Starting the next thread for all those doing Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred - Level 1, Level 2 or Level 3.
For those having problems with their knees on the higher impact activities here are some suggestions from TalkinPeace:

^The secret is to build up the teeny muscles that support the side of the patella:

LOTS of balancing and yoga

  • stand with feet 6 inches apart, knees slightly bent, lift one foot off the floor, close eyes and see how long you can hold, repeat to other side.
  • stand with feet 6 inches apart, up onto tiptoes with legs straight, close eyes for as long as you can
  • stand on one foot, move the other foot to the front, side, back, side, in smooth semicircles about two inches off the floor - five each way each side before resting.

Alternative to skipping : march on the spot, bringing your knees up as high as you can.
Alternative to running : walk at jogging pace, pumping arms up to ceiling
Alternative to jumping jacks : half jacks, pump arms alternate sides and ceiling.^

L3D9 finished and I have decided for me that is this round finished because I only did 9 days of L1 and L2.
So I have finished my 27 day shred in 60 days!
I am going to compare measurements in a mo after the baby has finished feeding.

I am going to redo the Shred for now but try mixing in some other DVD's, have found BFBM on youtube and L1 of KB&T on Vimeo so will try them.
Shred I will be uping the weights and using weights on cardio.
I am gonna stay on the thread though because whichever I am doing I need motivation!

Flock I walk 3 miles 4 days a week and 5 miles one day carrying my nearly six month old DS, he is over a stone. Maybe I need to try some lunges with him on too!

LilyJoAndMe · 02/02/2014 12:28

L2 D9
It's true - it does get easier. Smile
And I am really amazed that I can see some of my muscles already making a come back Grin.
Welcome home Little Ones !

An hour in the gym this morning. Feeling motivated today, though everything aches. Just need to nail the diet side of it.
I think I need to schedule in some walking quite Blush by those that walk miles most days.

2tiredtocare · 02/02/2014 13:30

Mrs i'm on day 3 of level one and using baked bean tins as weights too Grin

Nightwish · 02/02/2014 14:50

MsMarc the only reason I walk is for the school run and school run/going to uni!
The OH has the car and I think it is good to teach the DC's you don't need to drive everywhere, especially if it is doable.
DS2 only walks 1.5 miles though which is to and from school, whereas I do that trip twice and on a Tues then to the train station, and pick up from childminder.

So measurements:
The bad: No change in thighs, calves, hips/bum, arms. (I am a pear shape so this doesn't surprise me but it is where I need to lose it.
The sort of bad: 2 inches lost on my over-chest.
The good: 1 inch lost under-chest, 2 inches lost on natural waist, 2.5 inches lost on tummy.

Considering it took me 60 days I don't think I can complain.
My parents said today I look smaller!
My face looks very different, lost a lot of weight on my cheeks.
Now to carry on and get back into my normal size trousers!
The weight will have to come off my hips and thighs some time.

FlockOfTwats · 02/02/2014 16:57

Day 7 of level one shortly when DP gets hisass off the pc:)

FlockOfTwats · 02/02/2014 18:18

Day 7 done.

Definitely a marked improvement from day 1. I can do all the moves at natalies level except the pushups, i thought i was getting better because i managed five yesterday but today didn't even get two and i really tried. Its not through lack of strength either - i can physically carry quite heavy things (big full water buckets, large western saddles etc).

I fall over trying to do them, and i always fall to the right - which is the side i broke in two places and damaged the muscles and nerves in an accident. I'm thinking this might be something id be better leaving alone? I did two thirty second planks instead today do you think this is ok?

If i don't struggle with anything else tomorrow i might move up to level two. I'm starting running again tomorrow so will still get a good amount of cardio. What do you think?

Tiredemma · 02/02/2014 18:18

My body has changed shape. wahey!!!

FlockOfTwats · 02/02/2014 18:22

Oh and baby got used as weight again. He woke up halfway through lol. He seemed to enjoy it.

spinningirl10 · 02/02/2014 19:37

Tiredmama....well done, it's great when you start seeing changes!!

Flock.....planks are a great exercise so I think that's a fair swap! I think we all have something we find hard and if you have an old injury that's why you could be struggling with them.

LakeFlyPie · 02/02/2014 20:20

D1 L3 done, took me a while to get the hang of some of the moves but I like the 30 mins of L3 the most of the lot I think.
Sticking with Anita for some of the moves. I did attempt a jumping lunge and felt like my kneecap was going to pop out!

Well done Nightwish on your Shred completion. Think I plan to do a Shred re run (Natalie style) when I get through this one.

This thread certainly helps to keep going on days where you might have otherwise 'phoned it in'.
Keep going everyone Grin

MrsMarcMarquez · 02/02/2014 20:36

Ha 2tired glad I'm not the only one using beans! Though I think I might have to invest in some hand weights sooner or later

FlockOfTwats · 02/02/2014 20:37

Is it good if my legs arent aching at all btw? I could barely walk the first 4 days, better day 5 and theyre not aching at all today? Or do i need to push harder? My leg muscles burn during the workout still and i get hot.

2tiredtocare · 02/02/2014 21:39

I'm penciling in a weight shopping trip this week!

Mumtoh · 03/02/2014 08:21

Done my L2 day 15 this morning before work. Arms are very tired now...

tanukiton · 03/02/2014 08:29

d26 l3 d8?I am kind of liking l3.
I?am up for another DVD soon. I don't really care which one so am more than happy to tag along for the ride if there is one people recommend..
Nightwish congrats!

ErrolTheDragon · 03/02/2014 09:08

Hello all - gosh, two pages in already!

L3D1 done - this time able to do Natalie-style for some of the moves I couldn't on previous rounds - esp the first circuit plank thing and the final side abs raises. Doing some extra planks has made a difference. That said, I just did my extra inclined push-ups today, no extra planks as I felt there was enough in the shred.

Flock - what you describe with your leg aches is normal - bad for the first 4 days or so and then it eases off. Smile

Tanukiton - I'm doing 5:2, I don't eat anything before shredding any day, on NFDs I have breakfast after (sometimes not for quite a while after), FDs I seem to be able to get through to teatime on coffee/tea/miso and water.

Logg1e · 03/02/2014 09:09

L2D5 done. Half way through.

WillColbert · 03/02/2014 09:25

Morning all.

D1L3 of Ri30 done. Bit of a whirlwind to be honest - all moves are new so I spent quite a bit of the time looking like this Confused. I think it will take me a few days to get used to. Even many of the modified moves seem beyond me at the moment.

Congratulations Nightwish on your shred completion!

spinningirl10 · 03/02/2014 09:36

D22 L3 d4 done Grin

I think I will hang around this thread when finished the shred. It helps to keep motivated checking in here daily.

FlockOfTwats · 03/02/2014 15:29

Day 8 level 1 done. With those plank things with the oblique twists instead of push ups today. They are tough! Feeling great though, shower now as i STINK.

FlockOfTwats · 03/02/2014 15:32

I may "treat" you to some day 1 vs day 10 pics on Wednesday Grin just have to figure photobucket out lol

2tiredtocare · 03/02/2014 15:36

That'd be nice Flock Smile

spinningirl10 · 03/02/2014 15:43

Oooh yes Flock that would be good! Not sure i'm brave enough to share my photos!!

2tiredtocare · 03/02/2014 15:56

I wish i'd taken some, only day 4 though so still could
