Hi all, I've just realised I maxed out our thread by posting the 1000th post earlier so I thought I should start a new one!

Hoping you all find me here...

Sarah congrats on new house!

Jackster i bet you didn't suck and burned lots of fat too; I have been totally modifiying my last couple of workouts and I managed Insanity max 30 sweat intervals without maxing out - this just showed me how hard I really am working when I am not modifiying or only modifiying a bit - even though I feel like I am not doing well enough - I am actually working really hard!

Knee still a bit crumby Boobz so going to continue to take it down a notch for a bit. I did a 25 min kettlebell intro workout today and that was fairly comfortable (was careful with squats) so then tried Insanity max 30 ab workout but gave up at 8 mins - I think 'Plank' is my new least favourite word!

Good work Purple Wine

swampy T25 will be more fun this time as others will prob doing it on here too!

Hi to Spooky, Newrule, and Jem

jemstipp · 29/06/2015 16:17

Hey ladies. Just wondering has anyone tried those waist trainers or are they just the gimmick I suspect them to be. I have a pretty waistless figure no matter how toned/untoned I am so any info?

Purpleraindeer · 29/06/2015 20:38

Well done on insanity plyo jackster. Just the fact that you can push yourself hard enough to make it nausea inducing means you must be fit and working hard so don't be too hard on yourself.

Poppy - sorry your knees are still bad. V good effort getting thru sweat intervals without maxing. That workout is so hard. I've still never done that abs work out. I'm too mentally weak to start another DVD after finishing one. And now you've put me off as I hate planks.

Sarah - hope the house cleaning provided a full strength and cardio work out. You'll be begging to get back to some lovely easy Shaun t

Cardio challenge for me tonight. Was roasting in my living room. Also I read an article in the times about a man who changed his diet to low fat (=higher sugar) foods, ate the same cals but put on 3.5kg in a few weeks Shock. Apparently cals from sugar are worse or something? It said the WHO recommendation is only 6tsp sugar per day. Is that added sugar or all sugar? Given that I just ate a danio yoghurt with 17g sugar I'm already over my sugar limit and that's just from a snack.

Boobz - hope your chemo goes ok

Hi to everyone else!

Boobz · 30/06/2015 10:40

Sugar is evil. I have pretty much reduced it to nothing for the past 2 weeks and have lost 4kg.

Did my Barry's Bootcamp this morning (LOVE LOVE LOVE Barry's!) and now sat in chemo chair about to get pumped full of drugs. Not really up for it today - mainly because I hate the cold cap thing (which keeps my hair on my head). Haven't had time to have breakfast today as the the Barry's class was at 7:10am and they just took my blood pressure and it's very low! Need to eat something quick!

Jacksterbear · 30/06/2015 11:20

Hope it goes ok Boobz. Btw you were my inspiration yest getting through that Insanity hell; kept thinking if Boobz can do it while undergoing chemo, I have no excuse! Grin

yumyumpoppycat · 30/06/2015 11:42

I had an emergency house cleaning cardio session this am, unfortunately spoiled it with coffee and cake with visitors afterwards.

So true about sugar...I gain weight when I eat sugar, bread etc even if I count calories but lose weight without counting calories if I cut certain things out.

yumyumpoppycat · 30/06/2015 11:43

Sorry posted too early hope it goes ok Boobz, hope weekend ahead isnnt too bad too. Jackster you are so right I have had the same thought before!

spookyskeleton · 01/07/2015 07:34

boobz hope the chemo went well Flowers

Sarah good luck in your new home Smile

Hi to everyone else!

Been really busy with RL stuff these last few days but managed to squeeze a couple of workouts in. Did Extreme Circuit and really enjoyed it but prefer Ript up I think. Have done myself a new hybrid with just t25 and combat as I wasn't really enjoying piyo - I thought it would be more yoga but it seems to be predominantly Pilate's. However, my gym is starting piyo classes soon so I am going to try it there to see if I enjoy it more in a class environment.

