not shredded today... I know I still have time but it's gin night. I'll write today off as a rest day. means I'll have to shred on a Sunday though aagghh.
had another cake today grr. need to kick the cake addiction I did so well last week.

I'm starting to feel a lot stronger there were moves at baby yoga today that I managed that I hadn't before

Lindt70Percent · 13/03/2014 21:28

It's interesting hearing how the rest of you are fitting your exercise in.

My children are now both over 10 and I work from home so I've been putting the exercise in during my lunch breaks.

I remember first trying 6W6P during the school holidays a few years ago but the kids were younger and insisted on joining in with me. I was following the DVD in the living room, which isn't really big enough for me on my own, and it was just all too difficult with them around.

These days it's all much easier. The kids prefer to entertain themselves. I managed to keep going over the last half term. I now work out in our bedroom which is more private and has more room than the living room. DD tried joining in one time and was quite good company and also found it quite challenging which was gratifying! DS walked in once and looked disgusted (and embarrassed) and said, "Muuummm!". He won't make that mistake again.

It must be so much harder with pre-school children and / or you have work outside of the home.

30DS L3 D5

Killed me!

I have to work out at night - sometimes not till 930. I work and by the time I get my young DCs down its that late. Must be great to do it earlier. I think that's why 20 minutes works for me.

Just watching BFBM - I don't like girls in as much! Anyone tried it?

spinningirl10 · 14/03/2014 07:31

Ri30 D22 L4 doneGrin

ErrolTheDragon · 14/03/2014 08:02

I've got the easiest scheduling of all - DD is at secondary so we're up and out by 7:30 to get her to the bus-stop, and I work part-time from home. So I MN a bit check emails, get my computer updating/compiling, shred, bit of extra stuff interspersed with housework, bathe, brekkie. DH also works from home but knows better than to come into the living room when I'm shredding - and I have the weekends as rest days.

GandTnow · 14/03/2014 09:13

level 2 day 4 done, totally done in today. Sweated my way through all of it but feeling stronger and starting to enjoy the strechy muscle feeling afterwards.

I have to get up early to do this, about 6.30. I make myself think this will all be over by 7! Have a 2 yo DD and I know she would love to join in - def not an option!
Thinking I might try doing some yoga or pilates to see if I can get a bit more flexible, those walking push ups leave me flumouxed Confused

Good to see so many people still keeping going Grin

Mamma.....I'm liking the idea of gin night!! I love cake, it's my weakness and I used to make lots of cake but now I tend to make things for the kids and not carrot cake.....which I end up eating 90% of!! If I want cake now I go to a coffee shop where I can just have a sliceGrin

I also to prefer to exercise first thing. I'm really busy this week so I've been up at 5.30 to do it but next week is back to my normal slot of 6.30! I usually go to the gym mid afternoon if work allows and before school run.

ErrolTheDragon · 14/03/2014 10:31

Ri30 L1D10 done at last. L2 next week, not sure how many days I'll do on that yet. The music in Ripped is really grating, I wish there was an audio option for instructions but no music.

2tiredtocare · 14/03/2014 15:32

Right put extra effort in today and 30DS L3 D6 and 6w6p L1 D11 done Smile yay

LakeFlyPie · 14/03/2014 20:19

Ri30 L1 D3 done.
2 JM sessions in 1 sitting Shock
And serious respect to all the early risers who Shred with the lark; 0530 spinninggirl, that's the middle of the night.
ohhdaddypig I like Ri30 (can only speak for level 1) because the circuits are shorter so there's greater variety of moves which gives it a faster pace. I also think it's less strain on my pelvic floor, was never keen on star jump / jump rope combo in that respect.

GeorginaWorsley · 14/03/2014 20:23

Went back to L1 today just for a change.
I just want to do 20 mins of exercise,so will keep mixing up the levels I think.
Seems to be working, with plenty of walking and using MFP I've lost 4 kg since Xmas.

Crazyhours · 14/03/2014 20:27

30DS L2D3 done!

Have had a couple of days off due to a work jolly commitment. Definitely wasn't motivation to get back into it today but saw that GandT had done day 4 and this motivated me to do it tonight as I don't want to fall too far behind Grin Found it a bit of a struggle though, perhaps the lack of sleep and eating too much booze over the past couple of days are to blame.

I have a 3.5 year old and 20 month and I work 3 days a week (have to get up at 6am). Work days are hard to fit it in - a couple of times I've done it when the youngest has been up at 5:30am and he's just sat and watched me bewildered. If only I had the energy to get up then every work day! Non-work days if DH is working I do it when he gets home, usually during the kids bath time. Weekends I do it whenever. I'd prefer to do it first thing every day if I could but I struggle to get up even earlier!

