New month, new phase of Body Rev for me...marking my place and getting us set up with a June thread.

Decided against a rest day (DH has taken DD and DS swimming, so I have the house to myself).

Just completed 30DS L1D4. May need to up the weights a bit - not really feeling Irvin my arms (although certainly feeling it in my legs).

TorianaTollywobbles · 04/06/2015 20:49

Thanks beagle, think I'll be sticking with level 1 for now anyway but I know what you mean about those jump squats. Might have a look at level 2 to see what the moves are like.

Drspouse the shred with weights that myself and beagle are doing is also quite short at 25 mins and quite enjoyable even Smile

blodynmawr · 04/06/2015 21:10

granny hope your eyes are recovered now!
TheBeagle - like the quote about summer bodies being made in winter! I bought my first ever tankini in the winter sales and will be wearing it soon!
NMTZ today, BFBM tomorrow. Light mornings really helping my motivation too these days [ smile].

carrie74 · 04/06/2015 21:14

Couldn't Shred on Tuesday or Wednesday, so dragged my sorry arse upstairs and managed L2D5 before dinner tonight. Still v tough, but am managing to up me weights on some of the exercises. Can't imagine doing the whole thing through without having to stop something slightly early though! Planning L2D6 tomorrow, then off to a spa for the weekend, so will probably do some general weights instead.

Body Rev phase 3 week 9 workout 10 done. 3 more weeks of Body Rev to go... It wasn't working for me this morning: my balance was shot and the energy wasn't there. Trying to be kind to myself about it because I've been working crazy hours this week and I'm knackered. Horrendously busy weekend ahead too.

drspouse, Ripped is pretty much exactly the same format as Shred - 3 minutes strength, two cardio, one abs - but there are three strength moves in each circuit, not two, which actually makes it marginally easier as you don't have to do any of them for quite as long. Killer Abs is a pretty good all-over workout, in spite of the title.

Level 2 day 3 30DS complete. Oh boy. I did the last two plank moves on my elbows rather than hands as my wrists were getting sore and I found being able to hold plank more effectively I this position makes the moves tougher - I think some of my earlier efforts were closer to downward dog than plank at times!

Welldo eto allwho are managing to squeeze in their workouts. I find this thread a great motivator - that and knowing it is working too.
I may be taking this too seriously - I had a weird dream all about doong the Shred last night and woke exhausted! But in exciting news, I accidentally discovered that I now have quite impressive biceps, hard as rock under a bit of a layer of fat. I am thrilled!

UnalignedAnt · 05/06/2015 14:17

Level 1 Day 4 done. Unplanned rest day yesterday due to stealth period and tiring day in work.

Elbows not so sore today, and legs feel stronger (though may be imagining things!). Enjoying Level 1, but think it's the relative calm before the storm!

TheBeagleHasLanded · 05/06/2015 17:37

Some unexpected rest days now as I had my first ever IPL session to blast some veins and sun damage on my face and the advice sheets says "do not participate in rough sports or other strenuous activities for 5 days after treatment". Strenuous is Jillian's middle name isn't it!

Ah sycamore congratulations on your biceps. When nobody is looking I stroke my new arms Grin

KatharineClifton · 05/06/2015 18:09

I'm glad this popped back up in active as couldn't find it on search.

Day 2 of shred completed today but no weights - will start bringing them in on the last bits tomorrow and work up. I have pretty much no muscle tone in my arms and would like to continue using them for other things through the day Grin

I have a quick q though as I can't find the answer - it says do it 30 days in a row but I thought it was best to have rest day for muscles - so which do I do?

EthelCardew · 05/06/2015 19:48

Katharine I read that Jillian recommends rest days and I find I do better with rest days too although two in a row seems to derail me!

I started 30DS on 1 June and did M and T then rest day on Wed, hour of Zumba on Thurs and I'm back for D3 tonight.

On Day 2 I was so sore around my pecs/armpits that I couldn't even do knee press ups, it felt like my muscle was going to rip from the bone and I had to do a pathetic version of box ones, grunting and cussing as I did so. I hope that improves real soon!

