Logging my daily JM fix and getting advice and motivation has been great over the past two months so here is a thread for all those of you who want to do the same again or for the first time. Come on, summer's nearly here and your butt's got Jillian's name on it Smile

Cocolepew · 08/05/2014 20:13

Thanks stunt, I might unwrap it soon Smile

MsIngaFewmarbles · 08/05/2014 20:30

Oh god I have not shredded the last 2 days, am
I going to ache as badly again?

tabulahrasa · 08/05/2014 20:36

I'm always ok after I've had two days off - it was just the initial starting it that crippled me.

Babesh · 08/05/2014 21:48

Gladys Describe how your mastitis presented and will tell you what you should expect roughly. I do mastitis rather too frequently...

Inga I reckon you won't, you will be fine get shredding. Am weirdly enthused by you all feel torn between a font her run and level 2 tonight, that is if the ill toddler lets me.

GwladysFrightandthePups · 08/05/2014 21:59

Babesh - sore boob when I woke up, pain expressing (always express off that one first thing) then aches in my back, legs, neck, arms and head and feeling cold despite loads of layers, blanket and hot water bottle. Boob got more sore with a little discharge. And just general yuckiness. I do feel for you if you have this regularly, this is my first (and hopefully only...) time.

PlantsAndFlowers · 08/05/2014 22:40

I have a question...

Doing the shred. But last time I did it I really hurt my feet and achillies with all the jumping and running on the spot. This always happens when I do anything with any impact.

Since I don't need to loose weight, but just tone up, do you recon I can replace the cardio sections with Pilates moves?

PlantsAndFlowers · 08/05/2014 22:42

Also... Does that woman not know the meaning of the word couple?!! A couple more moves does not mean ten Jillian!

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 08/05/2014 22:50

Hmph. Am not doing very well so far as I failed to do my second day today after getting caught up with stuff (I only had a very narrow window when I had the chance to do it, after DCs were finally in bed and before it got stupidly late!). Still I will have to try and do it tomorrow.

ErrolTheDragon · 08/05/2014 23:00

Plants - presumably you do wear trainers but that still hurts?
I guess you could do pilates moves instead - but cardio isn't just for fat burning ...clue is in the name, it's for cardiovascular fitness. If you're fit (maybe you do something low impact like cycling or swimming) then that's great - but if not then doing short, intense cardio intervals can be very beneficial. So, I'd be inclined to do low impact cardio - the shadow boxing is one; there's one JM does (cant remember which dvd) which is to stand in a running pose (bit of static lunge) while really pumping the arms. Add weights to that sort of thing if you need more intensity.

PlantsAndFlowers · 08/05/2014 23:18

I wear trainers, yes. I do cycle about half an hour a day, so I'm thinking that's my cardio?

I just fear messing with Jillian's formula!

ErrolTheDragon · 08/05/2014 23:28

I think the 'formula' is great if you want to improve fitness and strength and do some fat burning in a short workout - but if you're already fit and not fat, then using it just for the strength (inc. abs) and adding the pilates for even more core work sounds perfectly sensible IMO. You might want to look at No More Trouble Zones as an alternative or to follow.

BetterWithCheese · 08/05/2014 23:32

Plants someone posted a link to low impact cardio alternatives on the April thread so it might be worth having a look back.

30DS L1D10 done. Onto Level 2 tomorrow

Babesh · 08/05/2014 23:40

Gwladys it doesn't sound like you will be out of action for long, a few days should see you ok. Check that you haven't got a bleb, like a blocked pore or spot head on the nipple and if so squeeze out...might be some stringy milk too. Get in the bath or warm your boob and have a good express working out any lumps, stringy milk and pus if there is any.

It is horrid and whilst it could have been your bra the most common cause is a wonky latch (sleepy bad latch/baby with a cold/weaning) it shouldn't have been your exercise. No shred avoiding excuses:) taking lecithin as a supplement helps some women avoid reoccurrence.

Babesh · 08/05/2014 23:41

I agree plants she doesn't know what couple means!

PlantsAndFlowers · 08/05/2014 23:43

Thank you for your answers, I feel reassured. Will check out Aprils thread too.

PlantsAndFlowers · 08/05/2014 23:44

Babesh I'm know! And it's so disheartening - gives me the rage Grin

BetterWithCheese · 08/05/2014 23:54

Plants Here is the link. Hope it's helpful!

PlantsAndFlowers · 09/05/2014 00:40

Thanks!

Babesh · 09/05/2014 00:50

So l2d1done, non of it as bad as it looked other than those squat in front then behind ridiculous thingies...did arms separately and still struggled! Am no great success at standing on one leg but did better than I thought I would so hurrah! Felt the cardio was better and loved the twisty things:)

Still found level 1 got harder after the first few when I learnt to do the moves properly...

Gimmesomemore · 09/05/2014 07:45

I did it! Level 2 d1, last evening.

I've never sweated so much. I found my stomach muscles were burning, which they wasn't so much with level 1. Although I've had three large babies and a huge abdominal hernia mesh, so my stomach muscles have been struggling to come out of hibernation.

Dh was supposed to do day 5 of level 1 this morning. But couldn't get out of bed. He was really disappointed with himself.

Gimmesomemore · 09/05/2014 07:47

Babesh, did you follow the modified versions?

AmeliaToppingLovesShopping · 09/05/2014 08:14

L2 D5 done. Some things are a bit easier but some of it is still hard, even doing the modified versions Blush

I think I'm going to do the shred again after finishing level 3 and hopefully I will be able to follow Natalie. When I can follow her for everything I might try ripped.

Gimmesomemore I do the shred in the morning before I school run and find I can get up a lot easier if I don't snooze and just get up. Otherwise I don't get up until 8 and have to leave the house at half past!

Lambzig · 09/05/2014 08:53

I have just been reading about JMs latest 'shred it with weights'. Apparently it uses kettlebells. Will definitely get that when I have done RI30.

Fed up with myself for missing two days this week as I have just realised our trip to the inlaws this weekend will mean I miss Saturday and Sunday. I will do L1D6 when DS goes for a nap in a minute.

Babesh · 09/05/2014 09:27

I varied Gimme-the forward backwards lunges were a complete mess, I can't keep straight legs for walk out press ups but and didn't go very deep into the press up. Could do the rest on a sliding scale between non modified to modified as I got tired. Need to practise those lunges today. Think I need some indoor trainers to as bare feet and big rug made the skater moves too much of a big slide!

Babesh · 09/05/2014 09:28

Lambzig you coukd shred with the in laws- there is the video we are all waiting for:)
