New thread for park runners old and new. Who's running at home and away this weekend? Who's volunteering?

Well done cinnamon.

Was rather blustery today, and we were struck by the most awful rain & hail shower right at the beginning. Lots of eye wiping and nose sniffing, and peeling off of wet wet wet tops in the car!

About 28mins by my reckoning.

cinnamongreyhound · 15/11/2014 12:34

Rubbish! It didn't rain here just very damp air, would have bee ideal for Halloween quite spooky!

HalleLouja · 15/11/2014 13:46

I couldn't see the finish line for a while it was so foggy. Enjoyed my run and did same time as last week.

My first time running in my new club shirt.

MelanieCheeks · 15/11/2014 16:55

We managed to get our run done during a rare hour of blue sky between the heavy showers. So the paths were wet, but otherwise it was quite pleasant.

I told my head that we were just using this as a training run, I hadn't done any training this week etc. So was pleasantly surprised with an 8th lady home time of just over 26! Not quite a PB but much closer than I thought we'd get.
I put this down to core training (belly laughing at One Man Two Guvnors at the theatre last night), not guzzling wine (I was driving), and carb loading on Pringles and Minstrels Grin

ThursdayLast · 15/11/2014 17:06

Melanie that sounds like my kind of training Grin

My time was 28 dead.

The RDs talk was v quiet (also lots of v excited Cani-cross dogs) so I was chatting when he said GO! Therefore I was also stabbing frantically at my phone to start runkeeper, trying not to trip, pegging it down the hill!

MelanieCheeks · 15/11/2014 19:03

Thursday, I do a bit of canicross myself, so I'm always interested in doggies running!

Minerva von Thunder (Mini), my cocker spaniel, has been with me for over 50 of my 64 parkruns, has been with me for every PB, and her black and tan unusual markings always attract attention!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 15/11/2014 19:11

I like your training plan Melanie Grin

No parkrun for me today, boring tutorial this morning and a foggy rugby match for DS1 this afternoon - you could barely see the width of the pitch.

I dida spot of tourism this morning, making 10 locations now!! I was pleased with my time, but the clear sky blackened over and at about 9.25 the rain came Sad I wanted to do a bit more after as I'd already done 4 miles, but the rain put me off !!

MelanieCheeks · 16/11/2014 12:12

This week I am aiming to do some core work every day - 2 sets of 20 each press ups and squats, and some hula hooping.

feetheart · 16/11/2014 12:44

Melanie - I went to a hula hoop workshop yesterday! Learnt a few new moves (not hard as I could only do it round my tummy before) and didn't take anyone out although that was more by luck :) DD has a nice hula hooping war wound on her nose to take into school tomorrow and, of course, DS outshone us all no idea where he gets his coordination from Confused
I like your diet and exercise regime - will build on that this week :)

Grey parkrun tourism for us but, thankfully, no rain. DS actually struggled a bit as I think he was tired so I managed to keep up with him. We still got under 29 so a PB for the course.

cinnamongreyhound · 16/11/2014 17:02

This is my new canicross clubs logo MelanieCheeks :) it's nice to have a different aspect to running.

I like that, Cinnamon! We've had 2 "Waggy Races" in Norn Irn this year, both in beautiful woodland surroundings. There's a Christmas Special lined up for December on the beach, which I'm gutted to be missing. But I'm in Disneyland Paris that day, and you can't do everything!

Parkrun goals for 2015:

Earn 100 T shirt
Run all 19 NI runs (have done 9 so far)
Break 25 mins.

cinnamongreyhound · 16/11/2014 20:01

I'm soon a 10k at end of nov, as my club members say its a people race but allows dogs rather than a canicross race Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 19/11/2014 22:23

Seems my chat may have worked, filled volunteers easily this week! Wonder how long it will last?!?

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 21/11/2014 10:27

Hooray cinnamon - hope it continues!

I will probably be at home tomorrow.

Excellent Cinnamon, that must be a relief (just keep Blathers ideas up your sleeve :))

SA for us tomorrow for DS's 10th one - he was planning how soon he could get his t-shirt on the way home from his first parkrun in the summer :)
I have a feeling that he will be planning his 50 on the way home tomorrow!

karatekimmi · 22/11/2014 06:38

I'm hoping for a dry morning as mini kimmi has a cold and I don't want him to get wet, so it'll be no parkrun for me Sad The iPhone says dry though.

ThursdayLast · 22/11/2014 08:01

Mini Thurs woke the whole bloody house before 6am with a tantrum.
So as the whole bloody house is up, the whole bloody house is off to Lanhydrock

HalleLouja · 22/11/2014 08:08

See you later feet.

feetheart · 22/11/2014 08:10

Thursday - that'll learn him :)

Halle - just about to leave.

ThursdayLast · 22/11/2014 10:46

Well everybody (MiniThurs, MrThurs and ThursdayDog) had a wonderful time Smile
I had an AWFUL time, because my lungs were burning all the way around. But that might, just might mean I was within PB beating range. Fingers crossed!

HalleLouja · 22/11/2014 10:50

Feet hope mini feet is ok. He didn't look his normal self. He did look like he was in need of cake (sorry if I mentioned it) and good news on potential Parkrun.

I enjoyed it today. XC tomorrow so took it easy and even had a chat with some other runners.

feetheart · 22/11/2014 11:24

Thanks Halle - he did struggle today as his ankles were sore - not sure if it is growing pains, running shoes, general tiredness or something else. A bacon butty and a Lego exhibition at the cafe helped a lot :)
At least I can keep up with him when he has a bad run Hmm

Fingers-crossed for PB Thursday

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 22/11/2014 11:26

Slow and steady here - it was really nice to run and chat. It was really humid and quite warm. I wasn't going to bother going, but had a change of heart at 8:30 and raced out of the door. In fact my fastest running all morning was from the car park to the briefing Grin

Glad that the ThursdayFamily had a good time Smile

Did you get out Kimmi?

Congrats to mini-feet on his 10th. Feet do you remember those little boys we met at Bedford? The youngest of the three did his 50th today. Amazing!

Well done all!

I did my 10th different Norn Irn run today at Valley, in the shadow of Cave Hill. Very scenic, on a slight slope, but rather mucky. Still, romped in at 25:10!

This week's training schedule has been - long run, hill run, speed run on alternate days. No booze on Friday night, but a large slab of chocolate cake. Core work every day (2x20 push ups and squats). Light breakfast of buckwheat muesli and greek yoghurt. And I discovered I had put my long sleeved running vest on inside-out, which I believe is lucky too.

Small parkrun, only about 60 there, but they were chatty and friendly. Looking forward to analysing the detailed stats later Smile
