Just rebooting the most recent thread

At the moment the UKs issues are rather over shadowed by events elsewhere
but maybe that is a good thing.

The German election on Sunday is worth watching
Right wing European politicians pulling out of CPAC speeches because they realise its not a good look
Farage floundering to stay relevant

and the possibility of the return of free movement for our kids if not us

Relations between mainland Europe and the UK remain a worthy topic for discussion

Wouldn't it all have been so much easier if we hadn't left...

DuncinToffee · 03/10/2025 08:47

‘Polling commissioned by POLITICO shows the government’s agri-food deal agreed in principle with Brussels is popular with Remainers and Leavers alike — even when they're told it means following EU rules.

‘Nearly two-thirds (63 per cent) of voters back the deal…

The survey questions are clearly biased and misleading though;

Sample of 2037 adults, in full, respondents' response options were "We should make an agreement with the EU so that it is easier to trade products like meat, dairy, and vegetables because this will bring down food prices and benefit the economy" and "We should not make an agreement with the the EU because it means we will be bound to European regulations on these products."

POLITICO's accompanying article doesn't claim that the proposed deal will bring down food prices and benefit the economy - it only suggests the deal could lower prices etc.

Neither does the second option expand on what being bound to European regulations would entail - whereas the accompanying article does; "The quid pro quo would be that the U.K. would once again have to follow EU rules; this time with little say in what they are."

MaybeNotBob · 03/10/2025 12:55

Wehey! Look who's back!

Wehey! Look who's back!

Actually, I have to go out now.

DuncinToffee · 03/10/2025 13:43

Could is better than won't

We don't want false promises now, would we?

DuncinToffee · 03/10/2025 13:44

Never change Clav Smile

Talkinpeace · 03/10/2025 15:05

I'd much rather Clav and Derxa than Globe.

At least both Clav and Derxa are definitely human.

OP posts:
GlobeTrotter2000 · 04/10/2025 16:23

How do you come to that conclusion?

Peregrina · 04/10/2025 21:02

Was Derxa the one who kept sheep? So might have known a little about farming.

Talkinpeace · 04/10/2025 21:46

Derxa is indeed the sheep farmer.
She is still about and still consistent in her views.

I disagree with both her and Clav
but recognise that they cogitate on what they post
rather than algorithm it

GlobeTrotter2000 · 08/10/2025 20:45

What algorithm did the MPs use when they voted on 29 March 2017 whether or not to leave the EU?

MaybeNotBob · 08/10/2025 20:57

They were scared for their lives and their families (see Jo Cox) because of the cult of the "willy of the people"...

MaybeNotBob · 08/10/2025 20:57

(And they wanted the support of the racists)

MaybeNotBob · 08/10/2025 22:50

DuncinToffee · 08/10/2025 22:57

It's the algorithm...

GlobeTrotter2000 · 09/10/2025 02:20

Did David Cameron receive death threats after he sent the booklet to all UK households which favoured the UK to remain in the EU?

Did any of the 113 MPs who voted remain in 2017 receive death threats?

Did any of the Liberal Democrat candidates receive death threats when they stated Brexit would be cancelled if they won the 2019 general election?

The current parliament has 538 MPs from pro Brexit parties. Have any of them received death threats?

Are all Jewish people around the World going to give up their religion because of what happened in Manchester?

How does He’s in the Tyne explain that pro EU parties have not won any of the three general elections since the referendum?

Are voters afraid for their lives if they vote for a pro EU party? Doubtful as there is no way to identify how people vote.

So, the argument that MPs voted for Brexit because they were afraid has neither logic nor proof.

DuncinToffee · 09/10/2025 09:09

Good old Dave who ran away as soon as the shit was to hit the fan.

MaybeNotBob · 09/10/2025 09:09

It wasn't the remainers that people were scared of.

It was the racist thugs. Jo Cox was murdered by someone parroting the Leave campaign's slogans.

This really isn't difficult to understand...

GlobeTrotter2000 · 09/10/2025 09:41

@MaybeNotBob

Again, you did not answer any of the questions.

How can the action of one person be extrapolated to prove that millions of others think the same.

The Manchester synagogue attacker was a migrant from Syria. Does his action prove that all migrants will become murderers?

@DuncinToffee

Cameron never had a plan for a leave vote. Ultra confident (arrogant) that remain would win easily.

He charged up to £120,000 per hour for speeches on Brexit. Source the independent 15 November 2016. In 2020 he earned £800K+ from speeches.

So, he is doing incredibly well from Brexit even though he thought it was the wrong thing to do. Double standards at its best.

DuncinToffee · 09/10/2025 09:44

Double standards indeed Globe, and not just for Lord Dave.

EU expels people who overstay their visa hasn't quite got the same ring to it,

GlobeTrotter2000 · 09/10/2025 19:16

@DuncinToffee

Maybe read the article in full. Farage said leaving the EU will make it easier for skilled people from Africa and India to enter the UK.

Yes, that is what he said and that is what happened.

Increased immigration from outside the EU, Brexit benefit

I am not complaining, he does though