5:2 diet going well - done 2 fast days and using shakes and have found it surprisingly easy. Just hope the weight loss follows Confused

yumyumpoppycat · 01/07/2015 10:09

Piyo classes sound great spooky. I actually had a 1-1 intro pilates lesson yest. It was nothing like the pilates on dvds or piyo...no planks at all, just subtle movements. I felt really calm at the end of it. The most interesting thing was that I learned I can do very clumsy situps!!! The instructor said it is partly knowing that you can do them and then I did Confused I think I was using my back to try and sit up and apparently in pilates you use your whole body including legs... mine lifted off the floor but apparently that is ok and actually as I have practiced it has lessened. The technique she described of rolling the pelvis also has made my going back down part of the sit up more controlled. Woo hoo! Def makes me think an odd 1:1 / PT session is worthwhile.

Hope you are doing ok in the heat Boobz and everyone {hands out chilled wine iced protein shakes}

yumyumpoppycat · 01/07/2015 10:11

Oh and well done on first week of fasting!

Purpleraindeer · 02/07/2015 07:15

Well done on the 5:2 spooky. I love the idea of that but I just think I'd hate fast days. I'm finding it hard to want to cook in the eves as its too hot, but then am eating cheese and biscuits for dinner which I'm sure is actually more calorific than what i was going to cook in the first place!

Am finding it tough to exercise as its super hot here (house thermostat said 27c when I got home last night). I wimped out and didn't do work out. Will try to do it today as its supposed to be cooler.

Also looked at Barry's boot camp classes. £20 ea!! But looked great. They were fully booked so I guess everyone else thinks they're great too. Am going to agree a night with DH that I can go after work and he'll do the kids. Will be a little 'treat' for me!

Have a good day - try to stay cool! Smile

Purpleraindeer · 02/07/2015 15:32

Managed tabata power this lunchtime. Had to do it in sports bra, bikini bottoms and trainers as it was so hot in my living room. I was relieved no-one came to the door. They'd have got a fright!! Grin

Sarahlouboo · 02/07/2015 16:56

hi everyone!

Purple - let us know how Barry's bootcamp goes! Sounds intriguing. A year ago I would have thought that sounded like a waste of money but now I think, wow that sounds really good!

Spooky - well done on the fasting. My mum swears by it. I found myself getting enormously cross and going to bed early (and then waking up with a headache) so it wasn't for me but wow some people get brilliant results with it.

Yumyum (I should call you Poppy like everyone else! It took me ages to realise that yumyum and poppy were one and the same - doh!) - that is interesting re sit ups. You are right, sometimes it is just about giving something a go. I still haven't got around to trying full push ups so I will try and select a workout tonight which incorporates them.

Boobz - Flowers Wine, hope the chemo was not too awful? Barry's bootcamp before chemo! Love it!

Jemstip - sorry, never tried waist trainers!

Nothing much to report here (apart from cleaning blinds gives you a good upper body work out!). DH has purchased exercise mats so I have done a couple of workouts this week. Still fear the wooden floors are going to be bad for my knees/back. Good NSV today - wore a dress that I haven't worn since last summer and it fits nicely and I have had lots of compliments including two people telling me I look skinny! I am wearing fab wedges today though which do help with the illusion! The dress has buttons on the sleeves and last year I couldn't do them up due to my chubby arms Grin Which is why, wooden floor or no, I have to keep going! Totally relaxed the whole MFP thing though, that was making me a bit anxious. See you all later. Hope you are surviving in this heat.

Jacksterbear · 02/07/2015 17:58

Ooh that Pilates instruction sounds great poppy. I would love to arrange some personal instruction for that sort of thing as I'm so paranoid re making stomach muscles bulge out more rather than flattening them, by having incorrect form.

Purple, well done, and the outfit description made me Grin. How is work going and are you settling into a routine of fitting exercise in ok?

