Anyone else starting a Beachbody workout programme? (T25, insanity etc)

yumyumpoppycat · 09/01/2015 16:16

Ok so my Focus T25 box has arrived today! Costs a lot but it has 11 25 minute work outs and some stretchy exercise band things. Idea is that because I have spent a lot I will have to knuckle down and see it through for the next 2 months.

I will probably try it over the weekend and start properly on mon. I am 3 stone overweight so this is going to be a mega challenge! Has anyone else recently started something similar or a new workout dvd and want to help motivate each other?

boobz you are far too hardcore for me Wink

Boobz · 01/03/2015 14:36

Fullsteam - it was through the Times online but you have to subscribe... not sure if I will be able to copy and paste it into a PM but will try - let me know if it works.

Yes 15% for women and 10% for men is the "hard as nails" setting I believe... anything below that and it's not healthy (periods stop etc). "Most male actors in lead roles are now sub-10 BFP.” according to the article.

Disappointing reviews of those scales! Might have to look at alternatives then.. will let you know which one we settle on when pay day comes..

Spooky this is a hard core thread! Anyone who is doing 60 days+ of beach body workouts is hard core!

Not had a fag for 24 hours now and starting to get cranky!

yumyumpoppycat · 01/03/2015 15:33

Welcome back Boobz! Glad you had a good hol. Dp has bought a pull up bar when I told him about you. We were both afraid to use it in case we pulled the door frame down. So far he can do 1 and a half Grin but that's one and a half more than me to be fair! Good luck with giving up cigs.

Fullsteam I am thinking of getting these www.amazon.co.uk/Does-monitor-body-hydration-levels/forum/Fx2M9L2ROO48BLM/Tx1XAGZZH4EBMWM/1/ref=cm_cd_dp_aar_al_a?_encoding=UTF8&asin=B0033AGBW0

Well done on your double sarahlou - I 'phoned' my double in a little (TBC and speed 1.0) because I wasn't wearing a sports bra and boob swingage was a lot more than expected.

Need to fit in a workout this afternoon before roast dinner.

Dietwise I have just finished whole 30 (more or less) and having a treat day then I might try low carb high fat this week coming. It's my last week on alpha.

I re-starting T25 tomorrow. Wish me luck, I want to lose about a stone so need to be sensible eating and stop drinking lol.

Fullsteamahead · 01/03/2015 18:05

Yumyum, those scales look pretty good. Ok, it's a bit of a step back from fitbit with its fancy syncing over wifi etc but if it works then might be a good option.

BTW, I laughed out loud about boob swingage!!!

yumyumpoppycat · 01/03/2015 19:22

Welcome aboard Chemistc!

Fullsteam Grin firmly strapped in place for abs work out today! The scale looks good because it measures visceral fat ... app that's important .. I need to read more of the reviews and persuade dp that I need another scale even though the one I have works but the fat function doesn't.

Oh btw does anyone know how it works with exercising while on a v low carb diet?? Daffodil

Boobz, how tall are you? I would like to get back to 55kg.

Purpleraindeer · 01/03/2015 21:24

Welcome back boobz. Your hol sounds great esp all the lovely food. I miss puddings!
I did a guilt double today. Fell off the diet wagon big style yesterday so did the scheduled core cardio from beta then alpha lower focus as all the talk re the lunges made me want to give it a go. Feel knackered now but better for doing it. Have a funny ache by my hip and am paranoid it is my c section scar. Surely I can't have done any damage at this stage as ds is 4 mths?
Measured my body fat finally. I am 31pc. Not as bad as I had thought but makes me think that my target weight of 60kg might be a bit heavy still.
Poppy - the idea of doing any workout without a heavy duty sports bra made me laugh. I'd have got 2 black eyes!!

Purpleraindeer · 01/03/2015 21:25

I should have said I'm 5ft 2 in

Boobz · 02/03/2015 06:36

I am 5'3 Newrule - with stubby legs!

I work out on a low carb diet - your body burns fat instead of sugar so you get slimmer, quicker.

The first week or so low carb is hard due to the change, but after 7-10 days, your body gets used to it and the blood sugar levels even out throughout the day so you actually have less hunger pangs than on a normal diet.

Boobz · 02/03/2015 06:37

7:36am - Max Interval Plyo before work, here I come!

