LET'S FUCKING DO IT....!

OP posts:
monkeyLFDTwench · 25/11/2011 22:01

Rhet only about 20 a week now, was up to 35-40 during marathon training, but I've tried to replace some of the mileage with speed/hills and strength work. I actually feel stronger doing the shredding and enjoy it, but ultimately I'm going to have to cut calories to shift the weight. I bloody hate being overweight, but counting calories is such a bore.

I don't have a bad diet, it's all good quality stuff and I don't eat junk - but I just eat too much Angry.

rhetorician · 25/11/2011 22:08

I hate calorie counting too, it messes with my head...but I do need to lose about 10lbs to get to a proper running weight -

stickyLFDTfingers · 25/11/2011 22:12

for me it has to be portion control. Absolutely can't be doing with counting things out. Not that I'm brilliant at it, mind you.

But I'm also one to put on weight around the waist, and given my Dad's had numerous heart attacks, I don't think I can just ignore the risk.

Hatwoman · 25/11/2011 22:14

re rhet's runner check list:

  • lots of them have red hair or red haired children - tick
- lots of them have girl children - tick - they all have a social conscience - tick - they are not scared of speaking their minds especially to random strangers up to no good - tick - they are generally averse to ironing and most housework (fanny you are just a freak) - tick
sfxmum · 25/11/2011 22:15

I can't really share all my issues with food. my risk of diabetes is really high. Recently I was at the doctor and he asked how was my appetite, as if that ever got anything to do with it

anyway sticky that is me that is zeitgeist woman HmmGrin

rhetorician · 25/11/2011 22:16

hatwoman you have won! full house!

I am fortunate that I don't put weight on around middle, but father died of heart attack at 45, so am highly conscious of the dangers

bonkersLFDT20 · 25/11/2011 22:29

[completely random] Watching EastEnders and wondering how old the actress who plays Tanya is. She has a fair few wrinkles on her forehead. So, I looked her up and she is eight years YOUNGER than I am. Ha!

Running then. DH working tomorrow so hoping he will take DS to rugby training on Sunday so I can go then. I haven't even tried my new runners out yet.

Peach I hope you get some zzzzzz tonight. I think it's just luck if they get night and day right. Are you co-sleeping? That just about saved my life.

Oh and DH and I met 17 years ago, so we both took next Wednesday off to spend the day together. This would have been our first day together EVER without the children, since we had DS2. Turns our DS1's school will be shut. Our romantic day won't quite be the same with a 12 year old around (lovely as he is) so I'm hoping we can go for Thursday instead.

monkeyLFDTwench · 25/11/2011 22:37

But bonkers David Cameron the shiny faced tit says everyone can take their child to work, so surely he can just tag along? Grin

[vain]

stickyLFDTfingers · 25/11/2011 22:47

LOL at [vain]. The gift that keeps on giving Grin

YeahThatsTheBadger · 25/11/2011 23:06

Oh you lot are lovely and have managed to make me shed a tear. Smile

It feels good to be able to tell someone as no one in rl will know unless all is good. It's a 50% chance so we'll just wait and see.

Oh and I can't count calories. It's just boring! Portion control is my problem. I used to finish dh's dinners but soon copped myself on. Blush I'm better at restraining myself now.

Lots of races this weekend. Good luck racers! Looking forward to reading the race reports.

monkeyLFDTwench · 26/11/2011 08:11

Good luck ravers - happy rubbing!

Wheelybug · 26/11/2011 08:29

Good luck ibby running squix jez and sonic

Jezabelle · 26/11/2011 09:08

Hey DrNo, hope your DN is heading home where she belongs today. I feel quite emotional when I think about how lucky we are with modern medication. My D nephew spent 5 months of his babyhood in Great Ormond Street. But they got him back safe and sound. He would have died without the treatment he received. I am eternaly greatful.

Thanks for the pom poms etc stickyfingers! I'm sort of looking forward to tomorrow. I haven't trained as much as I'd have liked but I'm sort of over that now. I think if I can just run all the way, in whatever time, I'll have achieved something. My injury's not giving much grief now. I'm glad I rested it.

