So, we seem to have filled up the 4th thread. Anyone want to join me here?

Just got for it, midnight Its amazing what your muscles remember! With repeat the run you have just done, or carry on. Depends on how tough you found your last run, I guess.

Ugh

I don't want to run today. I know it's only 30 mins... But I can't be arsed to go get changed, find my keys, blah blah... yes I'm just looking for excuses

Sad
MissisBee · 22/06/2015 18:04

Just done w9r2. It was tough going today but not really sure why. Trying to improve my speed but think I'll still take about 45mins to do the full 5k. I think I'll work towards that once I've finished then try and get a bit faster.

Howlongtillbedtime · 22/06/2015 18:07

Noisy Get off your butt and get going , you will be pleased you have done it and you then get to look forward to a smug day off tomorrow !

addictedtosugar · 22/06/2015 18:42

noisy think how much better you'll feel afterwards. I hate going out, but usually feel better for the rest of the day.

Howlongtillbedtime · 22/06/2015 19:07

Well done Noisy Now you can enjoy your smug glow Grin

midnight1983 · 22/06/2015 19:44

Thwarted by childcare! I'll get to it tomorrow. Well done everyone - seeing people on wk 8 or 9 really inspires me!

lbnblbnb · 23/06/2015 06:12

Week 6 Run 1 for me tonight. Hope it isn't drizzly.

GlowWine · 23/06/2015 07:48

midnight1983 I would possibly repeat the last couple of runs completed before I took the break. You will find it harder again so I would not quite press ahead to the next week. Depends a bit on where you are too though.

MissisBee yay well done! I would just keep going at the 30mins for now. You will speed up with time. Once you have been running the 30 for a while I'd look a speed and reaching the 5k in the time.

midnight1983 · 23/06/2015 08:16

Glow, thanks for the tip, though I only saw it this morning. In the end I went for it last night after dinner Shock It was actually great and I was only going from wk 2 to wk 3 so it was totally fine. Even though the runs were longer I found it easier as they were less frequent. I think going after dinner is fab - I have lots of energy and there's not as many people hanging around the park.

weaseleyes · 23/06/2015 08:55

I've did wk6 r3! 25 minutes! It was pretty damn hellish, but not loads more so than the 20 minute one. I'm pleased to have survived, but a bit daunted at the thought of continuous long runs from hereon in.

I think I should get a prize for slowest ever runner. In 40 mins (extra 5 min walk as I ended up in a strange place), I covered a mighty 3.75k. Whenever app woman says that if I feel tired I should just slow down, I think but thats physically impossible!

McButtonwillow · 23/06/2015 11:20

weasel I'm just back from w6 r3, the first 10 mins were tough and like you I'm a bit daunted by the prospect of no more breaks in the runs! I only managed 3.8k and ran slowly but I knew if I went any faster I wouldn't get through the run. Hoping speed will come later Grin

weaseleyes · 23/06/2015 12:33

Glad you made it through too, mcbutton! After the 20 min run my thighs were screaming for two days. At the moment they're just moaning gently, so I'm trying to take that as an encouraging omen.

McButtonwillow · 23/06/2015 16:10

Grin Grin

MissisBee · 23/06/2015 17:03

FINISHED!!! Grin Grin
Just back from my 3rd week 9 run. Knackered but delighted I've done it. And I have actually got faster. I was looking back through my tracking apps and in the past 2 weeks my average speed has gone from 6.5 km/h to 6.99km/h. I didn't think I ever could get faster but somehow I have. It does explain why I found today's run tough going, that and the heat today. I think I'll take Glow's advice and stick with 30mins. I have entered a 5k run in August so I have that to work towards.
McButton and weasley I think you're faster than I was at that stage - keep going!

EmberRose · 23/06/2015 17:41

Just back from W4 R2 found it quite hard as it warm today and I got chased by a dog. Found an app which has told me I did 3.89km in 29 mins, that includes warm up but not down which I am quite happy with. Well done missisBee very impressive to have finished !

Iggi999 · 23/06/2015 21:08

I have such a bad cough at the moment that I haven't run for a week. Really pissed off about it but I just wouldn't be able to catch my breath.
Checking in so I don't lose the running urge!

Dismalfuckers · 24/06/2015 10:00

W6r2 complete. Struggled with last five minute run, but it was quite muggy this morning.

Did see a deer (faster than meGrin) and smelled some lovely wild roses on my travels, so made me smile despite my struggles.

GlowWine · 24/06/2015 13:26

Hi I'm still alive. Two 25min runs under my belt this week. Today was not nice, really sore in my calves again (uphill), BUT I covered exactly 4km in 25mins, this is the first time I've actually measured it properly. 5k is definitely in my reach!

MissisBee glad to hear you're improving already. I just remember from last time, I kept listening to the W9 podcast with Laura for weeks and weeks, and noticing that I was gradually going further and further in the same time. That's when I asked for a GPS watch for Christmas Grin, it was long before I had a smartphone.

midnight1983 yes I definitely prefer to run when there's less people about. In summer it's usually cooler too (but in winter it's dark and freezing)

SwingingBalls · 24/06/2015 15:27

W5R3 completed today. Not as bad as I thought. Lovely weather today so I put my shorts on (they come about half way down my thighs so not short shorts). Once I completed the run I carried on walking and did a bigger circuit than normal and covered 6.88k altogether. The sunshine certainly makes this running lark easier Smile

Well done to those ones that have finished the program. Hopefully there'll be a few more completions in the coming weeks.

Howlongtillbedtime · 24/06/2015 16:10

Wk 6 r3 completed. was tough and i had to slow down for the last five minutes but I did it. It will get easier won't it ?

weaseleyes · 24/06/2015 20:09

I hope so, howlong!

Howlongtillbedtime · 25/06/2015 14:40

I had some unexpected time on my hands today so I have now done wk7 r1 .

I can't believe I have managed to get this far and actually it was a tiny bit easier than wk6 r3 which I am delighted about .

I am still not up to 5k but I am just pleased to be this far with it all . I had already run 15mins before I started wishing the minutes away , where as I can remember just a couple of weeks ago dreading running for 5 or 8 mins . It works Grin

Long may this feeling last !

McButtonwillow · 25/06/2015 20:32

Well done everyone.

W7 R1 done this morning and I found it really tough. My calves were really aching for the first half, then I just felt generally knackered for the next 15. Only managed just over 3.5k and my pace was much slower. Feel a bit fed up tbh but onwards and upwards I guess Sad