Purpleraindeer · 02/03/2015 10:09

Poppy I did a low carb diet whilst pregnant (gestational diabetes) and was actually quite easy to get used to. It Prob wasn't as low carb as you're planning but was easy to stick to. Altho it wasn't my intention to use it to manage my weight it was v effective at that as I didn't put on any weight at all in the 2nd and 3rd trimester so all my flab just turned into a baby!

Core cardio done this am. Was brutal on my quads after my double yesterday. Was clock watching after 10mins.

spookyskeleton · 02/03/2015 10:27

Well that was shit today! Just did TBC and really struggled - just when I thought it was getting easier Sad

Just going to put it down to a bad day plus it is morning and I never exercise well in the mornings!

Just been looking at some of the beta workouts and I like the look of them. I like training with weights so I am looking forward to it although I am sure it is going to hurt like hell Grin

Good luck on your workouts everyone.

yumyumpoppycat · 02/03/2015 10:52

Thanks Boobz and Purple so it looks as though it will be ok with low carb. I had eggs with butter for breakfast - I need to remember the greens tomorrow. I have cut back on bad carbs a fair bit in general so hopefully that will help.

Think I am TBC today spooky, it is def hard work. I totally agree that the workouts are much harder in the morning. Apparently we burn much more fat if exercising on an empty tummy before breakfast so that's some comfort! I don't enjoy the workouts though if I do them before breakfast so try to do a mixture of times.

have been very naughty as the name suggests and keep forgetting to check the thread.

On week 3 alpha T25 finding TBC the hardest thing ever!

Some one up thread asked about muscle building in T25 and my DH is doing gamma which is all strength. He lifts some massive weights (4 out of 5 workouts) whilst doing the 25 minutes it's very hardcore! There is also speed 3 on it. You do have to buy it separately (another £65) but as we are both doing it we thought it was worth it.

Contacted the beachbody community as you can't sign up without a USA address pretty lame. They give you a fake one if you email them. Does anyone have the nailed it tshirt how did they get it?

Always find Monday the hardest thing ever.

Boobz · 02/03/2015 12:41

Found this whilst researching body fat measuring...

Skulpt Aim

Trying to see if it has good reviews before forking out...

Sarahlouboo · 02/03/2015 20:04

Lol Purple, glad I am not the only one clock watching after ten minutes! Although some days that is more like five.

Alpha cardio done after work today. Week 4 already! Looking forward to moving on to Beta. Def seeing an improvement cardio wise. Not really trying to lose weight at the moment (although don't want to get complacent!) but would like to be more toned, especially at the tops of my thighs.

jemstipp · 02/03/2015 20:14

Im on the core cardio and balance week. First day today. Nice to be not out of puff but still get the muscle burn. I am 5'3, 9st 6lbwhich is the same weight as when I started but I know I am more toned as I can feel it in my clothes so don't really care.

Jacksterbear · 02/03/2015 20:31

You are all doing awesomely. High fives and cheesy "woot woots" all round. Smile

Last few days have done T25's Upper Focus, Lower Focus, and Dynamic Core. I like mixing it up between Alpha and Beta. Will possibly fit in an Insanity and a PiYo at some point this week.

Hesbeen interesting to hear about Gamma (although annoying you have to fork out extra for the Speed - same thing as with Core Speed (I think) in Beta - which they try to make you think is "missing" from the box set and can be claimed for free, but costs £20 on Amazon. Hmm). I would like to see a Shaun T set of workouts with more strength/weights stuff.

HesBeenAVeryNaughtyBoy · 02/03/2015 21:06

Jack : Speed 3 was included in our gamma set.

Jacksterbear · 02/03/2015 21:09

Oh, sorry, misunderstood you re Speed 3, HesBeen!

chemistc · 02/03/2015 23:24

So I did Cardio - Day 1. I am knackered, had to do a fair bit of modifier moves. Hope it gets easier.

Boobz · 03/03/2015 06:35

7:34am - Max Interval Circuits PLUS Cardio Abs, here I come.

(DH very kindly fixed the scales - grrrr - am 53.9kg, the heaviest I have been in 6 months - damn you skiing excesses!)

Newrule · 03/03/2015 08:15

Max interval yesterday. Max plyo today. Still hating and loving it.

Purpleraindeer · 03/03/2015 08:40

Well done chemistc. It gets better quickly. I thought I wouldn't be able to carry on after 3 mins of alpha cardio the first time I did it. You just need to grit your teeth and get thru the first week and by week 2 it will feel easier
Dynamic core for me this am. am going to try to get thru the impossible scissors/v sit move .....
