I did L1D1 yesterday. Wasn't too bad although I did the easier option for push ups, I may never be able to do them properly!

Tell me how it has worked & changed your life! I go on holiday on 26th June & need to be a bit more toned - will it work so quickly??

Hi Inkle, I reckon it definitely works any time I have stuck with it before. If you are finding that you are taking it all in your stride, you do need to get heavier weights or push it more on the cardio, it won't have the same effect at all if you are coasting through it. It is supposed to be high intensity, so as you come to the end of each move, you should feel as though you could barely manage a single one more. If you are in day 1, go take a photo of yourself stripped down to shorts and bra and you will definitely see a change by 26 June. You can lose a few pounds from it but the main effect is definitely improving body shape and making you look better, clothes looser, etc rather than numbers dwindling on the scales.

I did feel knackered at the end of each bit but it was how I expected if you know what I mean? Definitely need heavier weights although the push ups have actually killed me as I discovered a moment ago when I tried to take my cardigan off!
Good idea about the photo although the first one will be well hidden from anyone else!!

Day 2 done! Thanks for the tip about keeping heels down during jump rope - really felt the difference in my calves.

Anyone else worry they're going to get dread lurgy at any moment and have to drop out? Probably my lazy brain trying to sabotage efforts!

Other than that, feeling really positive about completing this time, even though long way to go. Keep up the good work, everybody!

Day 2 and i got up too late to do it. Will try again tonight but I know I'm. More motivated in the morning

Am also doing 30DS, thought I was pretty fit from seeing PT week, but OMG level 2!! I had to drop my weights down to 1.5kg (compared to my latest PT session where I used a combination of 4, 5, 8 kg free weights and 8kg kettle bell...). My only concern is that to try to complete the circuit, I need low weights, but then I don't ache the next day. I've started swapping weights dependent on which exercise I'm doing, as have now done 4 days on L2, so hopefully I'll be able to do them all with the higher weight by day 10. Terrified for what L3 will bring...

Shred it with Weights Level 1 done with a 6kg kettlebell instead of 4kg. I can barely type this, my arms are shaking soooo much. What on earth will they be like in the morning Shock

TorianaTollywobbles · 02/06/2015 19:20

Beagle I've just started shred it with weights, nice to see someone else doing it also. I have a 4kg kettle bell but have thought I could possibly need a heavier one for some of the moves but maybe I'll just stick to 4! Cant get the hang of those windmill moves where you have to lunge backwards lie down and get back up again. How long do you plan to stick with level 1 before you move up? Have to say I've enjoyed this more than normal shred.

I'm definitely feeling a little bit sore from yesterday. Still managed to motivate myself to do 30DS L1D2 though.

Off to take some photos now so I can see what a difference it makes Smile

I done level 1, day 1 earlier, how many days in do people usually start seeing results?

Level 1 day two done. Don't think it was any easier today. Can't believe some of you use 4 kg weighs!

Body Rev phase 3 week 9 cardio done. Urgh. And then urgh again for good measure. About the only thing to be said for it is that each exercise only lasts 20 seconds. But half an hour of non-stop cardio is definitely, definitely not my thing. It has all my least favourite things in it - squat thrusts, rock star jumps, jumping lunges, burpees, the lot.

Cookie, I started Shredding a year ago using tins of tomatoes for weights - I wouldn't have believed then that I'd ever do anything with heavier weights, but regular Jillian has made me a lot stronger and fitter. My size hasn't changed, but I'm definitely more toned all over (I didn't take a "before" photo though, so it's hard to compare). I'm also much fitter and feel better.

Who-hoo, onto level 2, day 1 complete. I had forgotten how uncoordinated level 2 makes me feel with the skater jumps I particular. It really felt tough today but I am hoping that a few days into it will see me much more able for it - if I am honest, my second set of plank jacks were pretty unimoressive due to feeling collapse was imminent! I'm looking forward to getting close to the end of level two and blithely feeling like I can follow Natalie all the way through.

drspouse · 03/06/2015 10:41

I did level 2 again yesterday after a very long break from it - I actually quite like it - the skater jumps get better, honest! I can do pretty much everything at Natalie level with maybe a little slacking on the squats, coming up a bit higher.

