Are they voting in person on this tonight?

Just asking for a 50 something male ex Tory minister friend.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 14/09/2020 18:14

Apparently my ERG twat of an MP is all in favour of this bill. I shall contact him to ask if there are any other laws I could break if I fancied.

Sostenueto · 14/09/2020 18:15

Voting for amendment and for second reading in commitee stage tonight ( I think)

SunnyUplandsOhNoTurnipSoup · 14/09/2020 18:17

Who was that MP lying slumped on the bench at the end of Ed Milliband's speech?

SunnyUplandsOhNoTurnipSoup · 14/09/2020 18:20

Meant to say Ed Milliband's brilliant speech.

ListeningQuietly · 14/09/2020 18:21

Sunny
Did not see it, but some of them look like they are slumping because the hearing loop speakers are built into the back of the benches ....

dontcallmelen · 14/09/2020 18:21

Oh my, Bravo Ed Milliband at last someone finally said what we are all thinking.

prettybird · 14/09/2020 18:21

Desmond Swayne. Overly theatrical twerp, used to be seen pretending to be asleep behind Ken Clarke.
JamieLeeCurtains · 14/09/2020 18:35

It might have been Sir Desmond Swayne?

SabrinaThwaite · 14/09/2020 18:36

Just rewatching Miliband in full flow - I liked Angela Eagle’s interruption - can you tell the House who might havesigned this terrible deal?

JamieLeeCurtains · 14/09/2020 18:37

X-posted. Desmond Swayne is one of those MPs representing the 1950s.

That was the rather astonishing moment when our actual Prime Minister started sulking

Ed Miliband was 🔥. Judging by J’sons look of anger he had better sleep with one eye open tonight.

SwedishEdith · 14/09/2020 18:39

This is a weird one:

Lopresti is abstaining tonight and tells The Critic he thought Geoffrey Cox put the point across brilliantly in the Times this morning.

Darker · 14/09/2020 18:41

Watching Milliband on catch-up. Boris is slumped and sullen, looking like a recalcitrant sixth-former.

SunnyUplandsOhNoTurnipSoup · 14/09/2020 18:43

Pretty Jaimie 🤣🤣
Thanks Swedish. Given Johnson dislikes his own deal, the logical thing now us to vote against his own Bill.

Letseatgrandma · 14/09/2020 18:49

Late to the party here but can someone clarify something for me please?

Am I right in thinking that it’s the case that Boris wants to change his mind about something which was agreed as part of his Brexit deal which is going to really piss off lots of people-especially the EU- but because the Tories have such a large majority, they’ll almost certainly pass it through tonight anyway?!

dontcallmelen · 14/09/2020 18:55

pointy just saw the fabulous purple hair👍🏼

wherearemychickens · 14/09/2020 18:56

Letseat, yes, that's pretty much it

SabrinaThwaite · 14/09/2020 18:58

Lopestri represents Filton - maybe he has one eye on Airbus?

Mind you, the other eye will need to be watching Mrs Lopestri who will be voting for it.

SabrinaThwaite · 14/09/2020 19:02

Here’s the Right Honourable Member for the 1950s looking like someone’s shoved a toasting fork somewhere uncomfortable.

mrslaughan · 14/09/2020 19:05

Just coming on to say Milliband was amazing.....
Some of you missed the juicy part of his speech where he mocked BJ on his attention to detail.

Thought Johnson looked really really sick - maybe because he was having his arse handed too him......

I am sick of these Tories saying how horrified they are..... but then abstaining. This bill proposes breaking the law - and they think they should abstain - rather than vote against it!!!!! 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤯🤬

SabrinaThwaite · 14/09/2020 19:10

Thought Johnson looked really really sick - maybe because he was having his arse handed too him......

Miliband had just told him to grow up and accept responsibility for his actions for the first time in his life.

Pepperwort · 14/09/2020 19:14

I don’t know about anyone else but one thing I cannot stomach, coming from a poor northern working class background, is a bloody Tory waxing lyrical about fair play. This is the most unequal country in Europe, one of the most sexist, and fair play is non existent.
