New month, new phase of Body Rev for me...marking my place and getting us set up with a June thread.

Level 2 day 10 complete. On to level 3 tomorrow, gulp!

stripytees · 19/06/2015 12:55

Hi, I'm new to this thread. I started 30DS last week but after 5 days my knee became painful so I'm having a break from Shred to let it recover. I'm gutted though, I had already noticed an improvement in my fitness level by the fifth day and was enjoying the workouts.

Has anyone had knee issues with the 30DS and managed to overcome them to continue Shredding? FWIW I'm 32, unfit but not overweight (have lost 16 pounds on 5:2 since March), and wear my running shoes to exercise in.

TheBeagleHasLanded · 19/06/2015 18:55

30DS Level 2 done in place of NMTZ. For the first time ever I managed to do the walkouts with a PROPER push-ups at the end like Anita Grin

MsRaspberryJam · 19/06/2015 19:16

I had quite a few problems with my knees at first, stripy. How old are your running shoes? I noticed a big difference when I got new shoes.

You could also look up a longer warm up routine to try beforehand, as the one Jillian does is a bit short.

MsRaspberryJam · 20/06/2015 12:04

I did level one of Shed and Shred this morning. I'm feeling miserable again, but pleased about this achievement!

SisterMoonshine · 20/06/2015 17:43

30DS L2 day 1 ...oh
That's wiped the smile off my face.

I don't know whether to replace some of the moves I can't do with level 1 moves or whether to persevere with it. I persevered with level one and was pleased with myself for doing them eventually. So should probably do that.

KatharineClifton · 20/06/2015 23:06

30DS L2D2

OublietteBravo · 21/06/2015 10:05

After a couple of unintentional rest days, I've finally managed to do 30DS L2D5.

I've swapped oblique twists for jumping jacks, and my knees are much happier Smile

I'm managing to do a mix of following Anita and Natalie. I try and do Natalie's move the first time, and switch to Anita for the repeat if I think I'm going to die.

ImogenQuy · 21/06/2015 11:00

I'm back - I've managed three of Jillian's yoga workouts while I've been away, which isn't quite as good as I hoped but isn't terrible.

On to Body Rev weeks 11 and 12 tomorrow - I'm just trying to pluck up the courage to go and preview workout 11 so I know what I'm in for in the morning! Totally zonked after a week working away: I'm just drifting round the house with no idea what I'm doing or what I ought to be doing at the moment.

Level 2, day 2
A bit better actually.
Which I'm pleased about as I started out reluctantly this morning.

I do a mix too Oubliette, some moves I can do Natalie, others Anita, and some one and then the other.

UnalignedAnt · 21/06/2015 12:41

L2D3. Bloody planks.

Haven't weighed for a while, but jeans seem looser. Feels good Smile

SaulGood · 21/06/2015 12:47

Afternoon all.

Not been around but have been working out every day. Am on day 21 of my current workout programme, have worked out every one of those 21 days. Six Week Six Pack every day plus something else (weights, run or another dvd). Today was 6W6P and a vvvvvvvv heavy weights workout. Focus was shoulders.

Am really pleased with my progress. Core is looking good, particularly my obliques. 8 weeks until I go on holiday. I will not sit hunched in the corner of the beach in a wet suit. I will wear my bikini.

Maybe.

30DS L2D3

Seem to have pulled a muscle in my groin :(

stripytees · 21/06/2015 20:30

30DS L1 D7 here - my knee has recovered from the pain earlier in the week, I'm hoping it was just an injury from twisting it the wrong way. Otherwise I'm noticing a difference from D1, I can now do all the Anita push ups when I only managed a couple in the beginning. Going to try full push ups tomorrow.

Trenzalor · 21/06/2015 20:34

I'm still plugging away at NMTZ and I really like it. I love the lack of cardio!

Has anyone else noticed this: as my muscle tone has improved its almost like my muscle and fat are parting ways - my flabby tummy kind of sits on top of my muscles and it's like it's wobblier? I haven't described it very well.