I'll let you all know how it goes tomorrow.

rhetorician · 26/11/2011 09:28

good luck to this weekend's racers ibby (we expect another prize-giving for you!) running, squix, smc (hope the temperatures stay down) and jez

Run like the wind, the lot of you!

runnerstipple · 26/11/2011 09:41

another one sending good luck vibes to all the racers. Can't wait to be inspired by the race reports.

futurity · 26/11/2011 09:52

Good luck to all runner this weekend..hope it stays dry and not too windy.
Just did a proper tempo run (probably a first for me!) 5 miles with 3 at 9min 30 pace. Hated it for first 2 miles as was hard starting slow and then speeding up and then maintaining that pace up a hill with the wind in my face (moan moan). Did it though and relaxed into it and liked it when I had to slow down again Smile

runnerstipple · 26/11/2011 10:02

Well done futurity
I need to get my head round tempo runs.

stickyLFDTfingers · 26/11/2011 10:03

:) futurity well done! I'm with you on the enjoying slowing down again after...

MrsWednesday · 26/11/2011 10:07

Quiet, cautious but very heartfelt congratulations to Badger, fingers crossed.x

Good luck to the racers this weekend - fly like the wind Smile, looking forward to getting inspired and emotional when you post the race reports.

Cherry, dress sounds fab.

Another one wanting to lose weight, I am the heaviest I've ever been despite eating well, cutting back on alcohol and being active. Portion control is a problem for me, and also just always being hungry!

For the runners ticklist:

  • lots of them have red hair or red haired children - no
  • lots of them have girl children - no (two boys)
  • they all have a social conscience - yes
  • they are not scared of speaking their minds especially to random strangers up to no good - no
  • they are generally averse to ironing and most housework - no because I like the house to be clean but yes because I have a cleaner Blush

Oops, low score for me...

Anyway - my running stats from this morning - 8.28miles, ave 10.07 m/m. Will shred tomorrow.

peachLFDTsmuggler · 26/11/2011 10:09

Great stuff futurity, sounds like a really successful run! Is this going to a weekly thing that you are adding to your schedule?

AngeChica · 26/11/2011 10:17

Morning all. thanks for ideas and support! :) Was going to do Newcastle parkrun this morn but have had a rough night after DS spewed everywhere. He is built like a brick shithouse with constitution to match a very robust little boy who is very rarely ill so when he is, it's always a shock to the system. He had been to a tea party on Thurs & obv picked up a bug as the others have it. Better this morn but still lethargic.

Weather still wild here but will go out shortly when DH back with dog.

Hope all runners do well this w/e and the weather isn't too foul for you. Enjoy your first 10k Jezabelle - the thing that freaked me last weekend was the pace everyone started off at, after my own training runs when I take a while to get into my stride - don't feel you have to keep up with that pace & just do your own thing! Ibby dare I mention I am of the blue not yellow persuasion :) but hope it goes well in Naaridge. :)

I have a page www.facebook.com/anges.marathon.effort for any facebookers. You can find me via the page as well obv.

peachLFDTsmuggler · 26/11/2011 10:20

mrsweds, you'll be struck off the thread with a low score like that!!! Wink. Gosh, is everyone shredding??? Well you know what they say, "The thread that shreds together, stays together"!! Smile

Cherry, meant to say the dress sounds lovely and I bet you'll look beautiful. Red petticoats? You saucy thing!!!

Had slightly better night as K slept in evening till midnight so having got into bed earlier I'd had an hour and a half by that time so felt a bit more sane when she was then up till 6am. It wasn't quite the feeding frenzy of the revious night though, as she snoozed a bit more in my lap and on bed between feeding and had lots of napy changes. Had little feed at 7 and now falling asleep during one at 10. She stirred at 8 but went back to sleep with a little cradle rocking and putting on the fan heater. I think she likes the noise so will dig ot DD1's White noise/wave/heartbeat machine later on.

rhetorician · 26/11/2011 10:23

peach ah yes, white noise - the 'most played' track on the ipod in this house is still 'aa hairdryer'...an mp3 made from scratch (hilarity) by a friend of ours

MrsWednesday · 26/11/2011 10:24

Impressive tempo run futurity, should do the same but am worried that my legs are not up to it.

Peach, sounds like she is getting there gradually...how is DD1 coping with it all?

peachLFDTsmuggler · 26/11/2011 10:34

mrsweds, DD1 seems to be coping very well. Having MIL and DP here of course means that she still has lots of attention. DP between contracts just now so hopefully that will ease the transition for DD1, and for me! I am very lucky to have such great support. She likes the four of us to have a big cuddle together, though is slightly wary of K, will cautiously give her a kiss or a stroke, but looks slightly alarmed when she cries. Am going to take her out this afternoon, just to the shops, as will be nice to spend some with her on our own.

Rhet, ah mp3 hairdryer! Much cheaper thank usuing actual one, which we did with DD!
