Logging my daily JM fix and getting advice and motivation has been great over the past two months so here is a thread for all those of you who want to do the same again or for the first time. Come on, summer's nearly here and your butt's got Jillian's name on it Smile

Feel tired warm and sweaty but I did it ....is what my previous post was supposed to say!

BetterWithCheese · 07/05/2014 23:08

Well done Fubble! I had a day off today, back on it tomorrow.

ErrolTheDragon · 07/05/2014 23:23

I used to have to stop during the oblique twists, rearrange my arms and legs and start again Grin.

Its worth watching a new level through (fast forwarding as apt) to get an idea of the moves. And then don't necessarily try to go at the same pace as them to start with, or pause and rewind a bit if you didn't get the hang of something - I was doing that all the time when I started 6W6P on monday.

Babesh · 08/05/2014 00:07

You let your husband watch dh? I banish mine:) I think I need to do level 2 tomorrow, watched it with my toddler today and it felt twice as long as level 1!

I think it is magic though, worked out my first run was 3km so plan to work up to 5km and carry on. Don't think I would ave run nestle that much without a week of shredding first.

AmeliaToppingLovesShopping · 08/05/2014 08:18

Babesh I have just done L2 D4 and it doesn't feel any longer than level 1 when you are actually doing it. I do however feel a lot more hot and sweaty :)

Well done on the run. That sounds brilliant for the first time.

I'm still following Anita but gradually adding a little of Natalie in places. The first set of plank jacks I did properly but the second set I stepped.

My arms are looking smaller but still have bingo wings!

ThePowerOfMe · 08/05/2014 09:09

L1D4 done!

I make dh join in if he's around. No way is he sitting there to watch and laugh. But seeing as I do it first thing, hes usually in bed.

StuntNun · 08/05/2014 10:03

I couldn't get the hang of 6W6P Errol, I found it really difficult to work out what the girls were doing, especially Bashira's moves which were very complex. I gave up halfway through and just did sit-ups for the rest of the time instead Blush

tabulahrasa · 08/05/2014 10:54

30DsL2D5

I think it goes past quicker than level 1 when you're doing it...I tried double jump ropes for the first time...it may possibly have prompted me to tell DS to call me an ambulance, he's 18 though, so he just looked at me like this Hmm as he went back into the kitchen.

ErrolTheDragon · 08/05/2014 11:10

Did 6W6P L1 today - OK except for the last side planks which I did swapped for the side crunch thing from the shred. Think I've got the hang of it - so long as I can arrange my limbs correctly to begin with (even if that means missing the first rep) it seems to then go ok. Not keen though - will do again tomorrow, take a look at L2 and if I don't like that return to one of the others. I think shred/ripped are better all-round workouts in a shorter time, and I liked NMTZ too.

Babesh · 08/05/2014 11:41

Excellent Amelia - I plan to try l2 tonight, yeah I was pleased with the run as although I have run in the past I haven't for years and years and starting is always awful!!

Gimmesomemore · 08/05/2014 11:47

Well I've done level 1 for 12 days, as DH decided he'd join me after watching some evenings last week. I think listening to Jillian struck a chord and has motivated him.

He is 20 stone and has done 4 days now. I'm due to start level 2 today, but I'm worried how hard I'll find it after level 1.

tabulahrasa · 08/05/2014 11:54

Level 2 is harder, but it's not too hard to do or leaves you sore afterwards, just in a dear god I'm sweaty and breathless! way.

I'm overweight and very unfit to start with and I find it that way anyway...though I do mostly do the modified versions.

AmeliaToppingLovesShopping · 08/05/2014 11:56

It is harder than level 2 but not more harder than level 1 was back at the beginning. I'm now managing to lower myself slightly when doing to walking push ups whereas at the start I just did the walking out part like Anita.

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 08/05/2014 12:49

Hello, can I join you please? I am having another go at restarting the Shred, did L1D1 yesterday (and not feeling too bad today so far!). I did it all once before but ages ago, have tried it again since but usually ended up stopping for some reason or other before getting much past L1.