MadameJulienBaptiste · 21/06/2015 20:58

I am now on day 7 of 30ds. My fave workout so far is level 3 of beginner shred, made me sweat buckets and no high impact.
really starting to see a difference round my middle, my work dresses are looking and feeling much better.

The high impact cardi bits were really hard the first few goes and I could hardly do the push ups. Today I was jumping higher and managed all the push ups but only about 3 inch dips!
My middle age belly is shrinking. I am so impressed with the results and still have 23 days to go.

MadameJulienBaptiste · 21/06/2015 20:59

Does anyone else have rest days? I've been doing 5 or 6 days then a day off.

SaulGood · 21/06/2015 21:45

MadameJulienBaptiste, rest is absolutely imperative for recovery and fitness. It not only makes you a more effective exerciser but it means that you are more toned in the long run. It's the repair of the muscles which builds definition. Think of it as stretching and stressing the muscles during exercise and then the rest day fixing them up and filling in the gaps. More toned, shapely muscles because you've let them heal into their new, better shape. Then you challenge them again and repeat! It's also psychologically quite important sometimes. You might find you need that exercise free day or two to look forward to if working out has been particularly tough.

I think most people build in rest days, particularly when new to a programme or building up a base of fitness. I don't take rest days BUT I do rest muscle groups. I rotate the exercise I'm doing so that for example, if I'm pushing my shoulders for 3 days in a row, I have a couple of days concentrating on lower body only and it builds in rest but maintains a higher intensity pace. I've been working out quite hard for many years though so am quite well versed in balancing it out.

Can anybody recommend which DVD to get next? I fancy a new challenge. I've done Shred, 6W6P and RI30. I want something with cardio and toning. Good all rounder. Maybe something with a lot of legs stuff if it's more specific. What about Kickbox Fast Fix? I have almost made up my mind to get that but wondered if anybody else had loved any of the others?

MadameJulienBaptiste · 21/06/2015 21:53

Thanks, I know the benefits of resting the muscles, it's just that jillian the fitness guru calls it a 30 day program so I wondered if we're meant to do it for 30 days straight or is it me slacking Wink

Saymwa · 21/06/2015 21:54

Eek - joining thread so as to commit starting tomorrow .
L1 -D1
Will measure myself to see if I really do lose inches too.
See you tomorrow,
:)

MadameJulienBaptiste · 21/06/2015 21:57

I bought the yoga meltdown to do next.
not sure if it will be a challenge but it was there for a fiver on amazon when I was buying the others and I needed to spend enough to get free delivery. ....

MadameJulienBaptiste · 21/06/2015 21:59

What are nmtz and rl30?

ImogenQuy · 22/06/2015 07:03

Body Rev phase 3 week 11 workout 11. Ouch. Four different kinds of push-up (one of which I simply can't do). I previewed workout 12 too and that wants me to do a backwards push-up (otherwise known as a yoga wheel). Fat chance of that.

Madame, I have two rest days a week - basically I do Jillian Monday-Friday and award myself weekends off. I quite like Yoga Meltdown: it's not as challenging as some of her others but I found it improved my flexibility. It's the one I take with me when I'm working away from home as it doesn't need any kit.

NMTZ is No More Trouble Zones, and RI30 is Ripped in 30.

Saul, I haven't done it but various people on here highly recommend Killer Buns and Thighs for a mix of cardio and strength with a focus on the lower body. Personally I'm eyeing Bodyshred for when I finish Body Rev, but it seems to be impossible to get the DVDs in this country.

Woke up pain free which was a blessing as long shift today, pain came back a couple of hours before end of shift. I'm going to abandon Jillian now - quite liked Bob Harper's and really love Cindy Crawford ones I did in the past - much more warming up/down and hopefully less opportunity for injury. Thanks for the thread which has helped me get me back into exercise - it's great Grin

OublietteBravo · 22/06/2015 19:23

30DS L2D6. Hoping to stay motivated so that I can move on to level 3 at the end of the week tries to block out flashbacks to hideous rockstar jumps
