Starting the next thread for all those doing Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred - Level 1, Level 2 or Level 3.
For those having problems with their knees on the higher impact activities here are some suggestions from TalkinPeace:

^The secret is to build up the teeny muscles that support the side of the patella:

LOTS of balancing and yoga

  • stand with feet 6 inches apart, knees slightly bent, lift one foot off the floor, close eyes and see how long you can hold, repeat to other side.
  • stand with feet 6 inches apart, up onto tiptoes with legs straight, close eyes for as long as you can
  • stand on one foot, move the other foot to the front, side, back, side, in smooth semicircles about two inches off the floor - five each way each side before resting.

Alternative to skipping : march on the spot, bringing your knees up as high as you can.
Alternative to running : walk at jogging pace, pumping arms up to ceiling
Alternative to jumping jacks : half jacks, pump arms alternate sides and ceiling.^

L1 D6 done.
Nearly talked myself out of it, and then watched a really inspirational video on YouTube and got my arse in gear.

Has anyone been taking progress photos? I've taken some but I'm not putting my flabby body up if I'm the only one!

Also scales are saying I've dropped 3 or 4lb but I'm going to weigh myself on my parents' electric ones this time next week and go by those.

2tiredtocare · 09/02/2014 21:25

Flock put some on upthread and you can see the progress, I haven't taken any as I just don't seem to have the selfie knack. I don't think I'll ever have 'abs' after the three DC though! I remain hopeful though

TessTackle · 09/02/2014 21:33

2tired those pics of flock are amazing, I'm not quite ready to put some up no progress but I will, maybe after next weeks weigh.

2tiredtocare · 09/02/2014 21:36

I'll try and take some as well then before I go up to L2 and miraculously metamorphosise

TessTackle · 09/02/2014 22:20

I bet you've changed loads 2tired I read somewhere it takes up to 4 weeks for you to notice any change in yourself.

FlockOfTwats · 10/02/2014 00:38

L2 day 4 done.

Really pushed myself and was sweating buckets by the end!

FlockOfTwats · 10/02/2014 00:44

And thankyou for the lovely comments :)

2tiredtocare · 10/02/2014 01:09

I have too be fair Tess and i'm pleased but my poor stomach has had a lot of trauma over the last few years so will take a lit of hard work, im willing to try though!

LilyJoAndMe · 10/02/2014 06:44

Ahh thanks again for the birthday wishes. It was really lovely of you.
xxxxxxx

Well done on the progress stories.
And great news on the smaller tum Lake. And omama my weights are 2x 1kg and they're manageable. When I finish L3 I think I'll try and get some heavier ones.

Errol I'm just behind you on L3. D4 for me. Just finished.

Actually , on the knees front mine are getting a lot better. I've been taking things steadily and I get the impression that my knees are getting stronger. :)

My first fat photos were in my undies so sorry I can't join you in a MN photo shoot Tess . Well done on the weightloss- hope the scales were being honest !

Have a good day yall !

Motivating posts OP!

L2D10 done yesterday, aiming to do the first of L3 just before bed.

NotGoodNotBad · 10/02/2014 08:49

Omama, I'd start with 1 kilo weights. I've now moved up to 3kg weights but I find them pretty tough for some of the moves.

Tiredemma · 10/02/2014 08:52

I have 2kg weights now and can really feel the 'heat'!

spinningirl10 · 10/02/2014 09:17

Morning shredders :)

Day 29 & 30...L2&3 done so 30 Day Shred is complete!!!

It was tough doing L2&3 today, more so as I fell down the stairs on my way to shred!! I completed the whole of L2 but didn't do the jumping lunges on L3 as I think I pulled a muscle between my knee and thigh when I fell and it was hurting. Shoulders could feel the burn after all those press ups and plank moves.

If I have time later I'll post total weight and inch loss since the start.
I'm away for a week now so will be back to do either Killer Abs or Buns and Thighs.

Oh and I have 2kg and 4kg weights and I go between the 2.

Keep shredding!!

Logg1e · 10/02/2014 09:20

I have a set of three pairs of weights, 0.5kg, 1kg and 2kg that my partner uses. I can often feel the BURRRRN with the 1kg.

WillColbert · 10/02/2014 09:22

Well done everyone!

L3D5 of Ri30 done.

LeonardoAcropolis · 10/02/2014 10:24

Hello shredders, newbie here!

I am currentlt L2 D3 and really enjoying it but I am having trouble with plank jacks and the last abs exercise, is it called sliding plank? I work out on a carpeted floor and my sweaty mitts just keep sliding about Sad anyone else have this problem? Those moves also kill my shoulders, does it get better?

ErrolTheDragon · 10/02/2014 10:25

L3D6 done, and inclined push-ups (wide arm on sofa base, narrow arms on kitchen table)

Omama, I'd recommend getting two sizes of weights if you can - some moves are much harder than others. 1 or 1.5 kgand 2-3 or so. I've got 4 sets acquired at various times and use them all.

monkeytennismum · 10/02/2014 10:35

L1D7 of Shred done.

Congrats spinningirl have a great break away from us all!

TessTackle · 10/02/2014 10:50

L1 D7 done at last. Had half my bloody morning stolen by one of the chattiest woman alive!

2tiredtocare · 10/02/2014 11:10

L2 D1, sweating profusely and using 2kg weights

ErrolTheDragon · 10/02/2014 11:59

Hello Leonardo - I used to find that, I got a mat and do the planks/press-up type things with my hands/arms on that. Its a bit nicer for doing the other abs things on than the carpet too.

And yes, it does get easier!

LilyJoAndMe · 10/02/2014 12:08

Well done Spinnin. Have a lovely Holiday - hope that you haven't pulled a muscle just before you go though !

Yes Tess - well done for getting on track about time too !

Great going 2tired - Are all your efforts where you got your name from ?

I've also had trouble slipping around the place on a polished floor. I've made a bit more space now so I'll try with a mat then . - Thanks Errol.

LeonardoAcropolis · 10/02/2014 12:18

Thanks Errol Grin I didn't attempt plank jacks today, did star jumps with 0.5k hand weights instead. I attempted the sliding plank on my elbows - not successful Angry I will invest in a mat!

FlockOfTwats · 10/02/2014 15:16

Leo in level two day five today. First two days i really struggled but 3 and 4 were easier. The plank jacks in ok with its the jumping ones i slide around on!
