If you look on the website for the marathon and you know Moshi's real name you can see her position Wink

Pawsnclaws · 17/10/2011 17:30
MoshiMoshi · 17/10/2011 17:46

20th female. There were lots of County Champs runners etc around and plenty in the FV35 category so I didn't even place in the top 5 in my category!

MoshiMoshi · 17/10/2011 17:47

PS No no no sfx! I am not leaving you lot! You are all coming to San Fran with me Grin!

PPS wheely - legs a bit wooden and tight but just had a sports massage (ouch!) to help move things along a bit.

rhetorician · 17/10/2011 17:53

my 10k measured slightly long :)

sfxmum · 17/10/2011 18:03

rhet sorry about the scare, best have it checked do have a Wine
not long now, then all you have to worry about is getting a good night's sleepGrin dimly recall a zombie like first 6wks (sorry not helping) have another Wine

moshi heck that was fast, just think better weather and hill training Shock

I see a few very fast runners regularly, in the moshi category no doubt, they seem to barely touch the ground quite amazing really

will do some running with dh tomorrow, looking forward to it, its been so long

sfxmum · 17/10/2011 18:07

where is the peri menopausal thread? must have a nose, really not looking forward to that although I am quite certain it has started already, apparently the PCOS (bastard syndrome) is likely to lead to earlier than average menopause, the gift that keeps on giving that isHmm

peachsmuggler · 17/10/2011 18:30

Flip Moshi!!! 20th female, that is ace!

Rhet, sorry bout the horrid day. Glad all ok with DP and bambina. Agree with the others, a large Wine for you and a Brew for DP

Master, that is very impressive, especially off the back of a 13 miler!

Your walk/run sounds lovely sfx

where's encyclo?

Pawsnclaws · 17/10/2011 18:31

I got the impression Abingdon is a serious marathon, so am not surprised. I looked at doing Luton (not exactly scenic but close to me), it has a strict 5 hour finish limit. Also it's two laps of the course, can you imagine the humiliation of being lapped?

Will look at that other thread, I either get two periods less than 20 days apart or (this is the latest fun thing my body does) 40 days apart. Bloody marvellous it is (pun intended).

squix · 17/10/2011 18:39

Ohhh rhet glad it's all ok now - must have been scary.

I'll follow to the menopause thread too - Looking back I think it all started for me about 2 years ago and am now at the stage where I get a period about once every 4 months, it's very very light and lasts a few days. It was the horrendous mood swings and hot flushes that made me go to the Dr and a blood test confirmed that it has begun.

moshi - your falling apart speed was my effort pace on the treadmill today Grin

DebiTheScot · 17/10/2011 19:16

Great splits Moshi but I can see how you're a bit disappointed with the last 6 miles. Still a great time tho. Must have been a fast race.

Paws your marathon has probably messed up your cycle a bit.

rhetorician · 17/10/2011 19:37

I was thinking about posting on the peri-menopausal thread too. Jesus, we're a barrel of laughs with our puking and our hormones and our endless chatter about splits and intervals...no wonder we need the haven of our own thread!

Pawsnclaws · 17/10/2011 20:17

Debi you're right, two marathons six months apart hasn't done me any favours!

StrangewaysHereICome · 17/10/2011 20:33

Thanks peach I have just spat tea all over the computer - I hope encyclo will be back soon too, once she has recovered!

rhet sorry you've had a horrid day, have another Wine. That takes me back to last year when I was pg with DS - I just couldn't stop worrying. All you want is to hold the little one in your arms. It is always best to get checked over. You're right about this thread, I don't think anyone else would have us!! Yay for your 10k measuring a bit long Grin

Moshi I am still in awe, your splits are amazing but I can see why you would want to keep your pace up for the whole distance. I am sure you will do it. I managed a fleeting pace of 7.03m/m while flying down the hill, with the wind behind me Wink. How you managed it all with everything else is amazing.

master well done getting out there after your 13 miles. Yes I do like flying down hills, but maybe I need to be more disciplined with my PF exercises Blush.

wheely the whole distance thing is slightly annoying as I do like to know exactly how I have done, but hey ho it was fabulous fun. There is a 10k on a measured flat course in a couple of weeks near here, but I need to check with my long suffering DH first as I already have another cross country race lined up (getting a bit race happy now!!)

The weather here is a bit feisty, I was planning a gentle 6 miler tomorrow but it depends on the weather and my achey bits!

Pawsnclaws · 17/10/2011 20:47

Ah, just got ds3 to bed and settled down all alone to watch Meet Joe Black.

Thank goodness for this thread is all I can say, I can tell from the glazed eyes and stifled yawns that my RL friends definitely don't want to hear my thrilling race reports and updates on blackened toenails. Neither do you lot, but ha!! You don't get a choice!!

DrNortherner · 17/10/2011 20:52

Oh rhet sorry you've had such a bad day Sad Thank God baby is OK, what a scare for you both. Good night sleep for you both and tomorrow is a new day hey?

moshi we are all in absolute awe of your times. I can only dream of a marathon in that time, and 20th is an ace position!

I bailed halfway through a training session tonight. Was doing tricep dips on a bench with the wind howling and rain lashing against my face and no amounts of LFDT could get me through. Shame really cause I needed a good blow out. Been stuck in all day with ill ds, premenstrual, lots on my mind....running club tomorrow will do the trick I hope.