KatharineClifton · 05/06/2015 20:16

Thank you Ethel. I have a NYC Ballet one that I haven't done forever so may do that on my rest days then, or just sit on my arse and watch it.

OublietteBravo · 05/06/2015 20:37

Rest day today - 4 days in a row is my limit. Aiming to continue with D5 tomorrow...

Roseybee10 · 05/06/2015 23:21

I'm back on the Jillian wagon after dress shopping for my cousins wedding and having major tummy wobbles in everything I tried on!

I'm a convert of the shred after it helped me blast off 4 stone after my first pregnancy. I'm four months post second baby and although I've lost the weight now, I'm so wobbly. I've been doing 30 day squat and crunch challenge for the past two
Months but feel ready to step it up now.

I hate doing the same workout every day so I'm mixing them all up. Sometimes I don't have time to do the full workout with the two kids so I'm aiming to do at least 12-15 mins a day, five days a week and see how I'm doing in 5 weeks time. I've taken before pics and taken my measurements so here's hoping this tummy starts getting toned soon.
Did three circuits of No More Trouble Zones yesterday and aching today but in a good way. Really felt it did something whereas I think my body is too used to the shred moves now.

sycamore54321 · 06/06/2015 08:44

Good morning and happy shredded weekend to all. Level 2 day 4 complete and I'm finally hitting that sweet spot where I can keep up the energy levels right the way through each move. A full night's sleep also helped lots. I was able to really push it today for the first time on level 2. It is still tough as anything but it feels good to see the improvement.

Welcome Roseybee - no better woman than Jillian to get you looking fab for your cousin's wedding!

I also got some pretty good news on the weighing scales this morning, I'm down to under half a kilo from my pre-pregnancy weight, which is very gratifying. Jillian helps keep me on the healthy eating band wagon by forcing myself to think of her when I'm pondering a late-evening snack or treat that I don't need. Since starting shredding again, I've fallen into the 14-10 model of eating and it seems to suit me.

Roseybee10 · 06/06/2015 10:19

That's fab sycamore!!
Well done you! I find when I'm exercising it makes me less likely to eat junk too.

When I started the shred after dd1 I had to follow the girl who did the lower impact moves. Now I'm naturally following the higher impact one without thinking. I love feeling strong and feeling the impact of exercise on my muscles.
I'm absolutely loaded with the cold today and feeling rotten but don't want to have a day off. I might just try and do some low impact toning and core moves so as not to tire myself too much.
I've to make my dad's birthday cake today so need to try not to eat the trimmings lol.

OublietteBravo · 06/06/2015 18:48

30DS L1D5 completed (with some extra ab work & stretching). Feeling much less tight after yesterday's rest day.

Balonder · 06/06/2015 20:26

Away for the weekend so have decided to take a rest day from the Shred. Still on level 1, I am finding most moves much easier though I find the press ups harder each day. I definitely need to work on my upper body. Good to be back in a Jillian groove though

KatharineClifton · 06/06/2015 21:45

30DS L1D3 with weights this time.

YokoUhOh · 06/06/2015 21:47

Oh god I've just started this...

...does it work?!?! Level 1 was manageable, is L2 far worse?

YokoUhOh · 06/06/2015 21:50

I find the worst bit to be the first set of cardio - always kills me - starjumps followed by skipping. Eurgh.

KatharineClifton · 06/06/2015 21:54

All of it killed me today!

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 06/06/2015 21:57

I cheat Yoko Blush - I do jumping jacks/butt kicks in circuit 1 and jump rope/boxing in circuit 2. It is much easier.

YokoUhOh · 06/06/2015 22:09

Oh that's an idea Harry, it's definitely the toughest part, isn't it? Butt kicks are a breeze compared with shitloads of jumping.

Roseybee10 · 06/06/2015 22:10

Reading this has just inspired me to do my lunges and squats even though in feeling rotten with this cold. I know if I don't do anything ill fall off the wagon.

YokoUhOh · 06/06/2015 22:10

Oh, and I've never had any upper body strength: press-ups, monkey bars, it's all beyond me. Is that normal?