I NEED to keep it up this time though, quite apart from wanting to lose weight and tone up etc., I also have Ripped in 30 AND the whole Body Revolution set waiting on the shelf for me to try them Shock but I want to get through the Shred again first to build up my fitness a bit before daring to try the new ones! Then if when I manage that I will have a go at RI30 and the others afterwards.

Gimmesomemore · 08/05/2014 12:50

I think my problem is that I've become confident and comfortable with level 1, and I need to bite the bullet and just get on with level 2.

When I think back to how I struggled on days 1 and 2 on level 1, and then compare to day 12, there is a huge difference with my stamina and ability (sadly not the case with my pelvic floor!)

yadahyadah · 08/05/2014 12:51

Rin30 L2D3 done and feeling better already. I found with Shred as well that once I had done day 3 at any level, I was in the zone with having worked out where I could push myself and where I had to hold back a little in order to maintain my form but still work that edge effectively. After yesterday's Ripped I was feeling a bit worried about my ability to commit to sticking with it as it felt so bloody hard but today I am feeling really worked out and really keen to enjoy the rest of this level. Exercise is a head game as well as a body game and I find that is the really challenging thing about it. Keep it up everyone, we are really doing well.

Well done ladies, great to hear you're all still shredding even through the hard bits.....taking of which... i have just done 30DS L2 D1 and bloody hell!!! ha ha i reckon i did about 80% of it, sweating like a pig and gagging for a drink Wine ??? and i must be mad, im off out with DS2 later to join him in his running club.(thats if i can still walk by then) Grin

safetyzone · 08/05/2014 13:53

Newbie here - started on Sunday and 30DS L1D4 last night. Am I the only one who's finding it harder not easier? Maybe I'm just doing the exercises more precisely, but I just find that I'm still sore when I start the next day, and the soreness builds up. The abs are actually not too bad, it's the strength section that I find the hardest.

For everyone else, at what stage do you start seeing a difference in the body? I desperately more definition in the arms!

Lambzig · 08/05/2014 14:25

RI30 L1D5 (have missed a couple of days this week). I love this level, love the skaters and the hops.

I am not sure when to move on to level 2. Jillian calls it a four week programme and also says in the intro that you should have one or two rest days per week, so that would be five or six goes at each level?

From what you say yada, I am dreading L2.

StuntNun · 08/05/2014 18:05

Safety you may find that a rest day or even two makes a huge amount of difference in how well you do. I don't think I saw a big difference in the arms until level 3.

Cocolepew · 08/05/2014 18:33

Could soneone explain what you mean when to talk about copying name? Is there people on it at different levels? If so, who should I follow? Total newbie, not very fit due to Lupus.

StuntNun · 08/05/2014 18:44

Coco on the Shred DVD Natalie (on the left) does the advanced version of the moves and Anita (on the right) does the beginners' version. Sometimes you won't be able to copy Natalie because of your level of fitness or because you have a weak area or injury, in that case you follow Anita's demonstration of the move.

ErrolTheDragon · 08/05/2014 18:59

safety - typically people ache badly for the first 4 days and then it starts to ease off - honestly, you're probably at the worst point. That's muscular aches - if you have joint pain then modify or substitute alternatives, or rest. I think I started seeing changes after about a week.

lambzig - its up to you I think. Both times I've done Ri30 I've done two weeks (ie 10 workout days) per level.

AreYouFeelingLucky · 08/05/2014 20:03

I've just done Ri30 W1D2. Took yesterday as a rest day, because I ached so much!

I can't pause the workout, so I have to do it all in one go. I beat my last effort, though!

Still can't do the hip plank pop things. Just not enough muscle!

GwladysFrightandthePups · 08/05/2014 20:11

Thanks stunt, that's useful.

My shred has come to an abrupt halt today as I've developed mastitis. Feel dreadful. I'm really peed off because I wanted to give this a good go, and now think I'll almost be starting from scratch when I feel better iyswim? (Anyone know when that'll be btw? I've been to the doctor and got antibiotics, when do they start working so I can feel human again?)

I'm also wondering if the shred's contributed to it - either the stress it's put on my body (am I right in thinking you're more prone to it when run down?) or the sports bra I've been wearing - though it didn't feel too tight and isn't underwired. Or am I just talking bollocks? I don't want to be scared to restart when I feel up to it.
