Mumsnet at the Marathon

AmyMumsnet · 11/04/2014 12:07

Don't worry folks, we haven't suddenly turned into superwomen and made a last-minute entry into the London Marathon.

We will, however, be there on the day to show our support for the largest single annual fundraising event in the world - and the people that have put in months of training to take part and raise money for a good cause.

We'll be providing live coverage from the Marathon on our Twitter page @mumsnettowers.

Let us know who you're supporting and which charity they're running for (or indeed if you're participating!) and we'll give them a shout-out on our Twitter feed during the big day.

I'll be there supporting MrAmyMumsnet who is running to raise money for Target Ovarian Cancer. Do come and say hello if we cross paths.

Best of luck to you all!

I'm running next year for Leonard Cheshire Disability but looking out for Amy who is running for them this year

Fabulous. Would you please give my mum a mention - she'll be setting off on the marathon at 10am on Sunday. It's Lynda Aldridge, and it'll be her first ever marathon at the age of 64. She's running for Pilgrim's Hospice in Kent, in memory of her identical twin sister Sue who died of breast cancer. Mum had breast cancer at the same time, but survived. Thank you.

curiousgeorgie · 11/04/2014 12:58

My best friend Carina is running for the Marsden as they've been treating her mums terminal cancer and have been amazing.

MyNameIsJane · 11/04/2014 16:16

My husband is Lee Haslett and he is raising money for XLP Research Trust - to fund research into a condition which my friend lost two of her sons to.

We're very proud. He's only been in serious training since December!

MyNameIsJane · 11/04/2014 16:18

Good luck to all those who are running and I wish you the fastest of times and an absence of pain!

SweetestThing · 11/04/2014 16:59

If any Mumsnetters want to come to the Runners World cheer point at Mile 17 (Mudchute), the champagne corks will be popping from 10.30 onwards :)

I can vouch for the restorative powers of a glass of fizzy at Mile 17 - the remaining 9.2 miles will fly by - so no matter what side of the barrier you are, it's highly recommended!

My boss is running for the Lighthouse Club, a construction industry charity supporting those in the construction industry who have been injured or become ill and cannot work.

stella69x · 11/04/2014 17:03

Forgot to say his name is Greg Clark.

Mitchy1nge · 11/04/2014 18:32

my new garmin is running it on a friend's wrist, not for charity

hope he doesn't fall over and break it Confused

My brother, Andy Jenn, whose wife is a Mumsnetter. Running it to raise money for Mind, and in memory of his dear friend Darrim who sadly took his own life several years ago.

Andy doesn't have a history of long distance running. He is an ex rugby boy and carries the injuries to prove it. He runs his own business and has three young children, so fitting in the hours to run has been tough.

He was devastated by the loss of the lovely Dar, and hopefully the money he has raised, £2k+, will help others avoid the same pain. Even just a little bit helps. Wine

I am running for Target Ovarian Cancer in number 22868. I am wearing my light blue club vest (not the purple target one) as I got a place through my club. My aim is 3:45.

I will be at mile 17 to support my cousin Ian Evans who is running for the National Deaf Children's Society. We are all very proud of him and I know he is excited and nervous!

Good luck to all the runners!

CMOTDibbler · 11/04/2014 22:08

Good luck to all those running. The VLM always makes me think of my friends brother who was diagnosed with terminal cancer just 4 days after running it, defying the odds to hang on for another 18 months.

abitofanangrybird · 11/04/2014 22:55

To the wonderful Mumsnetter who has a name starting with K - I just wanted to say thank you for your kindness and to let you know that my mum is really touched at the gesture ??

Sirzy · 12/04/2014 06:55
