Do you get hot/sweaty when you exercise?

I do a mixture of classes (Insanity, yoga, pilates, step) and cardio & resistance machines. I've noticed that except for Insanity participants I seem to be the sweatiest person in the gym I wear 3/4 leggings and a racer-back vest top to allow the sweat to evaporate but am constantly baffled by people wearing full tracksuits/hoodies.
Am an overly sweaty person or just pushing myself too hard? Even during yoga and pilates I work up a fair sweat, surely that's normal? I'm not including the weight-lifting guys in this category btw or the slackers that fanny around on the treadmill updating their FB status
Blinkyblink · 11/02/2017 13:46
I work very hard but I rarely sweat
Blinkyblink · 11/02/2017 13:47
Hot yoga this morning
I didn't sweat
Blinkyblink · 11/02/2017 13:48
Are you overweight?
I find at gym the the slim people don't really. A bit sweaty and flushes but certainly not dripping
eurochick · 11/02/2017 13:48
I'm a sweaty bird. My mum hardly ever sweats. It's very strange how much people differ.
eurochick · 11/02/2017 13:49
Im slim, btw, and used to be pretty fit.
Fackorf · 11/02/2017 13:52
If you exercise intensively, you'll sweat.
Ime blokes seem to sweat more. Overweight people also, but they are exercising harder, so...
If you wear long sleeves / trousers in a wicking fabric (that picks the sweat up of your skin) you might feel it less.
I've never seen anyone exercising in a hoodie who was actually putting any effort in
NovaArt3mis · 11/02/2017 13:52
By the end of a decent workout I look a lot like Lee Evans mid-show and I'm not overweight. Everyone is different :)
bigtapdancingpimp · 11/02/2017 13:54
Do you get hot though? My old work out buddy used to get hot but never sweated. She would go bright red in the face but I never saw her perspire; I always wondered if she was like a dog and would sweat through her tongue and paws
tomatoplantproject · 11/02/2017 13:56
I get very hot and sweaty just thinking of exercising. When I was ultra fit and slim (training 6 times a week) I still got hot and sweaty.
caterpuller · 11/02/2017 13:56
I'm slim and sweat a lot. Go bright red too. And I did the same when I was a few stones heavier. I guess some of us just sweat. Or maybe no one else is pushing themselves as hard
BroomstickOfLove · 11/02/2017 13:56
I sweat, but I do Crossfit, and everyone sweats at that.
megletthesecond · 11/02/2017 13:57
Very rarely.
I get out of breath and exhaust my muscles but don't get that warm. I'm cold blooded.
Titsywoo · 11/02/2017 13:57
I'm obese and even when I really go for it I only sweat a bit on my back. Never anywhere else and never go red.
bigtapdancingpimp · 11/02/2017 13:58
No I'm not overweight and very fit! Must be an internal thermostat thing and not related to weight at all.
HelenaJustina · 11/02/2017 13:59
Yes, in Zumba and whilst running. Raised heart rate in other dance class and yoga but not sweat.
GlowWine · 11/02/2017 14:00
I get hot and sweaty whether I'm slim or 2stone larger (like now), whether its running or yoga (ok less sweaty, but still...)
loveka · 11/02/2017 14:00
I sweat a lot.
I used to sweat when I was size 8, and sweat the same amount now I am size 14.
JoeyJoeJoeJuniorShabadu · 11/02/2017 14:00
Some people just sweat more than others, regardless of their weight.
If its a real problem, you should see your doctor and ask about hyperhydrosis.
Wheatleyan · 11/02/2017 14:05
My trainers have been known to start overflowing once they've filled up with the perspiration running down my calves in spin classes. I have also slipped over in the self produced sweat pool under my Concept 2 when dismounting. I am a bit chunky but pretty damn fit most of the time.
The added bonus is that most of the time my kit can make its own way to the laundry basket.
Kiwi32 · 11/02/2017 14:07
I seem to remember from exercise physiology classes that the fitter you are the sooner you start sweating. As sweating is part of your body's system for staying cool if you train it regularly it will activate more quickly... so I'd stop worrying and just feel smug about how your body is clearly better trained than anyone else's
Legrandboucle · 11/02/2017 14:10
I'm very fit and also sweat a lot. The only time I will wear leggings or tracksuit bottoms is if I'm running outside when it's close to freezing point. I couldn't imagine wearing that inside. I wouldn't worry about it.
SheSparkles · 11/02/2017 14:11
If you were beside me in the gym, I'd match your sweatiness! I have a similar exercise schedule to you -apart from insanity!- and I sweat like a sweaty thing from warm up onwards.
I look on it as well earned!
bigtapdancingpimp · 11/02/2017 14:13
That's reassuring then, I'm not a freak! I'm always mopping my face during yoga/pilates and gulping water.
I've never seen anyone exercising in a hoodie who was actually putting any effort in
Whole different thread that

haha! so true. Loads of the guys in the gym I go to do this. Why?????
MrsGotobed · 11/02/2017 14:21
I'm a sweaty Betty too.
At the gym I'm always amazed when I see women in full make-up doing a work out. By the time I'm finished I'm red, blotchy and sweaty so if I'd started with make-up on I'd look like a blurry colourful damp mess.
Even when I'm just walking fast and I'm wearing a thick coat I can feel sweat down my back though.
