you don't sound whingey! Being in pain is horrible and makes me very grumpy indeed... Hope it starts to ease up but don't push yourself and do too much while it's sore.

CruCru · 22/07/2014 19:16

Thanks Dotty.

Whatsthatnoise · 22/07/2014 19:47

poor you cru see if you can get some naproxen they are the best anti inflammatories ever. Grin
we got some rather unexpected bad news from dds consultant today and looks like we are in for another long stay in hospital probably coinciding with her starting schoolSad . I could cry but I'm at work. Running is on the back burner for a while. Sad Sad

CruCru · 22/07/2014 19:54

Oh bugger Whatsthatnoise, that is bad news, I'm sorry to hear that.

I am still breastfeeding so am quite limited on what I can take. I'll check naproxen out.

CruCru · 22/07/2014 19:56

Damn. Nope, not allowed it.

DottyDot · 22/07/2014 20:18

Oh no whatsthat I'm so sorry Sad. Will you need to stay in the hospital too? Hope your dd is OK and that you're managing too. Don't leave the thread though - it doesn't have to be just for running support - have some Wine and Cake instead.

Whatsthatnoise · 22/07/2014 22:28

she's been diagnosed with sleep apnoea, she had surgery 2 months ago and I genuinely thought it was all better but it's not. I have to stay because she's being fitted with cpap machine so I need to learn how to use the equipment. It's the timing that's making me upset, I'm worried if she misses the first couple of weeks she won't know the routines or make friends and none of her classmates from nursery are going to her school Sad

Sorry for the thread derail, I'll try and get out for the odd run but I'm planning to be running 5k by Christmas now rather than autumn. I have a wonderful children's hospital I would like to raise some money for so I'll be back. Planning to race for them early next year Grin

ChameleonCircuit · 22/07/2014 22:48

Sorry to hear you've had bad news, whatsthatnoise. I hope that your DDs recovery is as quick as possible.

CruCru - can you even take ibuprofen? Better than nothing.

It would appear I lied on my last post. I said we were going to repeat some W4 runs, but we went out tonight and thought Stuff it, and did W5R1. And again, we did it all!! This is the first week that has different runs, so I'm not sure how we'll go on with 8 minutes next time, but I'm feeling quite positive about it.

Just realised the Wine needs to be non-alcoholic for CruCru. Grin

DottyDot · 22/07/2014 22:51

Aww poor thing Sad. But she'll definitely catch up and make friends quickly - ds2's had quite a few people leave/start in his class at different times of the year and it doesn't seem to take long before they're all sorted out! Hope your dd gets sorted out soon and good idea to race to raise money - if you set up a sponsorship page let us know (could even do a run at the same time to raise money - better get through the C25K first though...! Grin)

Keeping positive for my W7R3 run tomorrow, although dp is threatening to pack me off to the GP as my rattly cough doesn't seem to want to leave anytime soon...

DottyDot · 22/07/2014 22:53

Hey Chameleon well done! Grin

flashnorman · 23/07/2014 05:54

Hey everyone! Not been on here for a few days, good to read about all your progress. Dotty, you definitely don't need to feel you've failed, I've completed my full 9 wks, been out doing 5k runs with no probs & then the other day got to 3km & literally felt I could do no more. My body was telling me to stop, the bloody heat was killing me too! As long as you've given it a good go, you are deffo not failing. But I've done what you did plenty of times, started off to fast & struggled then towards the end. Finding my pace in the first 10mins can be the hardest thing.

I've decided I need to do something else on my rest days, cos I was just sitting on my arse! So last night did level one of 30 day shred. I did it a few yrs ago & used to find it so tough, I mean I would feel like I was gonna die after it. Just shows how strong running has made me, I felt like I could have done it all again at the end!! Will try to get out for a run tonight, am really struggling in the heat tho Blush

CruCru · 23/07/2014 08:01

Thanks Chameleon. I can't take ibuprofen but I will have a (small) glass of Wine.

Whatsthatnoise · 23/07/2014 08:05

thanks everyone! feeling a bit more positive this morning.

well done on W5R1 chameleon

good luck for all todays runners have fun! Grin

ChameleonCircuit · 23/07/2014 08:16

Whatsthatnoise - have you asked if there's a chance they could either bring it forward or push it back slightly so she doesn't miss the start of school? I work for consultants and would consider that a valid reason to ask.