PiYo Sweat done today.

For those who were talking about jeans for shorter legs a while back... I'm really pleased with these which I've just bought to replace my worn-through Oasis ones. They are the Next Premium range, skinny, petite length.

Sarah great NSV. Smile I actually have the opposite problem with sleeves - have always had v scrawny arms but have recently acquired some muscles (not exactly huge bulging biceps but a little curve which wasn't there before) and lots of sleeves are now too tight! ConfusedGrin

Hi Jackster - sorry I missed you out! I will have to check out the Next jeans.

Purpleraindeer · 04/07/2015 11:09

Sarah - great nsv!
Next jeans are the best jackster. The only trousers that fit at the mo are next skinny jeans and they're only £22. Awesome.
No exercise to report from me. Was frantically packing for our hol. Am at gatwick now waiting for our flight. Have got exercise stuff with me so will be going running. Will do some insanity too if can find it on the Internet. I will try to check in, but if not see you all in 2 weeks.
Happy exercising!! Grin

Sarahlouboo · 04/07/2015 15:51

Get to enjoy all your hard work! Grin

Been for a run this morning before it heated up. Happy weekend everyone x

spookyskeleton · 04/07/2015 16:23

purple have a fabulous holiday Smile

Am slowly ploughing through my schedule. Am enjoying the mix of T25 and combat. Just did core speed today which was fab.

The tennis is hampering my efforts though as I get engrossed in matches which then eats into my workout time Grin

EleanorAbernathy · 05/07/2015 03:13

Hi - I've been lurking on this thread for the last couple of weeks now and thought it was time I joined in!

After trying to do the 30 Day Shred for about 24 days, and getting to the point where I just could not face doing the same workout again for yet another day, I decided to try Insanity instead.

I've just finished week 2 - and have not only lost 3.5 pounds since I started, but my arms now look great! Grin Grin (It is a very novel thing for me having a body part I like the look of!)

I didn't post before now as I wasn't sure if I could manage to fit it in as I work long rotating shifts - but now I've managed for 2 weeks I'm hoping to stick with it.

I am very loosely following the diet plan too - the several small meals has been working very well for me, but I prefer a bigger meal in the evening so have to combine a couple.

I really HATED Pure Cardio today. It was too hot, and I had to take more breaks than normal - but I managed to get to the end (we shall not speak of the part at the beginning during switch kicks where i swore very loudly and paused the DVD before going to get a fan then carrying on again! Blush ).

swampytiggaa · 05/07/2015 14:14

Hi there! Have started T25 again today as you have all inspired me :) did cardio this morning followed by hardcore abs. Fingers crossed I stick with it this time!

Boobz you sound amazing x

Jacksterbear · 05/07/2015 20:19

Eleanor, welcome. Great start. I always find days 2/3 of a new exercise regime the hardest so you're well past that! And the general consensus on here is that Pure Cardio is nasty! Grin

swampy yay! Glad we have converted you.

Have done DIY tabata/HIIT/interval sessions (using tabata app on my phone) both today and yesterday, just for a change from DVDs. Yesterday I did a mix of cardio and strength moves (power jumps, high knees, push ups, bicycle kicks, etc) for 30 mins total. Today I did it on the exercise bike. When not doing DVDs I always get a bit paranoid that I'm not pushing myself hard enough (as there's no-one to set the pace, iyswim), and to compensate, usually end up pushing myself mega hard!

Have realised we have been missing fullsteam for quite a while - hope she is ok.

spookyskeleton · 05/07/2015 21:47

Eleanor welcome to the thread Smile

jackster what is the difference between HIIT and tabata? Is there one?

Well, after 10 days of the 5:2 diet which had 3 fasts in it, I have been able to do up a skirt that was too tight previously, tried on some jeans that were too tight and they fitted and my 'fat' skirt which had also become too tight now fits again Grin I am happy and it has really motivated me - anther fast day tomorrow Smile