Themasterandmargaritas · 17/10/2011 20:53

Strange, I confess to having had a gush at the end of a Kilimanjaro half marathon as I crossed the line last year. Blush Total humiliation, however slightly more uncomfortable for my friend who then had to sit next to me in the car as we drove 8 hours home, across a border post, without having a wash. BlushGrin

OMG there are so many of us out there with our raging hormones! Phew what a relief.

I don't think I will ever ever be able to run a 7 min mile, down hill or not. Sad Unless the raging hormones take over. 20th? Good lord woman, you are unstoppable.

Peachy I have to say, your dd is just the cutest wee thing. Smile

OP posts:
peachsmuggler · 17/10/2011 22:23

Just about had a "gush" myself master, at your post. You are a classy bird! Wink. Thanks re DD, she has her moments, though not when she is eating and then comes over a wipes her dirty chops on my top, under guise of a hug Hmm

Hope tomorrow is a better day DrNo Smile

ibbydibby · 18/10/2011 08:13

Well done Rhet, Sticky and Moshi.

Rhet great stuff, loved your race report, event sounded brilliant. Sorry yesterday not good, hope today will be better.

Sticky, well done. Funny re Garmin and distance though. Have you tried checking it against a known distance? You could see if it is "out" over a distance of a mile or even half a mile.

Moshi dont know what to say. Well done doesn't quite fit the bill! Splits were amazing. A friend who also ran Abingdon on Sunday did 4.37 - I would have been pleased with that (my one and only marathon took 5hr 5 - have a score to settle next April)

Sorry for poorly peeps and hope all on the road to recovery now. How is DS, DrNo? Don't blame you for bailing out in the conditions you describe - is always easier to keep going when you are with others so hopefully running club tonight should give you a workout...

Have not been on here much at all in last few days as have builders here removing rendering from one side of house (long story). I didn't realise how noisy it would be so am getting out as much as poss (and therefore falling behind on work). Also met up with 2 (retired) friends who I knew very well when living in London, they are on holiday in Norfolk. We met for "coffee", ended up sitting in cafe for over 3 hours. Shock. Was exhausted.

Much of weekend spent outside, either running or gardening. Parkrun time on Sat was crap, my slowest since March this year. Though admittedly "only" 51 seconds short of PB so not too bad in that sense, but am Angry with self. 10 miles on Sunday - lovely run in countryside with friends.

Re peri-menopause - GP reckons I am as had blood test earlier this year. I had 3 12 day cycles, one after the other, so that was a bit knackering! Sort of calmed down now.

encyclogirl · 18/10/2011 10:38

Ugs, caught the squits from this thread. Or maybe just stress tummy from the Royal Visit of MIL. Dunno, anyway, back now. Grabbing a coffee then settling down to read race reports.

Haven't run since last Wednesday btw, well I've been running to the loo if that counts Hmm

rhetorician · 18/10/2011 10:53

encyclo you have scotched my theory that the squits could not cross the Irish Sea! have decided to stay at home and work today, and will fit in a 6+ miler later on. It looks cold out (stove lit for the first time this year!), but sunny and lovely.

Hope you are all having good days!

encyclogirl · 18/10/2011 11:06

Excellent race reports.

Rhet that race sounds lovely and your time is fab in my book. I'm sorry you had such a shit day yesterday.

Moshi Incredible splits, incredible. You are a proper athlete, I am totally in awe.

strangeways I need you running uphill with me. I see them and freak out. Quite literally. I've been known to turn back and everything!

peach Here I am! Thanks for asking for me. I survived. She did my head in and to be honest I stayed off the board because I was afraid I'd say something really horrible in my moment of stress. And I couldn't go running while she was here, because of my bad gut thinger.

When she said for the 5th time that she didn't like the Irish I just snapped. She was genuinely surprised I reacted to her comment as she says it to every Irish person she knows, and 'They just laugh' apparently.

When I asked her to explain why she didn't like the Irish, all she could come up with was when she was 19 in the early '60's she went hitching around Ireland with a friend and everyone that gave her a lift 'went out of their way to take them where they needed to go'

And that, my friends, is why she doesn't like the Irish.

Apparently them being helpful and putting themselves out for her meant they clearly had no jobs and were layabouts...oh and she didn't like the accent Hmm

I have forbidden her to say she doesn't like the Irish from here on out. She agreed as long as she could say she doesn't like the Russians without me losing it.

I am a saint for not killing her, throwing her body in a ditch and driving off there and then. A saint.

ibbydibby · 18/10/2011 11:13

Encylclo as you say, you really are a saint...

Rhet sorry, also meant to say hope both DP and you feeling ok today, after yesterday's wobble.

Cold here also - wind seems to have changed. Have spent much of morning trying to figure out where to work, to avoid both noise of builders, and glare of sun. (feel guilty about the latter, but is tricky at this time of year as so low in the sky). Have ended up in DS1's bedroom, and am squeezed at his desk surrounded by erm...stuff.

encyclogirl · 18/10/2011 11:18

rhet it's freezing here too. I am dreading the colder months this year. I really hope it's not as bad as last time.

ibby We have a major project at home next year. Soooooooo not looking forward to it. We just did our kitchen and I nearly went nuts!

rhetorician · 18/10/2011 11:18

thanks for well wishes, everyone; bambina decided to make up for her uncharacteristic quietness by kicking the bejaysus out of DP all night (so DP was awake most of Sunday night worrying, and most of last night being thumped)

potty training limping along here - DD said last night that she didn't want nappies any more. One wee in potty this morning, one accident. But she is ready, definitely.