ErrolTheDragon · 14/03/2014 20:29

lakefly - I thought the only difference time-wise with ripped was that the strength is 3 different moves for 30 secs x2 whereas shred is 30 secs/1min. I prefer that too, I can do the anterior raises with a slightly bigger weight for 30 secs versus a full minute! But if you watch the clock some of the cardio intervals are longer - the second time of that 'running man' (which anyone of my age would call 'spotty dog walk') is way over 30 secs.

ErrolTheDragon · 14/03/2014 20:30

Huge respect to those of you who manage to do it with small kids and/or working not at home.

NotGoodNotBad · 14/03/2014 20:43

Errol, once you've done a level 2 or 3 times to get the hang of it try just switching the audio off and using your own music. Works for me.

ErrolTheDragon · 14/03/2014 21:18

I've done them all before but still need JM bossing me - esp IIRC I will do in the next levels of ripped where the positions aren't all very compatible with keeping an eye on the screen!

I'm not sure I've anything with an appropriate tempo anyway.

LakeFlyPie · 14/03/2014 21:24

You're right about the cardio Errol, maybe I'm getting fitter!
The running man move is a bit of a weird one, it feels like a move my 5 year old would do for comedic effect.
Agree about the music, never thought I'd miss the 30DS muzak.

I work 3 days/ week and have 2 DC (3+5), DP usually does bathtime so that's become my JM slot, if DC escape from the bath before I've finished they do come and join in which isn't terribly helpful, but can be very cute.
DS2 ran in naked this evening, forced out 4 loud and extremely malodorous farts and ran out again.
Not what I needed whilst trying to do deep breathing to control my JM induced breathlessness Hmm

oohdaddypig · 14/03/2014 23:21

Hang on - some of you do this with a 20 month old watching,

My littlest one would try to join in and grab weights and become destructive! Where have I gone wrong?! :)

I've been out for cocktails tonight so the only thing I have shredded is my wallet :)

MissSmiley · 14/03/2014 23:34

I have a problem. Did first ever 30 shred thurs am. I'm still in agony when I walk. Even sitting on the loo is painful. I'm in the middle of couch to 5k and I had to miss running today.

So how do people do this every day? And if I work through the pain when will it stop????

I loved the actual exercises just had no idea I would end up like this.

LakeFlyPie · 15/03/2014 00:00

Keep going misssmiley I found sitting on loo agony for 2, maybe 3 days, by D5 I was almost ache-free.
IME the more you move the less the seizing up related pain.

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 15/03/2014 00:20

Completed L1D10 today, hurrah Smile

I even managed to do 2 proper press ups before collapsing and reverting to the modified ones.

L1 took much longer than I wanted overall - I had to have a few days break as my knees were so bad I couldn't walk properly down the stairs Shock then I didn't get chance for the following few days as unexpectedly busy.

Interestingly my knees seem to have settled down a bit for having the rest, I thought they would be a nightmare having started up again but they don't seem as bad.

Errol I haven't looked back over the old thread wrt the knee strengthening stuff but I am definitely going to do that over the weekend

I think I need to get some weights, don't laugh - I've been using jars of chicken tonight (they were the heaviest ones in the cupboard) Blush

Level 2 tomorrow....

Lindt70Percent · 15/03/2014 07:27

MissSmiley, the first 4 days were really bad for me. Every time I sat down I winced loudly and going downstairs was painful. On the 4th day I had to take my daughter somewhere and she was worried I was going to embarrass her if we had to sit down Smile but I'd started to feel a bit better that day and after that I felt fine.

I didn't manage to fit a session in yesterday which really annoyed me. Hoping to have a go this afternoon when the house may be quiet. I've been up for 45 minutes now and would have loved to have exercised now but the bedroom is where I work out and DH is still asleep.

MissSmiley · 15/03/2014 09:37

I got back to running again today and feel better. Ran for 25 mins with couch to 5k podcast. Only had to miss one day.

I've ordered the DVD as I've been having technical problems with my Apple TV. I also noticed you can't get level 2 on YouTube. I will try again tomorrow to get tv working otherwise I'll have to wait for disc to arrive.

Nightwish · 15/03/2014 10:28

Ri30 L1D7 done.
That's Level 1 done for me... will try get to Level 2 on Monday as doing KB&T tomorrow.
DS2's naps are getting shorter, he now wakes up on the last circuit every time. Really need to try get up early and do it but will mean getting up at 6am at least. (Already up at 6.30am normally, 5.30am on a Weds).

Hope you all have a good weekend!

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 15/03/2014 10:34

L2D1 done earlier this morning...am now on the exercise bike Smile
