So, we seem to have filled up the 4th thread. Anyone want to join me here?

OP posts:
ThatsIrrelephant · 09/02/2016 21:59

Congratulations 2012! You must be feeling pretty chuffed right now.

Cheapandcheerful thank you - really great to hear your experience, good to hear positive stories to spur me on! How often do you parkrun?

ThatsIrrelephant · 09/02/2016 22:00

Sorry - I meant how often do you intend to parkrun (now that you're back in the saddle!)

JellyJ · 10/02/2016 13:58

Can I join you? Have just started C25K this week and hope joining this forum will keep me going - I've always hated running and can't do it. Worried I will give up and hope that the knowledge that others are in it with me might keep me going. I always find an excuse not to exercise but have done the first two runs this week. Surprisingly, they were manageable although I wouldn't say enjoyable! :-)

coolpatterngirl · 10/02/2016 14:45

Keep going Jellyj. I keep on posting to be accountable.

cheapandcheerful · 10/02/2016 19:26

Before I had the chest infection I managed parkrun most weeks and that will be the plan again.
Jellyj I found the most beneficial thing for me when I was doing c25k was having a dh who almost pushed me out of the door as some days I just couldn't be bothered. If ever I said that I wasn't in the mood, his stock response was "All the more reason you should do it then" Grin

deadwitchproject · 10/02/2016 19:52

Well done everyone! Honestly when you start you never think you can run for 90 secs let alone 30 mins but it WILL happen. I am living proof. It is one of the best things I've ever done.

coolpatterngirl · 11/02/2016 09:58

I really didn't feel like going this morning but I forced myself (thinking about my sausage legs) and covered 3.8kms. I'm glad I went now (week 2 run 4)

2ndSopranosRule · 11/02/2016 13:05

Did w2r1 yesterday. The first 90 second run was a bit of a shock but by the end it felt better. I'm looking forward to my run tomorrow!

AlbusPercival · 11/02/2016 13:27

Tried W1R1 yesterday, legs completely seized up. Have run further recently, but physio on my legs is causing me a lot of troubles

stopfaffing · 11/02/2016 18:43

I've had to put my Cto5K on the back burner just now. I tripped and fell last Saturday when doing gentle job in my local woods and hurt my ribs on the left side. I seemed to manage for a couple of days with the discomfort although sleeping was virtually impossible due to pain whenever I moved.

I managed to further exacerbate the injury on Tuesday overnight, struggling to get out of bed in the morning and, although I managed to get to work, struggled.

Taken the day off today and trying to rest to help the injury to heal. I am lookin forward to returning to the programme in a week, perhaps. It is great for really unfit people like me and I am amazed that I have managed as well as I have so far. Best of luck to everybody!

coolpatterngirl · 11/02/2016 18:58

Feel better soon stopfaffing and albuspercival

KeepOnPlodding · 11/02/2016 22:41

Well done 2012. You must be really pleased!

I did W5r1 this morning and it was ok, albeit freezing cold at 6:30am. This week has been difficult to get out though and I'm hoping I can do r2 and r3 at the weekend (including the slightly scary 20min one Shock)

Cocacolaandchocolate · 11/02/2016 22:44

Hi all, can I join you!
I tonight have done wk4r2 today.

I have again enjoyed... And secretly cannot believe I can really run for 5 mins!!😃

KeepOnPlodding · 11/02/2016 22:51

That's good news cocacola. Are you enjoying it? I completed w4 last week and whilst I had very sore legs I actually felt for the first time as if I could complete this!

Just out of interest, do you all run the same route each time or do you vary it? I plod 'out and back' on exactly the same route. I am quite enjoying seeing that I am getting a bit further each week, even if it's just a couple of lamp-posts! I have my 5k target in sight - just need to get there...

Cocacolaandchocolate · 11/02/2016 23:11

Yes, I do enjoy it. Not before I go but after the 1st run I feel good.
My legs really hurt tonight though.

I worry as I have seen the next couple of weeks though.
I go the same route.. And guess which house/lamppost/ street Laura will tell me to slow down. lol.
I need to sort my breathing though. I'm afraid I might sound like I'm gasping for air when I'm not.

ThatsIrrelephant · 12/02/2016 21:11

I'm lucky to have a nice park 5 mins from my house, so I do my 5 min warm up walking there and then run/walk round the park on the Tarmac paths. So the same area each run so far.

2ndSopranosRule · 16/02/2016 11:35

Successfully completed w3r1 last night. Can't quite believe how I managed three minutes of running twice: in week two 90 seconds felt like such a huge step up from 60 seconds.

Laura is fast becoming an important part of my life and is given me more encouragement than most of the actual humans who know I'm doing this.

Stellar67 · 17/02/2016 06:18

Week 4 run 1 for me tomorrow, wasn't well and had to rest a redo a bit.
Well done everyone!

KeepOnPlodding · 17/02/2016 22:13

Finished W6 R2 tonight. SmileSmileSmile

For those of you in the earlier weeks have faith in Laura! I wouldn't have believed 4 weeks ago that I could keep going for 20mins - it was hard but felt amazing once I'd done it.

Due to weather and work I've had to plod on the treadmill this week though which I'm not particularly enjoying and I'm a bit worried that it'll be harder again when I get back outside. I am preparing myself to repeat a week if needed once I plod outside.

Stellar67 · 18/02/2016 10:10

Brilliant! Well done.

Week 4 Run 1 for me today. Icy and cold but done!

Keep going everyone!

stopfaffing · 19/02/2016 19:59

It is great to read about everybody's experiences. I will be starting back doing the Cto5K on Monday after a couple of weeks off after tripping and injuring ribs. Very painful, but now much better Smile. I am going to carry on from when I stopped, at week 3.

KeepOnPlodding · 21/02/2016 20:52

Well done Stellar!

Well, I managed to do W6 R3 GrinGrinGrin

I probably shouldn't have had the WineWineWine the night before but somehow I managed to run for 25mins. My legs are still aching today but given that 5 weeks ago I was puffing and panting after 3 mins I feel quite proud.

stopfaffing · 22/02/2016 07:40

That's great, keep!

I returned to Cto5K this morning after a couple of weeks of due to injury. Repeated week 3 and managed it fine, despite the time off. Will start week 4 on Wednesday.

2ndSopranosRule · 22/02/2016 09:22

Feel very tired after completing w4r1 yesterday, plus I have a dodgy tum Sad. Dh says this is common with running and Google concurs. Is anyone else having this problem?

honeylou42 · 22/02/2016 09:45

Hi ,can I join everybody ?I have just started the NHS C25k , and have just completed W1R2 I know it's early days but have enjoyed it and am determined to stick with it. Please can I ask does anybody else do this on the treadmill and does it make any difference, I feel too self conscious to head out on the open road atm Smile
