Multiple brilliant bits in that speech, I don't think there was a single misstep.
One of the many high points being milliband stating that the proposed bill did not address the 'blockade' issue and then invited Johnson to point to the clause that addressed the issue - "I'm sure he's read the bill, he is a details man" - I'll give way to him - then sat down - Johnson totally flustered didn't reply - milliband on a roll...

This is a country that abandons it’s own before they are born. They haven’t given a damn about the food supplies before, why the sudden interest?

TorchesTorches · 14/09/2020 19:17

Watching the debate currently and agree about feeling sick with all this eulogisising about us being fair and playing with a straight bat. Eurgh. Some of these MPs are just awful.

SabrinaThwaite · 14/09/2020 19:19

Ian Dunt's live tweeting is most entertaining.

SabrinaThwaite · 14/09/2020 19:25

Andrea Jenkins, because of course. Endless parade of horror. Like a surgical procedure to eradicate any trace intelligence.

Pepperwort · 14/09/2020 19:26

The protestations of security would also ring less hollow if not long ago they had not asked for volunteers to become security and customs officers. The 6th richest country in the world wants it’s people to work for nothing.

yoikes · 14/09/2020 19:41

I'm supposed to be working...
Loved eds speech.
I hate what my country has become.

BoreOfWhabylon · 14/09/2020 19:44

I can't find the relevant Millibit on catch- up. Can someone tell me what time it starts please?

Lopresti is my slug of an MP. Interesting if he's not backing Boris.

52andblue · 14/09/2020 19:45

@HesterThrale

Thanks Red. So during the election campaign 10 months ago, when they were pushing the great oven-ready deal, did they know they’d have to go against it in the end?

Or: he just never read and understood it?

Dishonest, or incompetent? Either way...

You mean we have to choose??? Surely he is BOTH @HesterThrale

PMK = thanks @RedToothBrush

I thought Ed Miliband spoke well. Iain Blackford too.

yoikes · 14/09/2020 19:55

When is the vote?

It would be about a minute before I posted 'Ed Miliband is excellent' I think ^^
BoreOfWhabylon · 14/09/2020 20:00

Thanks Jamie

SKY reporting on amazon being on fire.
BBC reporting some shite about the Donald.

losing the will here.

BigChocFrenzy · 14/09/2020 20:05

I come back from the gym to this !

The Bundestag has never been this exciting,
probably because no post-war German chancellor has been so fucking stupid & evil
We have to go back into history for one who was ....

BigChocFrenzy · 14/09/2020 20:07

"The Bad Boys of Brexit".... was a retrospective description, not an aspirational challenge.

DG 😂😳

I noticed that too. A remarkable silence.

Can anyone remind me why it’s the EUs responsibility to sort the insurmountable contradictions of Northern Ireland out? I thought they didn’t want EU control. Control = responsibility, do they not know that?

Pepperwort · 14/09/2020 20:13

Vote expected ‘as late as 10’. Speaker announced wind-up about 9.40.

SabrinaThwaite · 14/09/2020 20:19

Vote tonight around 10pm according to Ian Dunt.

BoreOfWhabylon · 14/09/2020 20:25

And thanks Edith too. Ed was as excellent as you all said.

Did anyone elso notice that Johnson was not sitting in one of the green designated 'safe' seats (for social distancing) but in one of the red 'not safe' seats. Arse. Also, he looks awful.

JamieLeeCurtains · 14/09/2020 20:29

That awful man, our PM, is a tantrum locked in a big boy's suit.

SwedishEdith · 14/09/2020 20:31

That Miliband clip has had 1.4 million views.

Darker · 14/09/2020 20:35

The tories forget the ROI is a member of the EU and therefore their priority. Of course it’s nit a level playing field. The member pay for the privilege of working as a group to their mutual advantage.

BigChocFrenzy · 14/09/2020 20:41

BJ looked like a sulky kid who'd been caught in the wrong Shock

Milliband was brilliant, tore him apart, then put him on the spot to answer .... which he chickened out of - Cummings hadn't told him what to say
