Logging my daily JM fix and getting advice and motivation has been great over the past two months so here is a thread for all those of you who want to do the same again or for the first time. Come on, summer's nearly here and your butt's got Jillian's name on it Smile

I've quite smoking but finding my clothes are getting a bit tight.

Be honest, if I get the DVD, will it kill me?

Lambzig · 14/05/2014 15:18

No it wont kill you.

I am 47 and started in April and hadnt exercised for a year (literally nothing except walking). It is hard, but nothing lasts longer than 60 seconds, there are easier options for all the moves and if you just do what you can to start after about day 6 you start to find it easier.

If you just think of it as a chore that you have to do each day like shower, or wash up and its just 20 mins, you can get through it.

I completed 30 days of Shred and am now halfway through Ripped in 30 and have so much more energy, have lost 18 cm of my waist and smile when I catch sight of my arms in the mirror.

Go on, just try it.

AnyaKnowIt · 14/05/2014 16:15

Thank you, I will order it tomorrow

ErrolTheDragon · 14/05/2014 19:21

I'm 53 and started last summer, hasn't killed me yet either. On the contrary... I'm fitter, stronger and generally healthier. If you're gasping, just hit pause, recover, carry on. Do the best you can starting from where you're at and you'll soon improve.

TorianaTollywobbles · 14/05/2014 20:26

Missed yesterday's shred, but done again tonight.

Moving up to L2 tomorrow, wish me luck Grin

PrivateBenjamin · 14/05/2014 21:08

Good Luck Toriana, I hope you like planks! Wink

I did 30ds L2D6 today. I really didn't want to do it but the thought of being fat in my bikini next month pushed me and it was over quickly. I am finding it a bit easier, though still have to follow Anita for a lot of it.

yadahyadah · 14/05/2014 22:20

ditsygal - Ha I too had the added hell of the sliding rug when I first hit level 2 of Shred. Roll it up ASAP - it makes a massive difference all by itself. But to answer your question, I found L2 a bit of a jump from L1 in Shred but like most others have found it falls into place around day 3-4 and you start owning the movements more rather than that flung around feeling you describe. Stick with it because it really gives you a massive thrill to find yourself going 'ho hum, plank jacks again...' In just a few days. Have fun.

I've just bought it and will start tonight. Can I join? I know I'm a bit late! I don't want to lose weight, just get a bit less wobbly.

AmeliaToppingLovesShopping · 15/05/2014 08:06

Just done 30DS L2 D9

Need to push myself to do some of the more advanced moves, still very sweaty at the end though!

yadahyadah · 15/05/2014 11:05

Ri30 L2D7 done. Abstastic

AnyaKnowIt · 15/05/2014 11:24

Just ordered my copy

TorianaTollywobbles · 15/05/2014 19:57

Haven't managed to start L2 tonight. DH unexpectedly off work and ruined my routine!

However, we have been to the park and run around playing rounders and frisbee with dd, then I ran/fast walked back home. So not all bad.

L2 starts on Saturday after dh's birthday evening tomorrow.

tabulahrasa · 15/05/2014 20:02

30DSL2D9...I had to do it at the wrong time after missing two days because I just couldn't fit it in and I'm all Angry

People should stop wanting me to do stuff, like you know, parent my children and what have you when I need to shred, lol.

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 15/05/2014 21:13

It won't kill you! But it has made my knees protest a bit, so am going to give it a few more days before I try again... DD making me go swimming with her yesterday didn't help either (note to self: do not do breaststroke with poorly knees). Still, they seem a bit better today already so fingers crossed...

BetterWithCheese · 15/05/2014 22:12

30DS L2D5 done, it felt a bit better today but I still was sweating loads. I had an unintentional break as my laptop restarted itself in the middle of my workout, I have to admit I got a bit sweary Blush, even though a break sounds nice I just wanted it over with. Sorry I can't remember who said it but I also creep out of the plank on some of the moves and head towards downward facing dog. I'm working on it though.

AnyaKnowIt · 15/05/2014 22:14

Its been dispatched, but why do I feel nervous?

tabulahrasa · 15/05/2014 23:23

Lol, don't be nervous, honestly it'll be fine...level ones on YouTube if you want a preview.

It's all fairly straightforward and it's not killed me yet.

I almost did a press up today Grin

Babesh · 15/05/2014 23:41

Hmmm not shredded for a week, ahem. Still clambering up onto the wagon and ready for tomorrow. Have more weights and trainers so roll on tomorrow...

AmeliaToppingLovesShopping · 16/05/2014 08:29

I didn't do day 9 yesterday it was day 10!

Day 11 done today, still very sweaty but I don't think I'm doing the last abs exercise properly. I find it hard but it don't feel anything on my abs. Either I'm doing it wrong or my muscles are too covered in a layer of fat!

Anya you will be fine. I actually much prefer the shred DVD to the others I have got.

BetterWithCheese my DDs accidently pressed the rewind button on the remote a couple of weeks ago then when I tried to fix it the DVD went back to the beginning, I was not impressed!

babesh I think the starting is the worst part. Once you are back doing it again it will be a lot easier.

tabulahrasa · 16/05/2014 11:41

30DSL2D10...that means I finally start level 3 tomorrow Shock

"I find it hard but it don't feel anything on my abs." I find I feel it the second I stop rather than during it, during it it's my arms and legs that I'm bothered about.

For those of you with sliding rugs - I find weighing it down helps...

May 30 Day Shred - come one, come all
Lambzig · 16/05/2014 12:43

Very, very cute dog.

RI30 L2D3 done. I took two days off because the first I had to leave for work at 5am and not back until 8 (excuses excuses, but it was a long day). Yesterday because I felt so tired and achey, I thought it would be a good idea. Big mistake, this morning was so hard, I pretty much limped through it and my arms collapsed when trying to do the elbow to knee push up thingys, pathetic.

BetterWithCheese · 16/05/2014 14:03

L2D6 done. Very hard today as I'm still not very fit and it's so hot. I was seeing spots during last cardio session. Day off tomorrow

Good luck with level 3 tabulah, I previewed it yesterday and it looks a bit intense.

tabulahrasa · 16/05/2014 16:00

It does...I'll report back if I survive, lol

yadahyadah · 16/05/2014 16:18

Rin30 L2D8. Very pleased with myself and my kids for letting me do it first thing in the morning all week while they have breakfast. DS (5) came in to watch this morning and said he didn't like the shouting woman and the 'man woman' but liked the smiling one with the boobs like mummy's...hmmm I really worry about raising a good son when he says things like that. Today I wore a dress I last wore about 20 days ago - post Shred but pre Ripped and it is clearly looser - even around the dreaded bagel belly. And on that note, a very happy weekend to you all.

OP posts:
ErrolTheDragon · 16/05/2014 16:25

Grin at 'the shouting woman'. Not sure any of the Ripped crew (nor any of JM's 'best girls' look like 'men-women' though.

Well done everyone. I did 4 days of 6W6P this week (we went for a decent walk wed instead) - kind of liking it by the end but still prefer any of the others. I think a week of NMTZ next week before the hols.
