got to work and realised I've brought my running kit for later and I've forgotten my trainers.Confused
