So, we seem to have filled up the 4th thread. Anyone want to join me here?

OP posts:

Completed week 2 with a morning run! Had an awful moment where I thought I had done last 90 seconds but it was second to last Confused I pushed through and it was ok. I think a small amount of food (yogurt) and lots of water is fine for first thing run. Thanks for the tips!

Iggi999 · 07/06/2015 10:25

Thank you! I had a dream last night that I was running - in normal clothes etc, just running along the street! Have lost weight this week too so a good week all round. now just make sure I don't screw it all up
Enjoy your runs today Smile

lbnblbnb · 07/06/2015 12:07

Aaargh, week 3 run 1 due today and my motivation is zero. Thanks to those who have posted - I need to get out there and do it.

Dismalfuckers · 07/06/2015 12:18

Go for it lbn! I did mine on Friday and was okSmile

MrsWooster · 07/06/2015 14:32

So, w1r1 attempted. Ivan confirm that trying it with a 5yo and 2 yo is impossible. Who knew?!

MrsWooster · 07/06/2015 16:26

I can confirm... Though Ivan would probably agree, whoever he is.

lbnblbnb · 07/06/2015 16:38

DismalFuckers - I have done it and it really wasn't too bad. Lovely blue sky and cartoon clouds.

fierypoppy · 07/06/2015 17:43

w3r3 today, it was so windy again (about 30 mph) I walked for some parts but did extra running when I made a turn and wasn´t going against the wind. Also I ran deliberately slower today, maybe this is why I could do a longer run in the end :) Any suggestions for running when it´s extra windy?

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 07/06/2015 20:40

Get the fanfare out, I've graduated!!

Wk9 all complete and am running 5k in 31 mins so all on track. I'm even managing to run with Laura and never thought I'd say that Smile

To those who are early on in the program. Stick with it, follow it and you can do it!!!

I have never ran in my life, or been to a gym. I am late 40s and a stone or so overweight. If I can do this you can!!

Please keep going the sense of achievement is fantastic. GrinGrinGrin

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 07/06/2015 20:42

Sorry meant run without Laura. Poor Laura, she was my bff. Hope she's not too miffed Smile

lbnblbnb · 07/06/2015 20:46

Congratulations IDoAll - brilliant motivation! X

DontDoItDi · 07/06/2015 20:48

Congratulations IDoAllMyOwnStunts! And full speed ahead Grin

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 07/06/2015 21:08

Aw cheers folks. I just can't believe the program has turned me into a runner Shock. From doing bugger all.

I can remember the struggles and fear of running for 3 mins let alone 30. And now get me ShockGrin.

The hard parts going to be keeping it up I imagine. Got a 5k run booked but that's not until October. It's that Run or Dye thing, looks fun.

lbnblbnb · 07/06/2015 22:16

I want to do parkrun once I have finished and I think the motivation of seeing my times each week will be good.

HalfwayUpALadder · 08/06/2015 07:36

I didW5R2 this morning - i got up at 5.30 to do it before dh left for work as I probably wouldn't be able to fit it in today otherwise.
I cannot believe I ran for 8 mins...twice!
Can't believe I doubted Laura... I need to put my trust in her Grin
Freaked out about the 20 mins coming in R3 GrinGrinGrin

Howlongtillbedtime · 08/06/2015 08:01

Hello all , can I join in ? I haven't been following the plan but I have been trying to get out and run . I have looked at the programme and I think I am up to wk 4 (ish) So today I am going to start there . If that doesn't work I will go back a week and start from there .

I am not going to give up . I need to get fitter and I am also on a weight loss mission . I am using fitbit and have lost a stone in just over a month .

HookedOnHooking · 08/06/2015 08:30

Morning all. Week 5 starts today. It's brilliant to see people actually finishing it Flowers well done!

Howlongtillbedtime · 08/06/2015 10:01

I managed wk4 r1 Grin

Very pleased , I struggled the last couple of minutes but I did it !

It feels better to be following a programme rather than just making it up as I go along . I still can't imagine running for a whole 30 mins but reading all your stories is really helping .

Bramshott · 08/06/2015 10:03

Well done IDo! Running without Laura Shock!

W3R2 today was fine. I think I'm almost starting to prefer the longer runs as once you've got going you can just keep plodding on.

Definitely need to vary my route next time as my current one, although flattish, has one uphill stretch which always now seems to coincide with my last run. Going to try a new one which is uphill to start (we're quite hilly here) but then downhill coming back.

No advice re windy running, but I guess it all comes back to the plodding. I hate it when its windy as my earphones crackle!

McButtonwillow · 08/06/2015 10:54

Morning everyone, welcome howlong

Brilliant ido you can be our inspiration! I did w5r1 today and managed to push myself to go a bit faster in the last 5 mins so pleased with that.

halfway glad the 8 mins were ok, have mine planned for weds and I am also slightly freaked out by the 20 mins on Friday so I'll be looking out for how you get on Smile.

I'm going to vary my routes a bit more now the longer runs are coming, I need a change of scenery Smile

Well done everyone, I'm loving this thread.

monkeymayhem · 08/06/2015 12:33

Hello everyone! Sounds like all has been going well the past few days! I did w4r2 this morning and it was definitely easier than last time. After a couple of days of doing very little except eating stodgy food and getting poor sleep I did find it hard at the beginning but I think it just takes the first few minutes to find my rhythm and not go too fast. I always run the same route, along a farm track between some fields then turn around at the half way point. I quite like it because it is so quiet but not sure what i will do once the longer stretches kick in. I think i need to plan some routes but not sure of how to do it to work out how long they are. I don't want to end up 15 minutes from home when the session finishes! Do you all just use trial and error? I still haven't braved running on pavements or roads where I am more visible!

Hello howlong, I have been looking at Fitbits but trying to resist the urge to buy one just yet. Can I ask which one you've got?

AppleSnapple · 08/06/2015 13:12

I did w8r1 today and was feeling good so kept on going, ran for 36 mins yahoo! Hit 5k at 38 mins (with the first 5 minutes walking) so huge room for improvement, but given that after w1r1 I had to get into the bath for 2 hours as I couldn't move my legs... Grin ... I've come a long way!!!

Massive congrats on graduating, stunts!

Iggi999 · 08/06/2015 13:17

Monkeymayhem, fitbits are great - if a bit addictive! I've noticed I'm much better at exercising on my non-running days too, in order to reach the 10,000 steps goal. And I'm eating less as it tells me when I've had too much Blush though you don't have to do that if you don't want to. I have the zip - the clip on one.

SwingingBalls · 08/06/2015 13:46

I'm loving everyone's updates. It's great to hear what we all think of the different stages.

I completed w4r3 yesterday and found it really hard. My legs were like lead. I've been going to the gym as well, doing my usual classes of Body Combat and Zumba, 2-3 times per week, so maybe I'm trying to fit too much in and not having enough rest days. It's only another month to my holidays and I'm determined to be a bit firmer looking in my bikini Smile

I'm really not looking forward to the longer runs in week 5 and I'm not quite sure when I'll fit them in as I'm at work a few days this week. Hopefully, if the weather's good, I might get a couple in on an evening which is my favourite time to run.

monkeymayhem · 08/06/2015 14:19

Hi iggi I find it really hard to get my steps up, even though I ran today I am still only at 6,000 because most of my day is sat at the desk. Do you have to input your food via computer or something? Sorry for all the questions!

Sounds like you are doing a lot Swinging but I am a bit envious of your classes, would love to try body combat, just can't fit it in! I think having my two day break after the first run of a new week is helping as it gives me that bit longer to recover both physically and mentally!