I'm only doing a Shred once a week (though if I can squeeze one in on Fri or Sat that will be good as I can't go swimming tomorrow). But I may get bored of the same three levels rotated soon. What else is pretty short?

Day 3 done! Press ups still torture, but probably down to bad technique as elbow joints feel achey and sore.

Think weights I use are 1.5kg - that'll more than do me for now Grin

Just done 30DS L1D3, and I can definitely say that I'm noticing some tightness in my thighs.

May have a rest day tomorrow - I'll see how I'm feeling.

30DS L2D3 completed (although am only doing it twice per week). Still having to go down to 1kg weights for the last set of strength and finding the cardio quite tough, especially the double jump ropes.

Workout schedule was 30mins cross-train/condition today, so added some extra arm work in at the end. I did consider having a go at NMTZ but that's as far as it got - I watched it fast forwarding through the various exercises and decided that it was too much of a step up for me both exercise and time-wise.

Tomorrow is 2 mile run with 30 mins conditioning/strength afterwards - may give JM 6 week abs L1 a try as it's another youtube freebie.

It took me about 60 days to get through 30DS back in Jan/Feb as I was only doing 3/4 days a week.
I started with 1.5kg weights and moved up to 3kg during Feb.
March/April I moved to the longer workouts NMTZ and BFBM alternating them 3/4 days a week. I use 5kg weights for sections 2 and 3 of NMTZ now, 3kg for all other sections. I sometimes use 3kg weights for all punch moves in BFBM if feeling particularly motivated, but mainly just stick to the cardio in that workout and leave the weights for NMTZ.
Amazing how quickly I got stronger and I love feeling fit and healthy. Smile
Need to make the effort to buy some heavier weights now to get to the next level! Dropping a dress size without dieting has also been a bonus!

Thanks Blodynmawr it's really good to hear success stories. I can't imagine even being able to pick up 5kg weights let alone exercise with them! Strangely, I can now do 5 proper press ups with relative ease and then gradually struggle up to 9/10 - but I can't manage some of the simple exercises with anything other than 1kg weights, and I even struggle with those.

Congratulations on dropping the dress size too!

Body Rev phase 3 week 9 workout 9 done. It's not getting noticeably easier (though at least the most evil move is right at the beginning of the workout).

drspouse, Ripped in 30 is very slightly longer than the Shred, but still comes in under 30 minutes. The other short-ish ones that I have and like are the two yoga ones, Killer Abs and Body Rev (Body Rev is flaming expensive though, and except for the cardio the workouts are just over 30 minutes rather than just under). If you like cardio I think Kick Box Fast Fix is short. And NMTZ is divided up on the DVD so if you're short of time you can just do three or four circuits rather than the whole thing.

Good morning Shredders! Still sweating from level 2 day 2. The joints felt noticeably creaky this morning and there is some new DOMS which just goes to show the value of changing levels. I am still finding level 2 very tough but hope to improve soon. For the second day in a row, the baby woke from his nap exactly at the moment the cool down finished, I hope he goes back to longer naps soon, not least so I can grab a glass of water!

Toriana I did have a go at level 2 and I was able to complete it, but I honestly just prefer the moves in level 1 (except the bastard rotating jump squats). I can see myself sticking with level 1 and just increasing the weight over time.

6W6P completed today and... (pauses for self indulgent trumpet fanfare)... I managed to do quite a few of Bashira-the-bad-asses moves.

When I started exercising and eating healthier in January this year I saw a quote somewhere on t'internet saying "summer bodies are made in the winter" and at last I really do think all this hard work is finally paying off.

Trying to summon up the energy for a shower. Did L1 6W6P after my 2.5 mile run and am so tired. Found some of the moves quite hard and had to rewind a couple as I couldn't make the moves out on my little netbook; some I just didn't have the space for as had to exercise in bedroom as DIL is expecting visitors. I think once I'm not so tired I'll find I enjoyed it. Today is a FD for me, and tomorrow is my rest day, so feeling the glow. Although that could also be sweat which is running into my eyes and making them sting.

Good work today Imogen Sycamore and Beagle.
