My HM a week away now, neef to catch up on the thread Smile

madgingermunchkin · 05/11/2016 20:33

Good luck to anyone running this weekend. I have to admit to having done naff all training this week, and too much drinking.

I've been bitten by the bug though and am keen to do more. But would like to stick the the trail/X country type ones, instead of normal road ones. Any suggestions?

emummy · 05/11/2016 21:39

mad if you look on the Scottish running guide or on Scottish athletics website you will find a list of races on different surfaces, including cross country. And on Facebook there is a group called running friends Scotland who often mention smaller local races that they are doing.
In April if you fancy another trip to Aberdeenshire there is RunBalmoral, which has a lovely 15 mile race on the Sunday. It's a beautiful route through the foothills of Lochnagar, one of the best races I have ever done, and less ascent than the Illuminator!
Good luck Irian.
Hope your final week's preparation goes well standing

IrianOfW · 06/11/2016 17:21

2.16. Really enjoyed it but the last mile was sooo hard. Windy and cold but so sunny that even Weston S Mare looked lovely Grin

emummy · 06/11/2016 18:56

Irian that's brilliant, well done!

IrianOfW · 06/11/2016 19:54

Thankyou x

londonmummy1966 · 06/11/2016 21:07

Well done Irian

Essay crisis today so didn't get out - need to try tomorrow although I have a seminar on Weds and haven't even looked at the reading list yet....

Well done Irian

Snap londonmummy! I need 500 more words before midday on Wednesday...

londonmummy1966 · 08/11/2016 07:10

I need to lose about 500 words fifty - perhaps we should swap............... about to head off for 5k with my neighbour - thought I'd then go on and finish off with 5 miles to get my long run in

Sorry I have been wifi less!! Well done Irian Star I would love a time like that. My next target is sub 2:20 if possible.

I entered the original hampton court londonmummy - i didn't look too closely - has the official a prettier route and possibly less chance of frost?!! To be honest I was more troubled with getting something in my diary...

londonmummy1966 · 10/11/2016 11:01

Pity we're not doing the same one still I don't think there is much difference in the route other than that the official one starts and finishes in the Palace grounds and the original one at a local school.....

That's great Irian especially if it was windy.

How come there's an original and an official run? Sounds like there's a story there!

I like the idea of the word swaps Grin

I'm still struggling with motivation - it's the long run really. Otherwise I'm doing a fair but but just can't seem to make the push to get out on a Sunday.

standingonlego · 12/11/2016 18:30

Delighted to be reporting back with a new HM PB Smile. Knocked over a minute off my time for same course last year, and conditions were trickier today.

Now ready for an early night!

londonmummy1966 · 12/11/2016 19:17

Well done lego is that everyone's HM's done for the year or are there more to come?

madgingermunchkin · 12/11/2016 19:35

Well done guys.

I've done absolutely no running since my HM, but have agreed to do another night trail run next Saturday. Only 10k this time! Grin

FiftyNineOhEight · 12/11/2016 22:26

Well done lego you Star

I am HM'ing again on 3 December. Not sure I will be running further than parkrun between now and then, but relying on residual fitness. All my best HMs have been run on lots of rest Grin

FiftyNineOhEight · 12/11/2016 22:27

Actually it's 4 December, so I have a whole day more to train Grin

Theonlyoneiknow · 12/11/2016 22:31

Hi guys, would love to join you. I've dropped off mumsnet for a bit then reappeared for the Xmas bargains thread Smile I did my last half marathon for the year today so need to find one to have something in the calender and keep motivation going! Here's where it was, a perfect day!

Theonlyoneiknow · 12/11/2016 22:32

well done on your new PB lego !

stilllearnin · 13/11/2016 07:50

Wow the only one that beats my scenery - beautiful.

Well done lego

emummy · 13/11/2016 07:51

That looks beautiful Theonly, you were lucky with the weather!

chutneypig · 13/11/2016 09:23

Really well done lego, fantastic achievement!

Does relying on residual fitness work Fifty? At this rate I'll only have done a couple of 10k races before my half in December. I should go out today but don't feel I've got the energy let alone the time. I'm aiming to enjoy the December run and avoid the sweeper bus but have no expectations apart from that!

Beautiful Theonly was it all on road? I love countryside running but struggle with trail.

Theonlyoneiknow · 13/11/2016 09:30

Yes it was on road, a circulation loop around a place called Glen Clova (NE Scotland). I can see why it sells out in a couple of hours!

I need to find a half for Feb/March time in Scotland, any suggestions? Thanks Flowers

emummy · 13/11/2016 09:54

I'm hopefully doing the Inverness half on March 12th, there's also Alloa I think. If you search Half marathons on Google, there's a website called something like half marathon list which gives you Scottish ones by month.
