Right, lets find all the park runners we have on here. I did my first park run on sat.

I am very impressed with my time of 33.18 :) I am ridiculously pleased with myself.

So park runners, where are you?

woundbobbin · 07/09/2013 22:09

Think I'm going to have to go to bed before I get my email. Hmm might be for the best as it was a slowun today.
Well done everyone esp those with pb's
(Ps is that true dd is 11mths)

Imwoodword · 08/09/2013 00:01

I haven't had an email (or a tx - hiwmd I sign up for that?,) but checked my local page and times were up - 27.39, new PB. Very chuffed with myself as I didn't feel that great whilst running and was sure I'd messed it up by pacing myself wrong!

Well done to everyone who ran.

IsThatTrue · 08/09/2013 04:42

Imwoodward well done on your time. I think you can sign up for texts in your parkrun profile.

I didn't get an email yet either but I did get my text and our local page was up with the results.

No email but checked on the website and apparently I went 28.40 can't quite believe that

IsThatTrue · 08/09/2013 08:48

wound that's an amazing time with the pram well done! My DS is 9mo (today eeek) and I know it's hard with the buggy. I have a maxi cozi with real tyres but not a proper running buggy. I'd love a BOB!

OP posts:
wem · 08/09/2013 09:07

I did 34.33, over 2 minutes off last week's time Grin. DH is now expecting me to take 2 minutes off each time I go and get sub 30 minutes in three runs' time...

woundbobbin · 08/09/2013 09:09

I think it's because the race I did yesterday is flat Tarmac all the way round whereas the one I usually do is off road and has slopes (couldn't really call them hills) still I will take that time!
I got a babytrend running buggy for £50 on gumtree it's brilliant best £50 I've ever spent. Grin

woundbobbin · 08/09/2013 09:09

Well done wem that is a brilliant time! Grin

muddyprints · 08/09/2013 09:30

I did 31.42 for my first parkrun, really pleased!!! I nearly stopped I was so tired but glad I did it now. Smile

Lizzylou · 08/09/2013 09:39

30:26, which is a new pb, but still not under 30mins! aaargh!
Wound, that is an amazing time with a buggy!
Well done Wem.0 Grin

Lizzylou · 08/09/2013 09:39

Mudfy, that is fab, well done!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 08/09/2013 09:55

Wow, some really good times/improvements this week! Lizzy, you will get there. Just keep shaving a few seconds off each week, or do a wem, and take a whole 2 minutes off in one go Grin.

Wound and muddy - fantastic times. Well done for keeping going muddy, now you have had a go and you know the course you can get faster. Wound, take the result whatever the course!

Wooword, nightsky and IsThat - well done on your PBs

newrowsees - super fast, well done.

Blathers - I will be thinking of you this morning - I'm running 10 miles today. Just having another coffee before I go. My legs are quite stiff this morning, I think from standing up for a couple of hours watching DS1's rugby match and a fair bit if jumping up and down with excitement when they scored

Newrowsees · 08/09/2013 12:17

Muddyprints that's brilliant! Keep going, you'll probably improve even more from here onwards...

Blatherskite · 08/09/2013 12:53

My 11 mile run went a little bit over today! We were at 12.95 when we got back so I did a lap of the car park to make it up to a half marathon Grin

13.17 miles in 2:13:34!!

There was a sodding great almost vertical hill at 9 miles so I am especially proud of myself. The elevation gain on my Garmin shows 172 meters Shock

My previous longest run was 9 miles so it was a bit of a leap but I'm very glad I did it :)

Lizzylou · 08/09/2013 13:08

13 miles? Blathers you rock!
I was talking with Dh today, he started doing sprint triathlons this year and is loving running. I realised I really don't like running, I don't enjoy it at all. I used to, when I did a 10km a few years ago. I just really want to get better and get under 30mins.

BIWI · 08/09/2013 13:11

That's fantastic, Blathers! What an achievement.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 08/09/2013 13:30

Blathers that is FANTASTIC! Well done

My 10 miles turned out to be 11. I'm slightly kicking myself - my plan said 10K race or 10 mile run. My local running club was advertising a 10K at parkrun a few weeks ago, but for some reason I wrongly assumed it was laps of the track at the athletics club - so didn't sign up. It turned out that it was along the cycle track where I run all the time. If I'd researched the route properly I'd have done the 10K instead. I saw quite a few parkrunners coming towards me on the 10K (the finish was as I was on my way out).

wem · 08/09/2013 14:26

That's amazing Blatherskite. I love that you aimed for one thing, went two miles over by mistake, then decided just to keep going to make an even bigger milestone. Good work! Grin

Blatherskite · 08/09/2013 14:35

Well I wasn't stopping at 12.95 miles!! Grin

Thanks everyone

IsThatTrue · 08/09/2013 20:18

wem well done! Great time.

muddy well done, parkrun can become quite addictive though :)

lizzy there's always next week with parkrun Wink

blathers 13 miles Shock you are amazing! Well done!

And you ohone your training sounds like its going great.

I need to decide if I'm park running this week. As I have a 10k race on Sunday morning. I should rest but I just think of it as having wasted an opportunity to get 1 step closer to a t-shirt Grin what do you lot think?

OP posts:
OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 08/09/2013 20:21

Do it! Do it! Do it! Grin

I am parkrunning every Saturday, and long running on Sundays.

Seriously, I don't see why you shouldn't, although it might be that you don't PB at PR, because you'll be holding something back for the 10K, and then don't do your best ever 10K because you're a bit tired from PR.

Blatherskite · 08/09/2013 20:24

I'm not sure I'm the best person to ask Wink

Bakingnovice · 08/09/2013 20:24

Did my third park run. Managed it in 41.22. Shaved 20 secs off my last time. It's getting harder. I can't seem to pace myself and end up going too fast at the start and then having to walk after 2k. It's all them blimmin super sprinters at the start, and the adrenaline. The kids are living it and are both sub 30. Grrrrr.

IsThatTrue · 09/09/2013 08:16

Well done baking when I ran a few years ago I never got under 40 minutes for a 5k. Looking back now I can see it was to do with my pacing too. Do you have any technology with you when you run? I have an app on my iPhone which tells me distance/time/average speed on splits (each mile). I'm hoping to get a garmin watch for Xmas so I can dump the phone and the garmin gives you your current pace distant speed at a glance. Maybe you'd find it helpful to try and regulate your pace?

ohone and blathers I really should just go for it shouldn't I? I won't push hard on the parkrun, just take it nice and easy, I was aching this Sunday after my sub 30, I don't want to feel like that for my race.

Newrowsees · 09/09/2013 08:30

Re. tech, I discovered a GPS app I love a couple of weeks ago - Runkeeper. There are a few different ones that do a similar job, but I really like the fact that it gives audio cues for pacing (tells you how far off your target pace you are), and has amazing charts for data junkies like me - split times, pace, elevation, maps etc. I'd highly recommend it.

It also integrates with myfitnesspal to add my calorie burn to my diary for the day - genius! (I want to lose about 5 pounds or so)

I was thinking of getting a Garmin watch but reckon I can save myself the expense now Grin
