Gedling was that they were going to open up an old mine tunnel - the park is on an old colliery site - then alter the course to go through the tunnel. Disappointing. The mock up picture was great Grin

Enjoy the photography feet

Not sure if I'll be going today. DS is much better but still has a cough. Would probably have been OK to trot round with me but not if it's actually raining. Which it definitely is. DH took the hit last week.

That's a good reason to miss parkrun FiftyNine have a great time.. I was thinking of volunteering next week as well for the same reason but have family up for the weekend and off out early Saturday, Already have them HM babysitting and hopefully taking the DC to the juniors - they must think we've lost the plot.

FizzyPinkWine · 02/04/2016 08:24

Back again for my second parkrun. Last week was very slow, so hoping for a bit quicker this week.
Good luck to all.

lastqueenofscotland · 02/04/2016 10:06

Ours was super busy this week! Tonnes of tourists. I was very slow - 25.30 ish. Was hoping for something in the 23s, but pbs and three weeks to the London marathon don't seem to bedfellows sadly

Runninggirl63 · 02/04/2016 12:25

Survived my first Run Director experience -due to the rain and the Warwick half tomorrow we didn't quite get to 500 ( so quiet) and there were no issues. Our ED is finishing the results processing but I did help upload them .

I'm still trying to warm up.

Hope everyone had a good run.

feetheart · 02/04/2016 12:46

Well done RunningGirl :)
We had lovely sunshine (sorry!), so much so that I didn't put on one of my usual thermal layers and actually removed my gloves and coat at one point!!
We also had our course record annihilated which was awesome to watch. He took over 90 seconds off the previous one which was only set a few weeks ago Shock

megletthesecond · 02/04/2016 12:59

Lovely run this morning. It was the first time 9yo DS and his friend ran it without stopping or getting a stitch. I paced them just right. In 18 months they'll be running on their own and leaving me for dust.

feet I missed all the parkrun April fools. Will have to hunt some down.

swampytiggaa · 02/04/2016 13:29

This morning I did my very first parkrun at my towns very first parkrun :)

It was my first run in ages - first 5k and first run outside (generally use a treadmill at home)

I really enjoyed it - ran the whole time - did it in 35.38 and was number 114 of 132 runners.

Bideford north Devon if anyone is close ;)

GeoffreysGoat · 02/04/2016 13:32

How'd you do fizzy? We skived off in favour of a local farm that opens once a year to show off the baby lambs. Last year they were quite bug, early Easter meant that most were 1-2 days old we also have naice cake and free range eggs from the pop up shop :o

Ds1 has been saying all week that he's going to run a 49. I'm having a hard job convincing him that's slower than 39, at his age bigger is better and he only has a shady grasp of numbers that high as it is!

GeoffreysGoat · 02/04/2016 13:33

Cross post, well done tiggaa!

cinnamongreyhound · 02/04/2016 14:39

Well done runninggirl63, our new RD did his first one today, I shadowed and did finish tokens with ds's, he did a grand job. We don't get near 500 though, managed over 100 for 3 weeks in a row now!

How excitI got Swampytiggaa!

Have fun FiftyNineOhEight!

swampy welcome to the world of parkrunning Smile I had a very pleasant run today despite the unwelcome rain. I've written my very first run report which is now on Facebook, I managed to mention the newcomers, the tourists, the volunteers and the PB's as well as putting a personal spin on it Grin

Well done to everyone who ran today.

MelanieCheeks · 02/04/2016 17:46

Welcome along swampy, and well done those who were report writing and photographing and RDing.

I was timekeeping today. Once all the runners have set off, we volunteers have an imaginary bet on how many runners we have, and I always go long, as it were. Today I guessed 133, and people pfffed and said we hadn't had near those numbers inn AGES! But I was closest, as we our final walkers made it across the line in position 129. We have one beautiful inspirational mother who runs with her SN daughter. Today she was trying a new tactic, and ran the whole course backwards, encouraging and persuading her daughter each step of the way. Star

FizzyPinkWine · 03/04/2016 07:09

Well done everyone!
I took 4 minutes off my time last week! Still slower than I'd like, but getting better.

MelanieCheeks · 03/04/2016 11:27

Anyone done any Dublin parkruns? I'll be there for a dancey thing at the end of May.

chutneypig · 03/04/2016 20:10

Four minutes is fantastic Fizzy well done!

Welcome to our world swampy we're only slightly obsessive!

That's very cute Geoffrey, he must be enjoying it all.

That's wonderful Melanie, those sort of stories make parkrun for me.

Sounds like a through job on the run report MyBlackCat

I'd like to have seen ninety seconds off feet, must have been great to watch.

you must be faster than me Meglet, I get left for dust now! DD ran with DH yesterday and shaved a minute off her PB. I throughly enjoyed a chat with a fellow non running parkrunner, so it was worth pitching up to clap in the rain. Even though DD now has grand plans to push me.

I was a very proud parkrun mum this morning. DS hasn't been well so hasn't run for a couple of weeks. He offered to pace his sister at the juniors. She was so pleased she hugged him. Did the job, PB and highest ever placing for DD and no unseemly jostling in the funnel. Harmony didn't last long after we got home but still.

I guess you've got a different focus at the moment lastqueen, how are you feeling ahead of the big event?

Well done runninggirl hope you've warmed up now.

Does a new RD mean you get more chance to run cinnamon?

GeoffreysGoat · 03/04/2016 21:12

He is chutney you should pop over and join us, we have several good local cafes for breakfast and hot chocolate afterwards 😜

swampytiggaa · 03/04/2016 21:28

Feeling a bit ouchy in my upper thighs today... Planning on a bit of a run/walk in the morning to hopefully get things moving again! Looking forward to next week already :)

chutneypig · 04/04/2016 06:09

Popping over sounds like a plan when we're next down your way Geoffrey usually a few times a year. I get very nostalgic about the forest and sea. Lots of forest up this way, but it's not the same and definitely no sea.

That sounds very sensible swampy, unless it's really painful a bit of movement seems to help.

cinnamongreyhound · 04/04/2016 07:47

Ah chutneypig, that's lovely of your ds and yay for hugs!! I don't know how many he's going to do but we lost an rd in December as she moved to the states to be with her man so it's just a replacement really. I usually do once every 5-6weeks at the moment so much better than many ed's.

Let me know and I'll drag ds2 up there to say hi - we normally stay warm in bed Wink

lastqueenofscotland · 04/04/2016 17:50

Well done all runners.

Has anyone doe Andover, I'm trying to squeeze a parkrun in when I don't really have time, wondering if it's worth a quick trip over?

swampytiggaa · 04/04/2016 19:05

Looks like I am not running on Saturday - marshalling instead. Will feel virtuous afterwards I am sure.

Blatherskite · 04/04/2016 21:28

Still struggling with my sprained ankle so no running for me yet Sad

Got a trip up north this weekend that would have been great for tourism too!

GeoffreysGoat · 04/04/2016 22:38

Bought teeny running trainers today, infant size 9! They're really cute and a fab shade of turquoise :o better than his bug cousin's hand me downs anyway, although I'm not sure braving sports direct with two smalls was worth it even though they were only a tenner lol

feetheart · 05/04/2016 12:22

Blathers - huge sympathy for sprained ankle. Did mine in November and got very frustrated with it taking ages to get better. Physio did explain the healing process really well though and also explained how trying to hurry things along would NOT help. That did help me be sensible but it was a struggle.

swampytiggaa - you will have every right to feel virtuous, parkrun doesn't happen without volunteers. If you haven't done it before it will give you a brilliantly different perspective of parkrun too.
