Woo! How exciting to be the last on one thread and the first on another!

OP posts:
cinnamongreyhound · 11/03/2015 13:38

Yes, that's what I meant 5madthings! I am a lot slower now but I have to say I'm much more worried about post birth running than running pregnant! Also just fitting in runs around being totally knackered!

5madthings · 11/03/2015 13:44

I am in awe of you still running and i think you will be suprised how easy it seems once you are back out without a bump! It will be the tiredness that is hard.

familygermsareok · 11/03/2015 16:28

Just popped on thread to say hi, no running from me until Fri, just too busy Sad.
I always used to feel v self conscious running and was pretty overweight when I started. I am lucky that most of my runs are on country roads so few spectators but I still get overtaken or pass opposite fit young things out of Runnersworld ads and I secretly hate them. I don't think many people really take much notice of runners though, we are part of the landscape now and most folk have their own preoccupations. I just remind myself that I am running because I love it and it is good for me and I'm not going to give a flying fart about what strangers think.

cinnamon 36 weeks? Hmm, let me ponder the idea of running 5 miles at 'only' 36 weeks! Nope, still in awe Grin Grin. Good luck for forthcoming birth and hopefully Aug 10k.

twobambinos · 11/03/2015 16:30

579.91 plus my 2.75 intervals on a treadmill all by my lonesome all runs are by myself boo boo. total anyway is 582.6

omg i have seen some awful pics of myself taken during races. my dad is a good one for taking much of these pics. he is so proud tho and really never thinks they look bad.

cinnamon sure cant you see how you feel after the birth. with running so close to your due date you might be absolutely fine you never know. i didnt run until after i had my second baby. i was so sick with the two of them that i dont know if i even would manage it. i tried to keep as active as i could but sometimes even in pilates i would have to get up and vomit mid class. gross i know.
if i every have another baby i may have a go at the running and see.

i bought julie tuplers book online and it was delivered today im determined to shift the little pouch i seem to be carrying around. hope it works.

hello everyone else. keep up the good work.

Oh I wrote a lovely long hilarious deep & moving post and my iPad ate it

Anyways, I ran 8.5 miles today, it was great. Didn't push myself and averaged 10 minute miles. Was an hour and a half totally alone (though a guinea fowl gave me a bit of a fright at one point). Really one of the good days.

Neeko · 11/03/2015 17:20

I've really been enjoying all the chat the past few days. This is such a supportive thread. Smile

Still. Well done for getting back out there. I think self-doubt is normal.

5mad. I think you are doing brilliantly for just getting on with things. The lack of motivation is probably hormone related.

I ran my furthest ever today. 5.1 miles along the coast. I'm totally buzzing!

Well I was going to.go for a run tonight but that's gone out the window now. Dd (nearly 5) had an excellent parents evening so rewarded my excellent parenting decision to work full time and she go to nursery ft until she started school which gave her an accelerated start with a large glass of wine! Oops I'll run tmrw instead!

Sazorchard31 · 11/03/2015 19:05

great work neeko! coast running is great, i love smelling the sea air when i run.

Neeko · 11/03/2015 19:13

Thanks. And well done to your DD Smile

Anglaise1 · 11/03/2015 20:42

Great that so many enjoyed their runs today! Sazor congrats on DD and your parenting decision (I was the same) and I hope the weather is as good for your run tomorrow as it is forecast here. Sunshine and 15°C.
Had massive argument with DP this evening who doesn't understand why I run and thinks it has taken over my life. It has rather, training for a marathon takes time and I want to do as well as I can...my kids haven't complained about being neglected but I feel terribly selfish. Running saved me to a certain extent as being a single mum in a foreign country for the last 13 years hasn't been all that easy. DP is quite new (although I've known him ages) and hates the fact I'm often ill after races, he can't understand how you can enjoy a hobby that makes you ill. He wasn't my DP when I signed up for the marathon, it was something I wanted to achieve before hitting the big 5-0. Hopefully things will calm down once it is finished. 6 miles today. In secret.