Whatsthatnoise · 23/07/2014 10:58

chameleon I asked and the said they would try their best not to interfere with school starting but it depends on ward places and nurse specialists. It'll be our luck that she has to miss the first couple of weeks Sad

DottyDot · 23/07/2014 20:39

Woohoo! W7R3 done! And I made it to the end Grin. Only just though and I had to go at a really steady pace. Had major wobbles at about 20 minutes but kept going. Phew! Feel like I can go to week 8 now and attempt a 28 minute run on Friday....Shock

addictedtosugar · 23/07/2014 21:15

Yeah! Go Dotty
Slow but steady wins the race.

CruCru · 24/07/2014 16:35

Well done Dotty! My neck is starting to feel a bit better. I am hoping that by Sunday I will be able to attempt W3R1. I've spent a sodding fortune on running gear and am all fired up to continue. So far am still icing my neck every couple of hours.

IrianofWay · 25/07/2014 12:24

Hello

hope you don't mind me joinng. This is my 4th time of doing couch to 5k. many years ago I was running 20 miles a week but I lost my oomph somewhere and needed a way to get going again. C25K was brilliant but sadly I never seem to be able to progress back to the distances I was doing before. However it's a good way to keep up the running even in a smaller way.

Have been lc-ing and knowing it would take away my energy for a while I have been going easy on myself and have allowed myself to take longer to get to week 8 than 8 weeks! In fact I have been doing week 8 for 7 runs now - the heat is a killer! Last night I swear I was being overtaken by snails Grin

When I get week 9 done and dusted I will move on to the next ones again where she makes you run faster!!!

LaughingM · 25/07/2014 15:34

Whatsthatnoise hope DD is ok and that they can either shift the op or it isn't too disruptive. I'm sure within a few weeks of being in school mode she'll have forgotten all about missing the first week or so!

Well done Dotty for w7r3. You seem to be flying through the programme!

I finally, finally cracked w6r3 on wednesday and was deliriously happy about it! Tried w7r1 this morning though and it didn't go well. I went at 10am, instead of 9 as I had planned, and it was already boiling. I had to stop and walk up a really huge hill but unfortunately the stop/starting made it much harder to get into a rhythm and I stop/started the rest of the way round. I think I'm going to try again tomorrow, earlier and in the woods where it is much shadier and cooler!

CruCru · 25/07/2014 15:58

Hi IrianofWay! Nice to meet you. I'm hoping to start W3R1 this weekend if my neck is better.

It's a bit of a bugger but it looks as though it's going to carry on being hot this weekend.

DottyDot · 25/07/2014 17:38

Was flying through the programme until the last week or so - and I've decided to take 3 days off as my cough is still hacking and I can't cough and run at the same time..! Dp and I are away for the weekend without kids (Shock) so I'll be doing W8R1 on Sunday.

ooh and I've lost 12lbs now since starting C25K - very pleased Grin

maffive · 26/07/2014 09:51

Hi. I got through w2r3 today, so just wanted to check in for the week. It's great to read all your updates!

Whatsthatnoise - sorry to hear about your dd, fingers crossed that they can get her sorted sooner rather than later.

Your neck sounds painful crucru - is your dh any good at massage?

Dotty - am Envy at your child free weekend! Sounds like you've earned it though Smile

Hello lynnoggs Smile. I'm a newbie too. Hope you've enjoyed your first week! I've never heard of kettlercise - what does that involve?

Has anyone read about this 12 minute exercise thing that Helen Mirren is supposedly into? I was reading about it today. Sounds quite straight forward and was wondering if anyone has tried it? I thought it might fit well in between run days. I've been toying with doing some 30 day shred (did it last year and had good results). The music does my head in though and I'm not sure I can face it Grin.

Anyway, have a good weekend everyone, and try not to melt!

spookyskeleton · 26/07/2014 11:52

Hi, just checking in Smile

Had a busy few days so not been on here much.

I am guessing the start of the summer holidays might make it a bit trickier to get runs in but I am working for the first 4 weeks and my DC are at various holiday clubs so not much difference here Grin

Just done w6r1 with the running group and then went and did 25 minutes hill training Confused was actually good and I felt strong which was surprising as we had a busy day at Alton Towers yesterday so I am tired!! The plan is to do hill training once a week as it is supposed to help with speed and stamina in normal running...we will see!

Have a good weekend everyone Wine Wine

Am up and about to go collect my running partner. I thought it might have cooled off after last night's rain, but in still feel like I'm in a steam room! Going to repeat W5R1 I think, unless we have some OMG I can keep going moment. If I don't post back, you'll find me melted into a puddle on a back road. It's been fun. Grin
