I did the first run today, it was quite tough Blushjust looking for some reassurance and encouragement really. I have a tendency of not sticking to things/making excuses and would love to see myself get fitter over time.. motivation/tips/stories needed!

Thanks x

Well done boris! That's fab.

I just carried on doing 2 or 3 x 5ks a week and improved my technique and speed. The NHS 5k+ podcasts for speed and stamina helped me. I also tried different routes and added in some hills before I started to build distance.
It's nearly a year since I started C25k and I've just been looking at half marathons for spring 2018 Grin I need a challenge to keep me running through the winter. I've not run further than 12k yet so doubling my distance will be a massive challenge.

thank you!!

Tri yes that makes sense. While I can run for 30 minutes, there is much improvement to be made on technique and speed.

I've found those podcasts you mentioned and downloaded them for next week - thank you.

Good luck with the half marathon training.

BTW are there small triathlons about (is that what your NN refers to?)? I can already cycle and swim - a mini triathlon might be nice.

TriGirl007 · 01/09/2017 14:39

Yes I'm doing a Go-Tri (16L/400m swim, 7.5k bike and 2.5k run), which is shorter distances than a Sprint-Tri. My DD is doing the kids one too at the end of Sept. I'm rather nervous about the swimming bit but it is a pool swim, I just don't like it when it's really busy and choppy..!

BorisTrumpsHair · 01/09/2017 16:01

ooh I think I could do that. I will have a google, thanks.

Mind you my bike these days is a one speed pedal brake old German one and probably not what you use for an event. :)

Fikee · 01/09/2017 21:25

Congratulations Boris! I'm trying to work on speed too, doing parkrun tomorrow and hoping running in a group will help speed me up a bit.

Pennina · 12/09/2017 11:09

Rats, I'm out for now. A very busy school holiday then work deluge really got me out of routine and now ... appendicitis! Emergency op over weekend. Can't see me running for a bit! Plus they said I've an ovarian cyst that needs to come out asap once I'm recovered. Doh.

Good luck all, especially well done to Boris

BorisTrumpsHair · 12/09/2017 11:43

Ah Pennia I hope you recover well and yes you need to rest up now. What a shock that must have been.

I've been in breast cancer clinic all morning as I got a call back after recent scan. It was a stressful time but happily I'm all clear. Small cyst. No treatment required.

I then went for celebratory run down the Thames Smile. I listened to the graduation podcasts and had to run at nearly twice my normal speed - omg! But I did it (mostly). It was toughest run yet and i feel fantastic for it. I shall sleep very well tonight for first time in ages.