No running Sad

Set my alarm for 6am but it was pouring with rain so I had another hour in bed Smile.

cinnamongreyhound · 11/03/2015 21:43

Hope you manage to make your dp understand Anglaise1! I 'get' dh's weight training more now although it's still a bit odd to me. The most annoying thing for me is that he gets in and walks to the gym (in our garage) if I run I usually take the dogs so they don't need walking, sort dinner either in oven on timer or slow cooker earlier in the day, need to make sure he's home for the kids etc but he is very supportive of my running and doesn't moan too much at a 5.30 alarm Wink

Shame on you OhOneOhTwoOhThree! Wink we had a frosty morning here and didn't get rain until about 5pm. I can't believe it was 9C Monday when I ran and 0C Tuesday evening Shock

Suzannewithaplan · 11/03/2015 22:31

I'm thinking that no non runner will really understand why a runner is compelled to run Anglaise but he sounds too new on the scene to be complaining about things that you were passionate about long before he was in the picture?

It's not selfish to pursue your interests, have a life, do things you enjoy etc.
You're good at running, you need to express your talents:)
Doesnt he not have his own interests?

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 12/03/2015 05:21

[cinnamon] I know. I brought vests and shorts, not waterproofs Smile. There is no running culture here. Traffic is bad and pavements are non-existent, so I need to take a taxi to one of the parks to run. Much easier when you can just open your front door and go.

^^Anglaise I agree with Suzanne.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 12/03/2015 05:21

Bold fail Grin

stilllearnin · 12/03/2015 06:31

Anglaise, obviously I dedicate about 10% of the time you do to running, but when you've got dc, a home, relationship, work, friends it is very easy not to do something you really enjoy. The reality is that if you did not run something else would take over that dp may not like either. You would just do more work, or housework, or help a friend. In the end it all amounts to the same for me.

Anglaise1 · 12/03/2015 07:40

Thanks everyone...things calmed down and he has apologised. Suzanne He doesn't have any interests except work - he has his own business and that rules his life. It is just bad timing for the marathon, I've had a lot of work done in my gites which as usual hasn't gone to plan, so trying to get a lot of things finished last minute. Clients arrive 3 days after I get back from Rome so pool needs to be up and running before I go, and I've suddenly been given more teaching contracts so I'm teaching more than I thought. DP helps me a lot with the children and the gites, but I think it got to him that I'm panicking because I still have all this work to do but I still find time to run.
Marathon training takes up a lot of time, there has been a lot more pressure with trying to keep to the training schedule (especially for the long runs). Hats off to everyone who works full time and manages to train for one!

cinnamongreyhound · 12/03/2015 08:22

Suzannewithaplan put it much better than me Anglaise1!

Suzannewithaplan · 12/03/2015 08:25

That does sound pretty hectic Anglaise, I don't know how you cope!
Glad to hear it's calmed down and apologies have been issued :)
?

emummy · 12/03/2015 10:44

Glad you & he have sorted it Anglaise, hope life gets less hectic soon!
4.5 from me today, nice steady run and made it back before the rain, hurray! Dh got half drowned yesterday, glad to have avoided that!

3.1 early this morning. Suns up, birds singing. Love spring running Smile

611.8

HesterShaw · 12/03/2015 11:34

That sounds incredibly stressful Anglaise. Single mum in a foreign country - fair play to you. Glad to hear he has apologised. I run my own tourist based business too, and I can identify with all you say about this time of year being absolutely mental, getting everything ready for an Easter which is inconveniently early Angry. We're running round like blue arsed flies at the moment.

I am very disappointed about not getting to read your lovely long hilarious deep & moving post Thursday. Can you not remember it? :o

Anglaise1 · 12/03/2015 12:52

Hester yes, stupidly I signed up for the marathon without even checking Easter or the UK school holidays which always fall around it (they don't in France). Easter was so late last year I thought I'd have a couple of weeks after Rome before any bookings, doh! Things will fall into place, they always do but it is just a little more last minute than I'd like.
Skinny spring running is fantastic isn't it...not too hot, not too cold, birds singing, it doesn't get better.

Suzannewithaplan · 12/03/2015 14:46

spring running is already a bit too hot for me, I'll have to don shorts soon and maybe think about shorter more frequent runs.

11.59 from me

Anglaise1 · 12/03/2015 15:22

Ran in shorts and a T shirt this afternoon, the two girls I ran with both had jackets and 3/4 length stockings and were much too hot in the sunshine (16°C)
8 miles from me so:
