Just waiting.

Talks between Frost and Barnier still unresolved issues. There are rumours but 'all without evidence' (the new in phrase on BBC news tonight) that the UK is waivering.

Less that two months to go.

And there is the small matter of what happens in the US than might influence events.

Biden ahead by 100,000 votes in Arizona according to SKY. Biden 50.1 Trump 48.5 90% counted.

Sostenueto · 06/11/2020 10:40

But Pensylvania looking very close

Peregrina · 06/11/2020 10:45

Oh this is painful. But we know from our Brexit vote that a 52:48 split counts as overwhelming.

DGRossetti · 06/11/2020 10:45

Raab is sitting at home trying to understand where on his school atlas Scranton is

Was amused to see a Tory MP pulled up on a disparaging anti Biden tweet from a while back. I imagine today could be a very quiet day in Westminster as a lot of people suddenly start spring cleaning their various SM posts ?

Looking forward to be gaslit by the media - who will always have been behind "Good ol' Joe", and were scrupulous about dealing with Trump these past 4 years.

ListeningQuietly · 06/11/2020 10:46

PA is fascinating because of its past history of horrific gerrymandering and SC rulings

my cousins in Montgomery county are posting memes on FB again
which tells me they are sure he's won it

once Nevada and Arizona wake up and make their morning calls
I think the orange one may be toast.

Now where is Hate to tell us about that great trade deal that will ignore the GFA Grin

Peregrina · 06/11/2020 10:48

I think the orange one may be toast.

Please let this be so.

WorriedMutha · 06/11/2020 11:05

This is David Henig's response to the Nick Gutteridge thread that RTB has set out above.

'The UK side doesn't want to have to make the decision accepting the deal on offer and still hopes that somehow that can be avoided, perhaps by saying "fish" a lot. Also don't fully understand EU external negotiations are not like internal ones'.

God it must be like herding cats for Michael Barnier.

They can think what they like, really. It's what the people in the positions of power in the federal government think that matters.

How long do we have to wait before the grandees of the GOP start to distance themselves from Trump’s ravings?

prettybird · 06/11/2020 11:20

They're already starting to.

DrBlackbird · 06/11/2020 11:33

@prettybird

They're already starting to.
Yes, I was relieved to read that quite a few were not just distancing but reprimanding Trump. A sliver of hope that some of the Republicans were not yet willing to completely destroy American democracy.

Not clear at all how Arizona is going to the Trump way.
Anyone explain this please?

FlouncingBabooshka · 06/11/2020 11:41

My reading of it was that the more prominent Senators were either not commenting or explicitly supporting him.

FlouncingBabooshka · 06/11/2020 11:44

pan, It's because the postal ballots seem to be falling in the opposite way to other key states like Pennsylvania and Georgia, where the in person votes gave Trump an early lead which is now being eroded as the absentee ballots are counted. It's happening in reverse in Arizona.

Pan2 · 06/11/2020 11:50

Ah, thank you! I'd taken it that going postal was predominantly for Biden in all states.

The military votes in Georgia may be a problem - getting above 5,000 prior to that count seems important.

Stephen McGann tweets that it would really sweet IF the Pennsylvania majority was exactly 65,000. Grin

The military vote will be majority Republican, but don't count on it being all Republican - my late H was USAF and I still have many friends there - there's not an enormous amount of love for Trump.

An amusing chart that shows the timeline of the EC votes piling up

pointythings yes thanks, I think I'm just being hyper concerned. There is a delicious pleasure in drawing out the Orange One's pain, but it's also frustrating.....

SabrinaThwaite · 06/11/2020 12:09

Is Trump regretting being such a shit to John McCain yet?

(No - because Trump doesn’t do regret or empathy)

Boris Johnson looks into building tunnel between Scotland and Northern Ireland
The tunnel would be 21 miles long

I guess he's realised a bridge over the irish sea might not be the most practical of things I guess.

I also guess he hasn't shown this plan to Sunak because I suspect he might finally have heart failure and resign if Johnson did.

DG I think Governor Hogan had already refused to back Trump before the election.

I remain quite take aback at the more prominent figures who, at best, are failing to condemn his words, and, at worst, coming out in support.

The Greta Thunberg tweet is a joy. She must have relished the chance to do that.

prettybird · 06/11/2020 13:18

As long as he doesn't take the cost of the feasibility study out of Scotland's pocket money financial settlement/Barnett allocation, as it's not anything that has been requested by Scotland Hmm
