Hi

Has anyone recently started or just about to start? Would be great to have somewhere to check in and cheer each other on.

I've started very slowly and am about to embark on week 3. I'm spending 2 weeks on each week if that makes sense!

Look forward to anyone else joining in.

It just seems to happen sometimes! Are you going to join us on the 10K thread when the time comes?

I did just over 7K last Sunday & was over the moon, but then had to stop running on Tuesday because of knee pain. So I've been resting it & tomorrow I'm going to do a short run on grass & see how it goes.

I really wanted to do 8K this weekend & hit 10 before Christmas but I've got plenty of time and I'd be even more pissed off if I did proper damage.

Hi there
Please can I join ... I've been following this thread for a while now and it's so inspiring. I began the program back in May but 2 holidays and all inclusive soon put a stop to that until a few weeks ago . Tonight I completed 20 mins non stop and felt fine Grin... can't believe I could run this time. I feel like I can wear my c25k badge with pride ...

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 24/11/2016 20:22

Welcome to the thread, Middlesex. If you can run 20 mins you're well on the way!

Biking007 · 25/11/2016 16:24

Well done middlesex I liked when running with the C25k app Michael Johnson said after the 20minrun "you can call yourself a runner now" I had big beaming smile, after barely making it through the wk before.
Well tonight I'm sitting on the couch thinking I should go out but I'm nursing a cold and feeling washed out after work - just watched DH go out for a 10k - supposed to be my turn when he gets back...once I've fed the kids. I can't go tom as I'm out all day so it's now or Sun.... maybe cuppaT will help Grin me decide.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 25/11/2016 17:29

Go out & see how far you get?

I did my short run this morning & it reassured me that I should be OK to do a full one on Sunday.

Middlesexmummy · 25/11/2016 19:56

Thank you all for your kind comments, I too am not going out today or tmrw but will aim for Sunday after bath time and dh is putting dd to bed ... I'm petrified that I'll lose the small amount of fitness I ve built up !😭

Archduke · 26/11/2016 00:08

Middlesexmummy a 20 min run sounds pretty good to me.

I've just done my W2R3, and my first ParkRun!

ParkRun was ace, we ran round some wetlands and I came 97th - 38 mins. Which I'm pretty chuffed with, my daughter (aged 11) did it in 28 mins so I now have a goal to smash her time.

CrotchetQuaverMinim · 26/11/2016 08:08

wow, doesn't sound like you need the Couch to 5K at that rate!!
Impressed.

I've been out twice now since my 2.5 week rest, and I'm starting to feel it getting painful again, even though I left it four days apart. Depressing.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 26/11/2016 09:46

Wow Archduke!

That's a huge leap from W2 to running 5K in 38 mins! Sounds like you're ready to join us on the Bridge to 10K thread?

ScarlettDarling · 26/11/2016 20:39

Archduke I'm so impressed at your 5k in 38 mins! Why are you even bothering with couch 2 5k...you're already doing 5k!!

Empress think it'll be a loooooong time before I'm ready to join the 10k thread. Did my 28 min run today but only managed 4.2 km...can't imagine doing an extra 2 mins next week will get me doing the extra 0.8 km I need to be doing. Think I need to work on my speed!

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 26/11/2016 22:15

You did 28 mins though, that's a bloody massive achievement! Congrats!

In the last week or two of C25K I knew I was nowhere near doing 5K in 30 minutes, so I started alternating distance & time if that makes sense? 2.75 miles and then next time 28 mins.

Archduke · 27/11/2016 03:21

Oooh thank you. I didn't manage to run 5k - ScarlettDarling, fast walking and slow jog I think I'd die if I had to run 5k so not yet ready for the 10k Empress!

ScarlettDarling running for 28 minutes is fantastic, I am such a long way from that.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 27/11/2016 07:52

Grin Still, good on you! And just give it a few months....

Biking007 · 27/11/2016 18:40

I'm feeling sorry for myself on the couch stuffed full of cold, cough and throat virus with no voice Sad so no running for me. But I did see this blog.runkeeper.com/4395/10-stages-of-going-from-couch-to-5k/ made me smile except they missed week 8/9 get an injury Grin
Well done to those running im SO hoping this flipping bug clears soon and I can get back to week9!

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 27/11/2016 19:03

Oh Biking WineBrewCakeFlowers

Yes, that blog looks about right! And I still spend the first few minutes of every run wondering if I'm going to get to the end...

justfor · 29/11/2016 14:15

Thanks for the welcome.

On Sunday I did W4R1, and then although I usually avoid running on consecutive days I did W4R2 yesterday, because it was a beautiful day and I didn't need to be in work till later. What a great feeling, running through the fields in the winter sunshine. I'm just going to make do for the meanwhile, but in the longer term I need to sort out some bits of gear - I need an armband for my phone, for example. And a top I can run outside in the cold in - all mine are too light or too heavy.

Archduke · 02/12/2016 00:58

W3R3 done Halo.

justfor running through fields in the winter sunshine sounds lovely. Well done on getting out there.

I'm doing Parkrun again tomorrow, this time with both kids - my youngest has some balance issues which sometimes cause a problem with her movement so will see how she manages it.

Biking that blog made me laugh. I'm very lucky as the weather is pretty good here so not such a struggle to get out as you lot.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 02/12/2016 07:33

Have you tried layering? So far in the cold I've been running in a hoodie with a T-shirt underneath, seems to work ok and I usually end up with it unIpped.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 02/12/2016 07:33

Unzipped even...

Have a good time at Parkrun, Archduke!

Hope it's ok to join in. I have been doing the C25k and really enjoying it. However I am doing week 4 for the second week in a row and I am still battling- I just can't run right through the second 3 minute run, I walk part of it and then do the last 5 minute run ok.
I am in the southern hemisphere and it has summer has suddenly arrived so it is a bit warmer than it has been but I am running in the mornings so it should be manageable
I am getting discouraged now- kids break up for their long holidays next week so it's going to be harder to squeeze in running time and I can just feel the temptation to jack it in.
Should I repeat week 4 again or try to move up to week 5 and give it a bash?
